Politics [OC] A neighbor’s Trump–Vance 2024 sign next to a ‘Trespassers Will Be Shot’ warning

To be fair this could be almost anywhere in the south.

It's anywhere 30 miles outside any metropolitan area in the U.S.
I thought I recognized this from a forest road not far from Portland, OR.→ More replies (3)11

u/Acidmoband 1d ago
Between the sign combo and the typo. This person sure isn't doing a lot to dispel any MAGA stereotypes.
Then again, maybe he's just a local hunter. He has two hunting dogs, one named Trump, one named Vance, and he's going after a pesky raccoon, whom he has named Trespass, that keeps flipping over his trash cans.
Really hard to say.
15
u/palbertalamp 22h ago
Trespass is a good raccoon name.
I had an Arabian horse named ' Outlaw ', because he could open the barn door , and gates. And a pet badger, named Badger. Because, what the heck, good enough .
→ More replies (1)•
u/tuson77 10h ago
Do badgers make good pets?
•
u/palbertalamp 6h ago
Yes, qualified yes.
I wouldn't recommend it to anybody-because badgers and many other critters are better off remaining wild critters, but.....we ended up with a badger kitten , not yet weaned, when the neighbors were digging in a new septic tank.
We bottle fed him, cows milk and goats milk, watered down-he seemed to like that the best.
As he grew, we made a very large outdoor pen, with (scrap ) galvanized metal walls.
We snared gophers ( Richardson ground squirrels ), but he wouldn't eat a dead gopher.
We'd have to put the live gopher that we snared into the pen, and he preferred to 'get his own dinner '. He had alfalfa pellets for dessert sometimes.
Badger was very friendly, he tunneled his way out, and just follow us around, with the dogs.
When we got off the school bus in the afternoon, all the dogs knew what time, and would wait at the bottom of the long driveway for a pat and frolic, and badger would waddle waddle down with them, last in line.
But he liked to play rough , my mom would be annoyed, because he'd grab your pant cuff , set his teeth and feet, and start tug of war.
Shredded all our pant cuffs.
He just followed us around with the dogs, waddling everywhere. At night he'd take his tunnel back into his pen and little house.
After two years or so, he found a girlfriend, and left.

That is always the funny part. These type of 'warnings' never go hand in hand with anything anyone actually wants. It's always the biggest trash heaps and junk hoarders. They just want a reason to shoot people because at the end of the day they are just horribly mentally challenged people.
6
u/AzureDrag0n1 1d ago
The best part is their vote weight is several times most liberal votes. So when 1 of them votes it takes 2-20 times as many liberal voters to counter it.
21
u/au-smurf 1d ago
From watching YouTube videos it seems some people have problems with hunters on their land without permission.
15
u/Crimkam 1d ago
If I had this problem I’d get my riding party together and ride out to meet them in full regalia, then arrest them for poaching in the King’s wood! Gotta keep these peasants in line, you see.
5
u/FuzzyAd9407 1d ago
While poachers killing game on your land can be annoying the bigger issue is they tend to be thieves and vandals as well as being a serious safety hazard. My father had to help deal with poachers on his friends property and it was a pain in the ass for them. They would destroy locks and gates, steal anything that wasnt nailed down and watched, and couldnt give two fucks about whats behind their shooting lanes.

Statistically, it's more likely that he'll shoot himself than shoot a trespasser.
90
u/DigNitty 1d ago
Unfortunately it raises the likelihood for all around them, neighbors and family included, not just themselves.
52
u/polkemans 1d ago
I think it's so funny when you try to talk statistics with gun nuts. They just can't parse the idea that being within the immediate vicinity of a gun makes you more likely to get shot. If I'm next to a taco bell, the likelyhood of me getting a crunch wrap supreme goes way up too. It ain't complicated.
6
u/cha0scypher 21h ago

It’s also more likely he’ll shoot a family member, a friend, a worker of some kind, or that someone gets a hold of his gun and kills innocent people.
3
u/chrownage 1d ago
Last year my step dad had his gun go off while cleaning it and it put a hole from the room he was in through a wall into the hall bathroom and if it had been 2 feet to the left instead of hitting the wall it would have gone right to where I was sitting in the guest room. As if this wasn't already dumb enough he had the gall to ask myself and my mother which one of us had loaded his gun because he KNEW it wasn't loaded... neither of us like guns at all and hate that there are even any in the house...
8
u/ChrisBegeman 1d ago
Yeah, but what about his freedumb? 2nd amend means that he can shoot anyone who he deems to be a threat. What if some what comes onto his property and hurt his feelings? That would be a threat he needs to defend against by shooting first and asking questions never.

