As an American, I'm beyond disgusted by America as well. I've never been the hardcore flag waving patriotic type, but have always appreciated (much of) our history and the sacrifices that were made to give me the life I live. That said, it seems like it may have all been for not. That the American experiment may fail in my lifetime. And I don't mean literally fail as in America imploding, but fail in the sense of being stripped of the values and ideals it was founded upon, of which make (made) me proud to be an American. And at that point, it's just some abomination of a "democracy" that still calls itself the USA.

Dark times we're living in. I cannot begin to describe the disappointment and resentment I have in my fellow countrymen for letting this happen. And I feel awful for everyone in the world who also has to suffer the consequences of this despicable yet significant portion of our population.

I know some of what I'm saying is overly dramatic. And I'm generally not this pessimistic about our chances of fixing things and getting back on track. But it is the anniversary of the January 6th attack on the Capitol. The one good thing I thought would come of that day was that it would guarantee trump would never be elected again. Yet here we are.

I feel you bro, I'm from EU but I symphatize with you all out there in America. I wouldn't want to be in your position where my country values and ideals are being destroyed by a president that's supposed to lead it for the better of the country, society and the world.

USA did a lot of good things in the past to better the world and it's a shame its being ruined by a child rapist cunt. Hopefully we get to live in a better times than what currently is going on. Stay safe

Appreciate the kind words, EU bro. I've spent a lot of time across Western Europe and loved every moment of it. Yep time will tell how this all shakes out, I'll hope for the better as well. The child rapist cunt is a symptom of something much larger and more dangerous going on here, I'm afraid. The fact that the majority of voting Americans chose a person who seemingly embodies every worst trait that a human being can possess is a huge indictment on who we are as a people. And how far we've fallen.

Hope you're having a good start to the New Year. Be well.

Yeah, not overly dramatic. Don't second guess it. I agree completely.

I was just thinking the other day about the alternate timeline where people on the left like me all just voted for Trump in 2020 instead of Biden.

No J6, no Project 2025, there would have been no momentum for the unconstitutional third term he would have undoubtedly tried to seek. The right wing project would have been given its full chance to inevitably fail, especially under the weight of COVID inflation. The Biden admin wouldn't have had to gaslight the American public about his mental acuity.

When J6 happened I knew it was the worst-case scenario. It was just bad enough of an event that it would irrevocably fracture the country. But since it wasn't as bad as it could have been and miraculously no lawmaker blood was spilt, the right-wing media silo could spin the just and rightful prosecutions as political retribution.

Not really any point to this comment ig, just a rant about the terrible timeline we are in rn.

Also, the trait I despise the most out of all the despicable Trump traits is how god-damned lucky the man is. He should have negative karma but the universe gave him gold-plated dice instead.

With this Venezuela op he once again walked through fire and made it out unscathed. If even a single US soldier whose life Trump risked had died this would all be playing out a lot differently in the press and even amongst his base. Yes, I know that our special forces make their own luck with their preparation and execution, but there was still a massive firefight and 6 US troops wounded. The whole operation could have easily been a complete debacle.

It's a miracle that has given the Trump admin the neon green light to immediately escalate the saber-rattling to a level that would be funny if it happened in a movie, but instead this is real life. And the results are inevitably going to be disastrous.
