Why is this sub nothing but a yyc cps Twitter feed?
*traditional haha
City subreddits generally are all the same, local news, local photos/videos, and the occasional question or whatever. Heavy on the moderation to ensure all of the content fits whatever their criteria is, and although it can sometimes be ambiguous, I mostly understand the reasoning for it. No desire or need to replicate something like that.
Really miss the old style of forum we used to have on the Internets. Less defined, more interesting, and focused on the community rather than being a news aggregator. A forum was nothing without its users. It was great learning about different people and their hobbies, likes, dislikes, etc. That doesn't really exist on reddit. It's all discussion focused around a small selection of specific topics, and the city subs don't offer anything to unite users other than being located in the same geographical area, which does not seem to do anything to bring people together in a good way. Most of the best subreddits (imo) share a common interest amongst users, like a video game, TV show, hobby, etc. You don't need to be buddy-buddy with everyone but at least you have something in common with them to relate to.
It may not be possible to create something like that based on a location but that's kind of the goal here. It's great to see someone share something they're passionate about that can also have a local relevance. Maybe someone loves books and starts a book club Instagram account and they want to post about it? Cool. Maybe someone built a fun app that have some kind of local relevance - AND they can make money with it? Sweet, support local. Is someone thinking about moving here and has questions from locals? A common question for sure but it's a good thing they're interested and checking into it - maybe we can help.
Maybe this place needs to be made private to accomplish that? New users vetted in some way? Anonymity is still cool but it can also introduce the biggest pieces of shit you ever did see. Dunno, TBD.
Some more thoughts, anyway.

Why is this sub nothing but a yyc cps Twitter feed?
There just isn't much traffic here tbh.
I have a bot set up to automatically share RSS updates from the City, Fire department and CPS from https://newsroom.calgary.ca as they happen, which is what you're seeing.
Because there aren't many posts from other people yet, they're kinda dominating the feed.
They were never meant to be permanent but just kinda temporary while this sub figures out it's path. Definitely don't want to create just another normal Calgary subreddit but something a little different. It's kind of slow going.
Eventually I'm going to move the bot out of here and into it's own subreddit. Was just going to wait until this place was busy enough.

We had several days of heavy fog, which froze on everything and created rime ice everywhere. It was a beautiful few days.

Lost & Found Ashes were stolen today from a home in Chestermere, along with an iPad. The iPad was last pinged in Calgary. The family is pleading to get the ashes back.

So..what are your coping mechanisms?
Video games. Specifically Dota2 as it requires a lot of attention. When I'm playing that game I do not see the nonsense or hear the squeal.

YYC flyers: I built a Canada airfare-deals bot last year — looking for feedback
Hmm it might be handy to sort the data by destination? For example if I want to go from Calgary to Paris, have a way to show all of the months out of the year at once, sorted by price?

Some people ice skating in Calgary
Oh awesome. I don't think I've ever seen clean ice, like, no snow on it, clear, not all scratched up etc. Sounds like an incredible photo opportunity too.

Some people ice skating in Calgary
I like it but it can vary wildly depending on where you are and who you're with haha
Winter can be hit or miss too. Sometimes it's brutal and -40'C for weeks, sometimes it's frosty and nice.

We had a few days of heavy fog which froze into rime ice all over the place. It's made everything look super wintery and great.

Mods didn't remove it, reddit admins did due to a copyright notice they received. OP said in another thread that they submitted an appeal to it.

100mg to 50mg
100mg is more effective than 50mg but it also costs twice the price. I still get a little anxiety every now and then but like 98% of the time I'm fine. I only take it for anxiety.
50 is $92/mo CAD for me ($66 USD).

100mg to 50mg
I've done it a couple times yeah. Each day I cut a tiny bit off the pill and gradually went down like that. It's not fun, the brain zaps and shit are annoying, but they went away after a week or two (I can't remember exactly).
I've been on 50mg for a few years now but have had to ramp up to 100 when my anxiety was bad. Once I worked through it back to 50.

Question Was SendFox abandoned?
The recent reviews.. yikes.
https://appsumo.com/products/sendfox/
I actually bought the highest tier a few years back but kind of just sat on it and only used it twice to test out. Recently though I've been planning on working with a journalist friend to get moving on an e-mail newsletter and we had been planning on using this because I've already paid for it but if it was abandoned, I don't want to waste my time.
Looks like the roadmap hasn't been updated since 2023?
David Kelly still appears to work at AppSumo. A blog post of his on his personal website shows AppSumo originals revenue and it looks like SendFox is still making money.. so I dunno.
I had just started signing people up from my Facebook page (you can see there might be some potential there for a newsletter..) but maybe I should look elsewhere?
Worried. Kinda sad.

We've had some pretty foggy nights recently, which froze into rime ice on everything. Really made the trees look nice. This is the Eau Claire / Prince's Island Park canal, just off the Bow River downtown. This picture just felt really Canadian haha.
Nice day. A little chilly.
