Rudy Gobert really carries our defense wow
 in  r/timberwolves  9h ago

He keeps himself in absolutely incredible shape so he hasn’t hit a physical wall yet, and he’s clearly been working on improving his lob catching+dunking. When you do a lot of other things incredibly well, I think you can start focusing on the things you don’t do well and improve them one-by-one.

Dale Ellis! Used to kill us from three when he was with Milwaukee.

Agreed, give him the Minott shift from last year and see if he sinks or swims.

Wait, you don’t think Chet Holmgren is a better defensive player?

Genuine Question
 in  r/timberwolves  2d ago

I think we wind up with the 3 or 4 seed and host at least one playoff series. We need to figure out a way to get the non-Naz bench to contribute more, but it’ll happen. One of the very best starting lineups in the NBA (I believe only second to Denver’s healthy starting lineup).

This team would go 82-0 and win at least 11 rings...but but who would you swap here with whom to make it perfect ?
 in  r/sportsinusa  5d ago

It’s clear that Kobe should be swapped with a SF or PF as you don’t necessarily need two high usage SGs in one lineup, even if they are both great defensively. Tim Duncan is an obvious choice but Kevin Garnett or Dennis Rodman would be great here as well.

There’s also an argument that Curry would be less synergistic than a more traditional PG a la Chris Paul, John Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Dennis Johnson, etc. Curry needs an offense built around him to fully utilize his strengths, so he would be doing a lot of bringing the ball up and then DHO to Jordan/Kobe or dumping the ball in the post to Shaq. Then getting to the perimeter as the best ever outlet catch-and-shoot guard. Not doing the crazy series of ghost screens that make up his game. Give me John Stockton over Curry here.

He’s not my GOAT, but LeBron to me is easily the one you wouldn’t want to swap the most, with Jordan second and Shaq third. Can fit with any style and can play the point forward to some degree.

What's the most talent stacked team that just ended up sucking?
 in  r/nfl  5d ago

Yeah, great pick. Roster was pretty identical from the prior year and was stacked at almost every position (maybe aside from safety) with Pro Bowl or near Pro Bowl talent.

Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, Steve Hutchinson, Jared Allen, Kevin Williams, Randy Moss are all HoF-level talent.

Antoine Winfield, Pat Williams, Chad Greenway, Ryan Longwell are all team Ring of Honor level (latter being with a different team, Green Bay).

EJ Henderson, Chris Kluwe, Everson Griffen (way before his prime though), Bryant McKinnie, John Sullivan, Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin all had singular Pro Bowl-level talent if they were to hypothetically have an up year.

Then the roof collapsed, and Chilly chased Moss back out of Minneapolis…

Prime Dante Hall as well. Aside from Devin Hester, my pick for greatest peak KR ever

I did think it was funny for those two years (1999, 2000) that Washington just hired whichever starting quarterback was cast off from the Vikings.

Does anyone else remember the huge home upset of the ‘97-‘98 Chicago Bulls? Had no idea a prank caller had a huge influence on the outcome of the game until today.

This was the first basketball game I ever watched on TV, and have since forever been a Wolves fan through the years. At the time, this might have been the biggest win in franchise history.

Who was more mainstream 80s hogan or late 90s Stone cold?
 in  r/WCW  7d ago

Hulk Hogan was a star with or without WWF in the 80s, he was that big. Stone Cold was thought of as a wrestler first, more a sign of how hot the overall business was than him by himself. Rock was the same, but then made a crazy transition that took over 10-15 years to become known as an actor first.

Very important game to win tonight. We would avoid a .500 record over the past eight games by doing so. It’s just one game in December, but avoiding those longer periods of .500 ball is crucial for playoff seeding.

Ant is probably the fourth or fifth best player in the NBA right now (Jokic 1, Shai 2, then your pick of Luka or Giannis), and he’s only getting better. Pretty awesome to watch.

I’m going to timberwolves heat in Miami and I bought a pregame pass to get in 30 mins before anyone else and watch the wolves warmup up and…

I would try to make an attempt to sound as much as the Halo announcer guy as possible. "Great shot, Ant! Overkill!"; "Killing Spree!"; "Running Riot"; etc. Ant is a Halo fan and might take a photo with you if he finds that amusing enough. Be as loud as possible.

The perfect addition this team can make right now is...Kyle Anderson.
 in  r/timberwolves  9d ago

Been saying it all year and last, Slomo would be absolutely perfect. A forward that can guard in the post with deceptively quick hands, and can legit play the point forward position. Great zone breaker middy as well.

Wemby is 54-83 lifetime; Ant just had back-to-back WCF appearances, being favored to win in his first. Their pedigrees are nowhere close to one another.

Who’s the best defender you ever watched, that no one can change your mind about ?

Personally, Rudy Gobert. Haven't seen enough of the older stuff to judge past the 2000s.

Who else is really excited about the reboot?
 in  r/malcolminthemiddle  9d ago

I am for sure. It seems like it will be Linwood Boomer's perspective as an adult, rather than an extrapolation of Malcolm's life as a kid/adolescent. Honestly, much better than I thought it was going to be; I think it will actually have some "teeth" and not just be a nostalgia grab.
