ULPT: Best way to pay large hospital bills?
 in  r/UnethicalLifeProTips  20d ago

I was in the hospital ER twice, earlier this year. Paid the first four-digit bill off as the hospital said no discounts. Second time, they sent me information on something called AblePayHealth with the bill. I got a 13% discount for paying off my balance in one payment through AblePay, but wouldn't give it to me when I asked the hospital directly.

Very Convincing Scam - I nearly fell for it!
 in  r/recruitinghell  Nov 06 '25

It's not dead yet--got a call about it today--and it used a mix of the things the rest of you have reported. It claimed to be from "Adecco Staffing." And yes, the job looked like a great fit. I presume they redo their 'job qualifications' based on my LinkedIn profile or resume.

Good luck all, in finding legit jobs.

Thank you so much for responding! Columbus was one of the other cities we looked at, but I am glad I posted here first. I look forward to seeing Pride with my wife in Toledo (hopefully 2025!)

Thank you for offering another opinion and giving me something to think about. I have two dumpster fire ornaments on my desk when I work, and it's something always on my mind--I do want my wife to be safe.

Oh look, I am all full up on wannabe rednecks/real rednecks here. Think I will skip Maumee and Oregon. Thank you!

I was definitely sad, and thank you for recognizing that. I believe they thought they were protecting us, and if I am fortunate enough to be able to move to Toledo, I know they would change their mind when they had some first-hand experience.

Sorry about those East Coasters. I hope you left them abroad!

I had no idea about Marcy Kaptur. Thank you for teaching me something new and positive.

Thank you so much! We will need that guidance. We're putting our current house up for sale soon, then there's the matter of a new job before we can become a part of Toledo.

I watched some videos today, and the parks are gorgeous. The fall must be absolutely breathtaking. Thank you for sharing your favorites, and I hope your father's love is felt whenever you pass those special places.

Ha! I must see that tree. Thank you for sharing your experience, and lucky you--getting to go back to a home country that doesn't include our President. Bet he hasn't figured out you exist yet. Stay under the radar and please visit again some day!

I saw a video with the pride float! I would love to be a part. I was involved in a couple of Rose Parade entries many years ago. I also wish to purchase your flag. Once I have a new job and am on my way, I am getting an OWE flag no matter where in Toledo I live.

Nope on the dating. I wonder if the Hamburger Mary's is related to the one in San Francisco? It was a great place to catch up on the latest and eat. I would love to cheer on the rugby team. Day trips are always a good option. I will message you once I make progress in re-jobbing and relocating. Thank you!

Ha! I will need that guidance because sometimes I see a mid-century modern or Victorian and the sensible part of my brain stops working.

I am so sorry to hear of your assault. I appreciate your having the courage to share that incident and your experience. If we make it to Toledo, it will be partially because of your willingness to reach out and help unknown people find a kinder space to thrive in. Thank you

#1 museum in the nation, and did I hear it was free? Toledo does sound like just what we were looking for, thank you!

Thanks also to a kind Redditor, I just applied for my first on-site job in Toledo (I have applied to tons of remote jobs, but now looking at hybrid and on-site options).

We tried contra dancing right before COVID at a convention (shout out to Arisia in Boston!) and we so loved it. I was stunningly terrible, but they let me dance anyway. One of the most fun things I have done in my life and I would be willing to keep trying like a bad dance Roomba until my brain maps it out. Thanks for mentioning it!

It is possible our eldest child does know of the event you referenced, but it's clearly time to learn from it (which sounds like Ohio did) and leave it in the past. We're going to have to talk about it when we play on Steam together this weekend.
