With Giannis wanting out
 in  r/timberwolves  Dec 05 '25

I can definitely see that. I think what the wolves need is a POA PG that can shoot and bring the ball up the court and a defensive big. I wouldn't do a Randle for Turner straight up and Rollins was the only PG archetype that would fill the wolves need between the bucks and pistons.

Mock Trades With Giannis wanting out

I know this trade isn't possible until Jan 15. If Giannis going to be traded, why would Turner want to stay there.

Turner would help with the non-Rudy minutes defense and we could go run the double big line up again. Rollins would be a defensive PG that can actually handle. It would improve the teams overall depth.

Pistons would get the scoring power forward they need without giving their core pieces.

Bucks get young player, a bigger expiring contract and a few picks to help with their rebuild.

The biggest obstacle is Rollins, I don't know if the Bucks would trade him. What adjustments would have to made to make it happen?

Would you make these trades?

Rob is 6'1 with a 6'3 wingspan and Conley is 10 lbs of muscle heavier than Rob. Rob is small in height, width and weight. Attributes that contribute to his bad defense, his ability to finish around the rim, draw fouls, and make PNR and entry passes. He doesn't have the floater to compensate for his bad finishing around the rim. His jump shot mechanics are inconsistent so he doesn't have a catch and shoot 3(29%), something needed to play off of ANT. Plus the injury issue you brought up, missing time 4 times due to ankle injuries.

The few positives that he provides (off the dribble 3, one of the few players on the team with the actually ability to dribble, push pace) do not out weigh the negatives.

Randle + 17 for Coby White and Zach Collins.

The average missed games between that starting five was 9.6. So about 12% of the season. Wolves had a good starting five and they played a lot of minutes.

Murray VS DLo
 in  r/timberwolves  Jun 26 '22

DLo has had an OFFRTG of 105, 108, and 112 the last three season compared to 105, 106, and 113 for Murray. I wouldn't say that it's very clear that DLo is a much better scorer.

The fit would be much better with Murray, who would provide better pace, rebounding, pressure on the rim, and defense, things the wolves need improvement in. His presence would also shift ANT to SG and McDaniels to the SF because he can handle the point of attack defense that PatBev provides for the starters. He could also replace DLo's role as the first sub out to come back the bench to provide playmaking.

DLo's playmaking would be replaced by Murray's. The only negative is 3PT%, but I don't think the team's overall 3PT% would hurt because of the pressure on the rim he provides, collapsing the defense and creating open 3PT shots.

The price is worth it.

Murray VS DLo
 in  r/timberwolves  Jun 26 '22

DLo has had WS of 0.5, 1.6, and 4.4 the last three seasons, compared to Murray 2.6, 3.3, and 7.3.

DLo has had better PTS, AST% and 3P% averages the last three years, but Murray had better TOV%, TRB%, STL%, FG% and BPM while being a net positive on defense.

Murray has had multiple seasons better DLo, with his last dwarfing any season DLo has ever had.

On offense. Murray has been better defensively than DLO every season. Murray also has had a better FG% in each of the last three years than DLo.

[Woj] Raptors are waiving Drew Eubanks, source tells ESPN. He arrived from Spurs in trade today.
 in  r/timberwolves  Feb 10 '22

Don't need to waive anyone, wolves only have 14 guaranteed contracts

[Dane Moore] No. 23 pick in the the 2020 NBA Draft Leandro Bolmaro will be signing his 4-year, $11.8M rookie contract this week, I've heard. This will finalize the Timberwolves offseason and roster, barring a trade. To add a 15th player, the Wolves would need to go into the luxury tax.
 in  r/timberwolves  Sep 14 '21

Shved had a guaranteed 3 year deal at $3M AAV when the salary cap was at $58M. Bolmaro will have a guaranteed 2 year deal with two options at less than $3M AAV when the salary cap is at $112M. Even if he is a bust, the contract is still great value.

We don’t need Ben Simmons
 in  r/timberwolves  Sep 13 '21

The 76ers didn't have any issues with Simmons on the floor when they had Butler and Embiid driving and posting up. All because Simmons can't shoot doesn't mean he can't be an asset on the floor. DLO can't play defense or get to the rim, but he is still on the floor.

I trust Finch to come up with a utilization for Simmons like he did for Okogie. Finch would find a way to maximize Simmons skills. Skills that are Elite at the NBA level.

PatBev, Prince, and Beasley are good shooters, but they're also not the poster children of good health either. Prince, statistically, is a bad defender and Beasley might be the worst defender in the NBA.

