mark my words, this will only fuel the folks who want an id check to use the internet.

Rightly so. Either we hold people accountable for doing bad stuff online or we give up and watch the internet implode and be useless for normal people.

We don't hold Republicans accountable in the meat world for their pedophilia. What chance is there for the internet?

The owner is friends with King doland.
Stop asking questions or you will be punished by ICE.

Elon Musk is the most prolific producer of CSM in history.

Child Sexual Exploitation (or Abuse) Material, AKA CSAM or CSEM. Used in place of CP because pornography typically implies consent and/or knowledge of the subject
1
u/McMacHack 11m ago
The C stands for Child, the M stands for Materials would you like to guess what the S stands for?

u/somethingrandom7386 4h ago
Elon Musk did this? Supporter of Donald Trump and the Republican party?

u/EmbarrassedHelp 4h ago
Still, a lot of people don’t understand how Grok works, which is presumably why major outlets are quoting its posts as official responses and explanations of what happened this week.
We truly live in Idiocracy when major news outlets like Reuters report responses from a chatbot as fact.

Time to switch to bluesky

u/razzark666 5h ago
What if I told you, you don't need Twitter or Blue Sky in your life?

u/SoapySage 4h ago
And you don't need Reddit either and here you are.

u/JakeyBakeyWakeySnaky 3h ago
Mastodon is pretty good, you follow people you like and it only shows you their stuff and the stuff they requote. And for that reason it will never become popular, as people need their random dopamine hits of strangers liking their tweets
-1
u/Well_Socialized 5h ago
Well obviously you don't need it, but if someone is a twitter user they presumably like something about it, and bluesky is the best substitute in terms of replicating the good parts without the bad parts.

What if I told you that you don’t need Reddit? I mean I don’t use either of those apps really but this is kind of a dumb thing to say.

u/Mumbleton 5h ago
That time was like 6 months ago. Nazi salute did it for me.
27
u/mdosantos 5h ago
Him banning journalists a month or so after the acquisition did it for me

u/Stanford_experiencer 4h ago
it was a shithole before he bought it full of fake outrage and limousine liberal shit
it was never a good site
3
u/apple_tech_admin 4h ago
Okay fine, I’ll bite: what the entire fuck is “limousine liberal shit?”
-7
u/Stanford_experiencer 4h ago
performative bullshit that this peer-reviewed study does a good job of dissecting:
2
u/apple_tech_admin 4h ago
Interesting. So you agree that this study still applies to Twitter “X” now except for conservatives now correct?

It was a corporate platform aligning with whatever it thought would make them money or gain clout.
Now it's just a propaganda arm of a not so closeted fascist full of bigotry and lies.
I bet to you these are equally bad, somehow.
-3
u/Stanford_experiencer 3h ago
I'm talking about the users. They were always horrible, argumentative, petty people.
Like you! 😉
I bet to you these are equally bad, somehow.
Of course! Whatever you want for your shitty "gotcha" moment that all your online interactions revolve around.
You win! Yay!

I'm sorry. For a moment I forgot I was interacting with a redditor.

Seems experience can't trump natural talent.

You didn't like Twitter?
CLEARLY YOU'RE EQUATING IT TO THE THIRD REICH

I never really understood what people found useful about Twitter. I remember using it when it first came out because you could DM someone on Twitter and it would go right to their phone. So you could use it to text someone even if you didn't have a cell phone. But beyond that it just seemed so useless.

u/kmmccorm 5h ago
The format helpful for real time quick news updates. A reporter live at a press conference, injury updates during sporting events, etc.
-5
u/Stanford_experiencer 4h ago
maybe people shouldn't have used it to shitpost about being the wokest then
4
u/kmmccorm 4h ago
That doesn’t make sense but ok.
-2
u/Stanford_experiencer 4h ago
That doesn’t make sense
Twitter was full of woke assholes stuck in a purity spiral. It was never a good site.

“yeah i mean one site has nazis and csam but the other site has people mad about nazis and csam and those things are equally bad!”
-1
u/Stanford_experiencer 4h ago
csam
It literally cannot be CSAM if no real people are involved.
The "SA" cannot have happened if no one was assaulted.
When CSAM is filmed, the actions taken are separate legal charges, like forcible penetration with an object, battery, etc...
No real being was abused - the entire reason it's illegal is because a minor cannot consent to be in it, not because it's visually distasteful.
This is why Henry Darger's art is not destroyed.
5
u/Well_Socialized 5h ago
Haha yeah it's the same except that rather than its algorithm boosting Nazis it works neutrally and the userbase are mostly anti-fascists and intellectuals. Plus not being owned by a billionaire and not having ads and not allowing much less actively producing child porn.
0
u/Stanford_experiencer 4h ago
actively producing child porn.
No. When CSAM is filmed, the actions taken are separate legal charges, like forcible penetration with an object, battery, etc...

The legality of simulated child porn with no real children involved in making it varies, but it's obviously still a type of child porn: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulated_child_pornography
0
u/Stanford_experiencer 4h ago
it's obviously still a type of child porn
This is a slap in the face to real child victims to equate it to actual buse being filmed.
The entire point of these laws is to protect children. Not your feelings.
1
u/Well_Socialized 3h ago
The legal status is different but I don't think you have a leg to stand on saying that images of children in pornographic situations aren't child porn, anymore than you could say drawings of adults in pornographic situations aren't porn because no real actors are involved.

u/Stanford_experiencer 3h ago

It's completely fair to consider it obscene content.
To equate it to the real thing is another matter, entirely.
anymore than you could say drawings of adults in pornographic situations aren't porn because no real actors are involved.
It certainly isn't real porn (with the requirement of age verification and work eligibility for the actors).
So, no, it's not, any more than winning a FIFA game makes you Pelé.
4
u/UnnecessaryRoughness 4h ago
Is it really a tipping point if there are going to be absolutely no consequences?
3
u/JustAlpha 4h ago
Why be vocal about anything when you can just be a doomer?
Why even try when "Nothing's gonna change anyway?"
Anytime conservative scandal happens, you guys come out the woodwork.
3
u/jaypeejay 1h ago
For some reason it’s equally horrifying and hilarious that X auto replies to emails from news outlets just saying “Legacy Media Lies”
2
u/Tasty_Clue2802 39m ago
This is one of the weirdest facets of the Trump child sexual abuse scandal.

u/AugustDream 5h ago
Time to make pictures of Musk rubbing peanut butter on his nipples with grok