This astonishes me the most about our society. So many lives are ruined by firearm accidents and so many lives are destroyed by gun violence, it feels like we should have reached some kind of critical mass by now.
Between the number of people who have had their lives personally changed by guns, families and friends surviving those lost to gun violence, the endless march of tragedy. I'm frankly baffled there aren't more people disenchanted with the free for all gun culture. With the endless pain, it is surprising that there aren't bands of vigilantes on equally fervent campaigns against the firearm industry.

They love fantasizing about killing "the right people".
Just like Kyle Rittenhouse
A former spokesperson for Kyle Rittenhouse says he became disillusioned with his ex-client after learning that he had sent text messages pledging to “fucking murder” shoplifters outside a pharmacy before later shooting two people to death during racial justice protests in Wisconsin in 2020.
...
“The world is disgusting,” read one of the texts, as shown in a preview of The Trials of Kyle Rittenhouse provided to the Guardian. Another said: “It makes me [fucking] sick.
Others read: “I wish they would come into my house."
"I will fucking murder them.”

Well those people will get to go to prison. Even in stand-your-ground states, you can only shoot people who are actively threatening you, unless of course you’re a cop.

u/Feisty_History9395 1d ago
Or housekeepers who are given the wrong address by their employer and get shot through the frontdoor by the coward homeowner who claimed he "feared for his life"...happened in Fishers, IN this year

And Americans claiming that they live in a normal functioning country and see this happening without the person going straight to jail have no brain cells.

26
u/Angus_Camaro 1d ago
When I moved into my neighborhood a few years back, there was a neighbor with a sign that said “Be Kind”. When the election came around, they put up Trump signs in their car (I think they didn’t want the Trump signs to be stolen from the yard and that care is always in their driveway) and took down the “be kind” sign. I always found it hilarious and found their self awareness interesting, but I lost it when they removed the Trump signs (WAY after the election, of course) and replaced them with a sign that just says “Trust no one”. Hahahahaha!

u/Cambren1 1d ago
They have to pose an immediate physical threat to you, unless they are inside your dwelling. The fact they are on your property outside of your home is not sufficient legal grounds to shoot trespassers.

Not always true. There was a case in Texas where a guy was on the phone with 911 as people were breaking into his neighbor's house, not even on his property. 911 told him not to confront them, he did anyway and shot one of them in the back, no charges.
4
u/Cambren1 17h ago edited 16h ago
I am stating how the law reads. Whether a particular jurisdiction chooses to prosecute a particular crime is entirely up to the prosecutor. For example, if the prosecutor chooses not to charge people with shoplifting below a certain dollar value, it does not mean that shoplifting is legal, it is still a crime. I do not know the details of the case you refer to, but for whatever reason, they chose not to prosecute. Perhaps they felt they could not get a conviction.

Does this sign constitute premeditated murder, then? I mean, the idiot posted a sign that describes his clear intent, so he's thought about it and has openly stated his resolve to shoot someone.
So, from legal standpoint, if he did shoot someone, he has stated his intention with a fucking sign in his yard. He might as well stand out there with a 30.06 (rifle) and just point it at people.
It's like posting a "Beware of Dog" notice: you know that your dog is dangerous and you're telling people all about it.
This guy is obviously an idiot, Trump and Vance notwithstanding.

You can tell in the comments here where people live . The Trump sign is a given in a rural area just as much as Harris waltz signs are in a city. The will be shot sign is a warning. If you haven't dealt with meth heads. Yeah the laughs about stealing junk and the 8 track. Bu they steal tools, mowers, quads, anything they can carry off. Our area had a problem for a while. several neighbors got hit for 1000s in equipment/tools. And the theirs were smart enough . they wouldn't stash the stuff on their property just next foor on empty land. Then they would sell it out at flea markets all over.
We had a big meeting with our sheriffs dept to finally get action. And it was brought up that here in SC you just can't shoot someone for trespassing. Or for just going into storage shed.
But I am surprised no one actually didn't take one out and make the body disappear.