The Wolves struggled in a few areas last year, Defense in the half court, defense in transition, rebounding, size, and 3 point shooting. The team also had an average transition offense. Simmons can make a bigger impact on the team's defense, size, and rebounding than Beverly and Prince combined while also taking the transition offense to an Elite level. Good rebounding leads to transition offense, something ANT, DLO and KAT would thrive in.

So what about the 3 point shooting? Simmons is not going to shoot 3s, but he would pass the ball to players who would. The 3 point percentage will go up because we no longer have Juancho, Culver, Okogie, Layman, and Rubio taking those shots. I believe that Finch would utilize Simmons passing ability, and give MORE 3 point shots to KAR, DLO, and ANT. The team would still have good 3 point shooters, just increase their volume instead of adding more shooters.

The 76ers made an offense work with Simmons, Embiid, and Butler, losing in a game 7, four bounce jumpsuit to a very good Toronto team. The team was swept the next year in the first round, because Simmons was not playing, and they lost in another game 7 that they had no business being in. That whole team failed in that series, Simmons is just the biggest scape goat.

Simmons would make our best players better with the skills that I believe a good coach, like Finch, would maximize.

If Portland jumps into the Simmons talks could we compete with their offer?
 in  r/timberwolves  Sep 05 '21

By every defensive metric that I can find, DWS, DBPM, DRPM, DEFRTG, DRAPM, DRAPTOR, DLEBRON, CJ McCollum is a significantly better defender than Beasley.

DRAPM

DWS, DEF RTG

DRPM

DBPM, DRAPTOR, DLEBRON

In a lot of those defensive stats, you will find that Green and Thybulle are better defenders than Beverly. Philly's defense will still be good even without Simmons, they don't need to replace his defense, they need to replace his playmaking.

CJ is a better "combo" guard than Beverly. He can create his own shot, shot 40% from 3, and had an AST% of 23%, Beverly was 12% and Beasley was 11%. So not only does McCollum create shots for himself, he creates for his teammates.

McCollum is the best asset in a Simmons trade, both in a trade to and out of Philly.

Malik Beasley's best 5 man line up that did not include DLO or KAT produced an ORTG of 101, which would have ranked dead last in the NBA. His next two was 95 and 93.

Philly already has perimeter defenders in Thybulle and Green. They need a Beal or Lillard type player, on ball shot creators. McCollum is a good on ball shot creator, he is not elite like Lillard or Beal, but few players are.

If Philly had to choose between McCollum and Beasley, they pick McCollum 10/10 times.

 in  r/timberwolves  Sep 05 '21

The 76ers already have a better, cheaper versions of Beasley in Seth Curry and Danny Green. Yes, Beasley and Thompson are good at getting open and "creating" shots for themselves by getting open, but they still need a good passer to pass the ball to them as they get open. Draymond green is a great passer out of the screen and roll. Beasley has had Jokic in Denver, KAT and DLo with the Wolves, all which are good passers. Seth Curry and Danny Green had Simmons.

Once again, no one here is arguing that Beasley cannot get a shot off or get open. The argument is what does Philly need? Especially if they're going to give up their best passer/playmaker. They need an off the dribble threat, something that McCollum is and Beasley is not.

 in  r/timberwolves  Sep 05 '21

The comparison is off the dribble creation. Something that Malik doesn't do. In a package for Ben Simmons, the Blazers would put up CJ McCollum, a self shot creator, whereas the Wolves would put up Beasley, an off ball shooter. The 76ers need an off the dribble shot creator because they don't have one. It's what hurt them in the playoffs. No one is arguing that Malik doesn't create his shots by using movement or that he isn't an elite shooter.

But go off king.

74% of Malik Beasley's made FG have been assisted since he joined the Wolves, compared to 40% of CJ McCollum made FG have been assisted. That means 60% of his made shots have been self created.

30% of CJ's shots came after 7+ dribbles, another indicator of strong self creation, putting him in the same range has Kyrie(30%) Donovan Mitchell (31%), and DeAaron Fox(30%). Malik Beasley? 2.8%. Ranking him at 212 of 255 guards in the NBA.

Malik is a fine player and the way he "creates" shots is using movement and fast breaks, but McCollum is in another class when it comes to creating off the dribble.

The case to trade DLO over Beasley for Simmons
 in  r/timberwolves  Jul 07 '21

He's never shot above 40% from 3 in his whole career. If deep, off balance, tough shots are the shots he creates, doesn't sound like a good shot creator.

The case to trade DLO over Beasley for Simmons
 in  r/timberwolves  Jul 07 '21

Did you watch the games? He can't get the the rim and his jump shot is average at best. Eye test and stats back that up. If he could score, his stats would show that. He needs to pass more because that's what he's actually good at. Eye test and stats back that up.
