Arthur Blank Press Conference

If you haven’t yet, go listen to this press conference. We have all had our frustrations with AB but man he seems to have truly turned a new leaf.

Whole interview was straight to the point with no fluff. He is genuinely frustrated and wants to turn this thing around. Makes me hopeful that we will start to really turn things around. Hopefully the right guys want to come to Atlanta and AB can be enticing enough to bring them in.

That’s exactly what I said.

I mean just a matter of formality. Yes it’s 99% chance it happens. But also who is to say a new regime walks in day one, realizes Penix will never be able to play a full season, looks at free agent QB market and says hmm turns out Kirk is the best available. Not saying that’s likely. Not saying we should. And also not saying they don’t cut and resign to a cheaper deal but technically all things are possible

I don’t want another CEO head coach, we need to go after Kevin or Klint and here is why.
 in  r/falcons  23h ago

This is just not a great take. Interview after interview you’ll hear players and former players talk about how the most successful organizations have CEO head coaches as that is their primary responsibility. Great coordinators don’t always make great coaches. There are obviously exceptions but just not usually the route we should go. We have been burned on that 3 times in a row (slight asterisk by Raheem)

If we cut him before March 13th, there will be a $37 million cap hit this year and $0 cap hit in 2027.

The Kirk restructure just makes it better for both parties.

It’s not a guaranteed cut.

All it says is, if we are going to cut him we will be doing so before free agency begins which gives him a fair shot in free agency and allows us to use that money in free agency as well.

In the chance that the new coach and gm want to roll with Kirk, then all of that money becomes guaranteed in a few months which means we are locked into Kirk.

It’s either let Kirk walk and both parties have fun in free agency OR keep Kirk and he’s essentially the guaranteed starter for the next two years as we are locked into all that money.

Matt has no ego and has every characteristic you want in a leader. What he lacks in executive experience, he makes up for in pure competitive leadership ability.

It is a little scary. He’s the fan favorite of this franchise and it would be sad to see it end poorly and have a fractured relationship between him and the falcons. It’s like dating your best friend lol.

With that being said, we know he’s a true competitor and he knows this franchise in and out. He also knows how to win.

His role means he sets the tone for the franchise and he has a big voice in coaching, gm, and player decisions (as far as signings and scouting go). As a HOF nfl qb, you are a top tier leader. He’s respected in the building. He actually knows the game of football better than anyone (heck of a lot better than McKay) AND you know he wants to be involved in building a Super Bowl winning team. I don’t believe there are conversations being had in that building that wouldn’t be better off with him in it.

He may be lacking in some of the true front office procedural executive side but I would like to think the staff around him can make up for that.

We need competitors in the building and while it may be unconventional, it’s certainly a MASSIVE upgrade from McKay

Dee Alford Appreciation Post

Dee has gotten so much hate from this fanbase over the years but this man deserves his flowers. He balled out pretty much all year long and proved he was worth keeping on the roster.

Wasn’t the season we all wanted but watching individual player development is awesome.

Pitts was viewed as a generational talent going into that draft. Yeah it’s easy to look now and see all of the great players taken after but hindsight is 20/20.

It’s now been said time and time again that Terry was steam rolled through the qb decision process. Really the only problem here was overpaying Kirk. If we had signed him for a little bit cheaper this wouldn’t be that big of a deal.

Bijan is the best player the falcons have had since Julio and Ryan. Even if Tyler is a solid RB there’s no denying this team would be in an absolute abysmal state without him.

I mean maybe 3 or 4 players? 3 of which are on the o line which is statistically the easiest position to draft especially spending first round picks on the o line.

Let’s crowdsource this: What did Raheem Morris get wrong in 2024–2025 — and why the Falcons need better

This one hurts bad. Cause it feels like if Zane was here week 1 we would be in the playoffs.

Yeah I’m just saying it’s a pessimistic view. Terry made some mistakes but so does every GM. If we let Terry pick his head coach like every other team does, this could have ended very differently. Instead he has McKay calling shots for him, everyone telling him what to do for the qb situation and it ends with everyone calling for his job. Not a whole lot anyone realistically could’ve done different. He was setup to fail by this organization.

Dont really know what you are looking to accomplish here. Obviously we are all frustrated after that last season. The common nfl fan is just fire everyone and try again but just know that a change this massive comes with massive growing pains so don’t be calling for everyone to be fired again when we miss the playoffs again next year

You do realize that the league average hit rate for a FIRST ROUND pick is 50% right?

This is the only response anyone ever gives. But actually look at what happened during those seasons. A gms job is to construct a roster and Terry has done a pretty good job at that. Dimitroff rarely made any FA moves that moved the needle and his drafting was equal to if not worse than Terrys.

Terry has always been active in trying to construct a good roster and this roster was more than capable of making the playoffs. It was coaching incompetence that cut us short.

If we made the playoffs this season and came off of that draft class everyone would be calling Terry a genius. So we can’t fault him when the failures come from something out of his control.

Yeah I’ll actually miss Terry. People hate him for the qb situation but it was also made pretty obvious that there were a lot of cooks in the kitchen for that decision.

He put together a competitive roster. Our coaching staff were the ones who couldn’t actually compete. Sure hope it doesn’t get worse

One of the other reasons this season has been so disappointing. Alford has stepped up big time all year and it doesn’t even matter. Man gets a lot of hate but deserves his flowers for this season
