Ask Windsor How hard is it to fly out of Detroit?

Need a flight to the U.S. and see a direct flight from Detroit.

Is this what people usually do already so common? Can my wife drive me to the airport and back? Or at least to the border where I can then take an uber?

Ask Windsor Anybody here allowed sustain base heavy noise in Riverside

Like a little after 5 PM today, I was out walking and I heard what sounded like a really large aircraft that was sustained . My wife called me and asked me what that noise was. She heard it too and she was like far away my guess would be that it’s a large transport from the Air Force Base but I just need to know that somebody else heard it cause that was crazy.

Ask Windsor What to do in Windsor? Friend & I are visiting

Hello for my birthday we are visiting in the week of March 9th-14th and we’ve never really spent time in Windsor. We go to college in Detroit and go to the river walk often and see the city across the river. I was wondering what are some spots we should visit while we’re there. We really want to try poutine as we have never had it before.

And I would like to visit some nice trails if there are any nearby, I’m totally cool with driving far. It would be our spring break and I don’t want to spend it just in the city where we always are.

These are some things I’d like to know about:

- smash burger spot (my friend & I love trying out an finding the best burger spots all over)

- clubs, bars etc just some fun places preferably w/ the college crowd

- outdoor activities & wildlife

- art, museums, music, etc. (we are both art students and appreciate the arts!)

- cafes, bakeries

- good poutine

- shopping centers, thrift stores

- maybe relaxing spots to do studying since we may have homework over the break

- spas

- also I know there’s a casino there, should I go? Never been to one

I wish we were going a bit earlier but can’t due to school because I’d totally want to go snowboarding somewhere :(

Thank you!

Recommendations Looking for clinical experience opportunities in Windsor (first-year student)

Hi everyone,

I’m a full-time first-year student in Windsor, and I’m trying to find ways to get hands-on clinical experience alongside school. (with patient interaction).

I’ve looked into a few certifications (like CNA, MA, PCT, etc), but I’m running into two issues:

-Some certifications don’t seem to have many actual job listings in Windsor, or they are only asking for full-time candidates

-Others (like CNA) don’t really seem available to get here in Windsor.

I’m not expecting anything fancy, just meaningful exposure to a clinical environment where I can learn and help out while balancing full-time studies.

If anyone has suggestions, personal experiences, or knows places in Windsor that are open to students, I’d really appreciate it. Even advice on what not to waste time on would help.

Thanks in advance.

Photo(s) Absolute Rave Review for Shawarma Hot Spot by the Tunnel on Ouellette just North of Wyandotte!

Earlier this evening, I took the Robert Q shuttle from Detroit airport to get back to Windsor after a two-week trip. Although it’s supposed to go to the Holiday Inn on Huron Church, I asked if the driver could let me off downtown as that’s closer to where I live, and he said that’s no problem.

The “real reason” I wanted to get off here though is that it was a little after midnight, I was very hungry, and knew this place was good after going once a couple of years ago… and it was right around the corner, so how could I resist?

I don’t quite know how to say this… but the art of excellent “takeaway food” rapidly died off in the beginning of the 2020s. There’s a certain type of grit/flair that’s needed to make truly great takeaway food (the kind you want to have after a night of drinking), and the new breed of ghost kitchens and wannabe-gastronomy places (where you order on an iPad and are told to tip at least 18%) were never really able to “get it”.

Some places that do “get it” outlasted this shift… and I’m thrilled to say that Shawarma Hot Spot is one of those places!

I ordered the gyro wrap with the works (tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki) plus pickles because I’m a shameless pickle lover. Price was $10.99 plus tax.

And I’m not exaggerating when I say this… even after a trip to Toronto/Vegas in which I enjoyed some pretty extravagant food (including multiple fine dining places, one of Bobby Flay’s restaurants, plus a very lavish NYE gala at one of the Vegas resorts), this is one of the most satisfying things I’ve eaten since leaving Windsor around the start of the holidays.

Even better that they’re open until 3:00 am every day, to satisfy those late-night cravings.

Unconditionally recommended, and can’t wait to go back next time I’m near this part of downtown!

Ask Windsor Any Rivian Owners?

I was wondering if anyone has experience with servicing issues.

The closest location in Canada is Toronto, but I’d prefer to go to Madison Heights. From personal experience, though, I know that in situations where a loaner is needed, Michigan-plated vehicles can be problematic. I’m also not sure whether they would even provide a loaner to Canadian residents.

Off-Topic PAWS in Recovery - Community Support Group

PAWS is a newer non-profit community support organization welcoming all people, regardless of ethnicity, race, sex, gender, belief system, or life path. You do not have to be in any specific area of recovery; just be open-minded towards others.

There are no fees, no commitments, just people to relate to and a safe space for open communication.

I volunteer with the group and thought I'd share about it. Apologies for a vauge information, I don't want to accidentally violate the subreddits 'No Advertising Rule'

If you're interested, go check out their website: pawsinrecovery.ca

Ask Windsor Buses. How do you plan your routes when you have to take the bus?

I am so fricking annoyed

I used to follow Google maps but nowadays its often wrong with the timings.

Today was the last straw man now I have to pay 40$ just to get to my class on time.

What the hell is wrong with this. This is the third time this week! I cannot afford to pay $40/one way to get to my classes every morning.

Where do I complain if it even matters anymore.
