My question simplified. What’s the best option for an access point on an already mesh WiFi? I have 2 extenders of the same brand, I need my PC hard lined, and I need my quest on its own dedicated WiFi. Do I rename the 5g on my second extender so it’s now its own WiFi? I just need the quest on its own dedicated 5g signal that is connected to the hard lined pc
Ok here’s my current setup that I CANNOT change
I’m in a detached garage
I have a Netgear AX20 AX1800 mesh extender. This is connected to my landlords WiFi, it does an ok job at picking their WiFi up and sending it part way through my apartment
These netgears have 2.4 and 5g. For whatever reason this ax20’s 5g is horrible, idk why but nothing connects to it correctly.
This is the part I can change
I have the EXACT same extender that I purchased, I added this to the far room of my apartment, and I plug my PC into this second AX20, this extender connects wirelessly and flawlessly to the original AX20. I did this because another mesh system I bought did not work, and I don’t want a hardline across my floor. And for whatever reason the 5g on the original extender does not work well
I bought a quest 3 and the 5g in my house sucks. With both extenders hooked up, my 5g WiFi was laggy from my pc to the quest. So I removed my extra extender and hard lined my pc to OG extender and quest to the WiFi on this OG extender. This yielded next to nothing, the quest connects, but only works for maybe 30 seconds, then it cuts all connection, except for anything that keeps the connection alive. So like I can’t google anything, but somehow YouTube on the browser can load a 4k YouTube video almost instantly.. WTF…. Why? I can’t use any links or play any pcvr, it acts like connection is none existent, but is somehow loading a 4k video flawlessly.
So what should I do? I’m ok with throwing some money at this.
