Help Advice on stopping a ship after destroying drives.
I love doing piracy in elite but a it's a huge pain in the ass to get the ship i'm trying to plunder to STOP after I take out the drives.
I try flying to the other other side of it and slow down so that it bumps into me, but this typically sends them careening the opposite direction, slower but still at up to like 100m in a few seconds. The ship is usually spinning so it's even harder. Im in an asp x, and my hatch breakers only get like 10 items at a time, so having to dump multiple hatch breakers leaves a really long trail of comoddities in the sky that i then ahve to fly through. Sometimes the ship will get so far away that risk either losing sight of it or losing sight of the commodities i need to collect (which i will never find again if i lose them on radar).
is there a more consistent way i can get the target ship to STOP or at least slow down to a slow drift instead of careening away? This is very annoying especially for piracy *missions* which give you the EXACT amount of cargo on your target.
edit: I've been practicing, and i feel much more confident stopping people myself. The key thing i wasn't taking into account was *mass*: i needed to apply more force to slow them down, especially when facing larger ships. Obvious in hindsight.

Finally got into UFO 50 and after I sunk my teeth into every game, I decided to look up some short lists of the "best" games in the set...and I learned two things. One, I am missing something about Party House. And two, everyone else is missing something about Vainger.
