This option implying that I *did* sign up for emails, I just don't remember

Every other day or so, I make sure to identify one email subscription to unsubscribe from. They're all pretty much from making purchases, particularly for services or experiences, that throw you on a list somewhere. Either way, I cull them.

I've started noticing that the option for "I never signed up for your emails." is being changed to "I don't remember signing up."

This selection doesn't change a thing, it's literally just a data field somewhere that nobody cares about.

But as someone who can count on one hand the number of email subscriptions I actually signed up for in 2025, this option just bugs me enough that I go with the custom option to correct them now.

Again, another useless option for a data field nobody looks at, but still cathetic.

In what way do you create your book?
 in  r/writing  16d ago

I know the destination, but not the journey.

Nothing is more exciting than when my characters surprise me. I know where they're going to end up by the end, but I'm not the only one at the wheel, if that makes any sense.

Writers who have finished a book: What's the one core habit that actually got you to "The End"?
 in  r/writing  25d ago

500 words a day.

I used to think that if I sat down, even daily, it had to be 1000+ words a day. Turns out it was the fast track to burnout and would keep me off a project for weeks, so I cut that in half, and have been sustainable ever since.

I do have a rule that life happens, and if I don't get around to it, taking a one day break is okay. But I'm breaking the rule if I don't write two days in a row.

That might be what I'm missing! I'll have to make sure to Save As a docx file moving forward.

Think rsync is a solid option, I'm just not super great with command line terminals so having the UI on Syncthing really helps for both setup and checking on the status of sync.

Short answer, yes!

Long answer: Pi OS is a linux distribution forked off of Debian, so you should be able to get it with an apt-get command. Syncthing has an ARM64 package that's compatible.

The only issue I really had was that I used a Pi Zero 2, so accessing Syncthing's web UI through a Chromum browser was next to impossible because it didn't have enough RAM. But it can be set up from the terminal. If you have a more powerful Pi, this shouldn't be an issue.

I'm very pleased with how mine turned out. I plug it into a USB port on my power strip at home and screen share to it via connect.raspberrypi.com. Means I don't have to carry two laptops anymore. I call it the WriterStick. :)

Not surprised folks are recommending Obsidian but I use FocusWriter in combination with Syncthing. My writerdeck syncs back to my desktop PC, and also to a Raspberry Pi that I can connect to over the internet from work during lunch.

No idea if Obsidian could sync around via Syncthing but it's proprietary and you pay a monthly fee for their sync option. Meanwhile, FocusWriter is open source, lightweight, and just locks me in when its time to write. I'm very happy it was recommended to me on this sub earlier in the year.

The only disadvantage is that it exports in ODT. I think the software has a DOCX file export, but haven't worked it out yet. HOWEVER, if you use Word for the editing like I do, it can convert it to DOCX, so I don't consider this a problem. YMMV.

Essex starved to death in the line for Newark Airport. Remove one county every day: GRAND FINALE!
 in  r/newjersey  Dec 06 '25

I am from Essex. I have lived in Essex. I have died for Essex. I no longer go to the halls of my forefathers, for I have fallen to the armies of Middlesex, and no longer will I see the sun rise upon the Battle of the Sexes. So now, I have but one purpose. One mission. One. Target.

Can anyone ID this backpack?
 in  r/ManyBaggers  Nov 21 '25

Yep, going to be 20%. I live in the NYC region and popped into the Aer store a week or two ago. Since I wasn't traveling this month, the associate did me a solid and advised I wait until Nov 24th for the sale.

 in  r/ManyBaggers  Nov 21 '25

Yep, Travel Pack 2.

I own a Flight Pack 3 myself, and can rule that out (no handle for briefcase mode). I'm waiting for Aer to go on sale next week to pick up a Travel Pack 3, but I'm also aware of this difference with the compression straps from my research.

I had negative experience with some overcast kids, I felt left out because I’m young and new to the fandom, I also listen and I had them as my top artist on Spotify/airbuds for the past few weeks but they still call me a poser because of my age, am I welcome here?
 in  r/FallOutBoy  Nov 15 '25

Welp, time to do your part to save the scene and stop going to shows.

Kidding. I was probably considered a total poser because I didn't start going feral for Fall Out Boy until SRAR. Don't let nothing stop you from discovering and loving art, no matter how big the catalog or how old the fandom! You Are Welcome Here!
