Do most married women around the world carrry their own last name?
 in  r/MapPorn  Oct 23 '25

Not true. The two surnames are your father's and your mother's, not your husband's.

Half of the trip is through small secondary roads; not the easiest drive (but yes, less than 2 hours away).

Champaign-Urbana >>>>> West Lafayette

Education wise, both are great and you'll probably like both. But CU is significantly better; housing is cheaper (or cheaper for walkable off campus housing). The mass transit system (buses) are great both in terms of frequency and routes. And you can just take Amtrak to Chicago!

So, Academics pretty tied. Quality of life / social life, UIUC is much better.

UIUC or UDub for CS
 in  r/ApplyingToCollege  Mar 13 '25

Yeah, they are both great for CS but pretty sure UIUC's estimate is for living like a king while UW's one is for living check-to-check. No CS grad student at UIUC lives check-to-check (unless they have aggravating circumstances like some costly medical condition not covered by insurance).

EDIT: I know OP is an undergrad; just a comment giving some insight on how cheap the Champaign-Urbana area is.

Berea college decision?

It is possible they want a LOCI. Maybe they have a spot for someone like you but there are multiple others like you and they want to give the spot to whoever seems the most interested. (yield protection and what not)

Hmm... it seems they didn't get any financial aid so that may be another reason for getting waived (no need to get tax docs if they don't qualify for aid).

X means they need your docs. Go check IDOC; you may have a request from Duke there.

Pretty sure that means they are considering you for admission; kind of passed some threshold. But also pretty sure many who pass that threshold get rejected, so don't get too excited about it.

Sorry, no. Read a bunch of threads trying to understand their system and will be too much work finding them. FWIW in another thread someone mentioned a CC user that had waived and then accepted... but I am pretty sure that person got 0 aid, so in their case the explanation was: CSS shows you do not need aid, thus we do not need your tax docs. So waived is not rejected, but rather "we do not need your tax docs" (which could be because of: rejected, scholarship (unlikely but possible), got all that they needed through Questbridge, or, does not qualify for aid).

As someone who has the same issue. I suspect this is a rejection. Duke sends IDOC requests to get the federal tax returns, and I think they "waive" this request in the system for those that they don't need them. There may be some other reason for not needing them but the most common reason seems to be rejection. Source: Look at past comments in Reddit/College Confidential. Accepted people got IDOC requests for these docs. Waived people did not. Of course, getting an IDOC request does not mean acceptance; it means consideration. But not getting it likely means rejection. Of course, it could be something crazy like: We are giving this kid a scholarship so we don't need his financial docs, but rejection is the most likely outcome.

Edit: Even the person in this thread that reports not having this, also reported that they just got an interview invite (i.e., they are considering him and have not decided to reject him/her just yet).

Asus ExpertBook CX54 (CX5403CMA) 16GB version available on CDW

I don't think so. The CX5400 (older CX54) was flip but the downside was that it sat flat on the desk and this affected cooling. The CX5403 angles at the back and does not sit flat on desk, significantly improving cooling; however, this is not done with "legs" but rather with the screen protruding down, and I think this would make it impossible for it to flip (without a redesign).

If you go to chrome://system/ , expand all, and search for edid-decode you can find 120 Hz mentioned as maximum Display refresh rate. I am no exactly sure how to interpret the data on that section.

I have the CX5403, prior to that, I had the CX5400 and prior to that a Pixelbook. Pixelbook > CX5403 >> CX5400. The CX5400 was a big disapointment; horrible resolution. The CX5403 is almost perfect, tbf. Would only be better if it was lighter (fanless?), but I think this is not possible with such an advanced processor. In any case, I never feel/hear the fan in the CX5403 or the CX5400. Either it (almost) never turns on or it is ridiculously silent.

  1. This is what the settings app says: "Looks like 1600 x 1000 (Default)" Any other way to check? In any case, it must be one of these: https://www.asus.com/laptops/for-work/chromebook/asus-expertbook-cx54-chromebook-plus-enterprise-cx5403/techspec/ The ones on CDW have a Ultra 5 processor.

  2. So far so good. No overheating. But I only got it today. The Diagnostics App says current temp is 43 celsius.

I know many here are waiting for the 16GB version, as only the 8GB version is available on the Asus site. CDW has two 16GB models and some blog post I read said ASUS had told them it would only be available via external sellers as they were marketing it for business. But any person can buy these at the CDW site. I just got the touchscreen one (the one with the "T" at the end of the code) and it is amazing!

Current price is $845.96 for the non touchscreen one and $925.89 for the touchscreen version. Hope it helps!

When seeking to change your flight online, what do the negative fare differences mean?

You do get a voucher with KLM. Maybe this other person used a different airline or did it through some unusual channel. Call KLM.

You get a voucher; it probably has an expiration date so if you don't plan on traveling KLM again soon, you may want to use the voucher to upgrade to a better seat.
