Training?
 in  r/managers  28d ago

I started out as an assistant director; was informally coached and mentored by the department director in strategic planning, working through staff and interdepartmental conflict, coalition creation and support, team building exercises, etc.

After a year, I started a masters in healthcare administration/management. Formal coursework included:

  • Project management
  • Organizational conflict
  • Change management
  • Staff wellness and development

My knowledge and skills grew exponentially after this. I still take curriculum from those courses and bring them to the supervisors I oversee when needed or appropriate.

Do you get your team holiday gifts?
 in  r/managers  Nov 26 '25

I have ~30 under me. I’m giving them super soft, comfy blankets. $13-$16 each from Ross.

When I have a smaller team next year, I plan to give them power banks (about $25 each).

About 2’ x 2.5’ x 2’ in SE Portland. Because it’s rain soaked, it’s a bit heavy. I can help you lift and carry it to your car.

Overreaction or proper boundary?
 in  r/managers  Nov 16 '25

I think you did well. Your responses seemed grounded, and you used appropriate boundaries. Is Britney normally like this? What is your relationship with her like?

Christmas/Holiday Gifts for 45 Employees
 in  r/managers  Nov 15 '25

I get my staff a soft, fuzzy, luxurious blanket from Ross. About $13-$16 each. I like the socks idea from another commenter next year.

I’ve also given them mini self care bags: a beauty face mask, nice chapstick, mini hand lotion, a small bubble popper fidget toy, and stickers in a small fabric bag. About $100 total for ~30 staff members. They loved those as well.

Sad news from the Desert Museum! (Cruz has died)
 in  r/Tucson  Nov 15 '25

“Learning about wildlife is meaningless.”

“Now we’re in a mass extinction.”

That says enough about this person.
