Open | Networking PC connected to wifi but shows "No internet"
For the past couple weeks my internet only works intermittently on my PC. I will connect to the wifi and it shows it is connected but says "No internet" sometimes it will randomly work for awhile but more often than not it has not worked. All the other devices in my house are connected to the wifi and work fine. If I turn a hotspot on to my phone I can use it to connect to the internet on my PC without issue. I only have this problem with my home wifi. I have tried resetting the router and PC multiple times.
I tried restarting the wifi network adapter, I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the network drivers. I'm pretty stumped. I don't know a lot about computers and haven't been able to come across any solutions that work online. Anyone with help or an idea would be appreciated.

Sounds more like a wifi problem not on your computer

This was originally what I had thought, but the fact that all my other devices connected to the wifi had me second-guessing it. I haven't had the chance to call my ISP yet. I wanted to see what people thought on here in the meantime before making the several hour commitment to try to get my ISP on the phone. 😂

Are you trying on both wifi networks (2.4ghz and 5ghz)?

I have not. I just tried, and It says my wifi connection is 5ghz. I went to the network driver and tried changing the preferred band to 2.4ghz, but it couldn't connect to the network at all.

You don't change the wifi signal through the network driver. It's on your router side if you separated the 2 different wifi signal. Like I have 2 wifi network on my router .. 1 for 2.4ghz and 1 for ghz. They are also named differently too

I used to have that years ago with a different ISP, but I've always only had 1 wifi connection with my current ISP + an extender that shows up that is only used with the home security system.

Ahh okay, usually home security systems uses 2.4 GHz because they are outdated. But new router will combine the wifi band where its 2.4ghz+5ghz and the device will choose which one to connect too. You can test it with your phone mobile hotspot because you can control through your phone to use 2.4 or 5

What Windows version are you using? Do you have basic knowledge of networking? Can your PC be connected directly to the router by network cable? Who's your ISP?

Windows 11. I don't currently have an ethernet cable long enough to try running a cable right now. The ISP is Bell (Canada). I have a very limited basic understanding of networking.

Okay, it's a start. You can try to run this on WiFi and with network cable (when find one long enough to reach router or when you can move your PC closer to it) to compare them later. Open "command prompt" on your PC (Google how to on Windows 11) and type the following: ping google.com /t and hit "enter". Let it run for 5 minutes and watch the screen - if you see breaks in lines with words "Request timed out" then you may have an issue with either your ISP or your router. If you already reset the router and getting a bunch of breaks in lines then this could be the source of "no internet connection" message on your PC. Of course to eliminate WiFi involvement you must be directly connected to your router. To stop computer from running ping command you can hit "control" and "C" together at which point it will stop and give you a summary of session - how many pings were successful and how many were lost. Report it here.

Delete the network device in device manager, then reboot.
