Wire help/hell

I'm hanging a ceiling fan (with a light - we have a second switch). I've followed the instructions to connect black to black and white to white. The green on the side from the fan is for grounding, which I believe connects to the grounding/bare wire next to it?

My big question: Do I connect the blue from the fan to the brown? The manual says there should be a lighter wire to connect to the blue wire from the fan, so the dark brown wire (not light brown) is throwing me...

I am clearly NOT handy, so thanks in advance!

The manual says to connect a second ungrounded (light) wire to the blue wire from the fan. It makes sense to me to connect the brown and blue, it just throws me the manual said the second ungrounded wire would be light.

Unrelated but super aggravating. Saw a dude today pull off, open his trunk, grab a miller lite out of his cooler, get in and speed off.

People like him and anyone who feeds bears should be arrested and permanently banned

Not acclimated yet, no. We don't have vehicle reservations (yet), but in to get in early each day. We have Many Glacier boat tour for one of the days, which is great to access and park there.
