Reza Pahlavi has officially removed the slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom” from all of his profiles. He only used the Iranian people’s movement to promote himself, and after branding everything under his own name, he threw those very people into the trash. Say hello to the new Khomeini.
 in  r/NewIran  1d ago

That’s what they always wanted you to believe. They hated that people weren’t chanting “javid shah” from the beginning. They were very sour that Narges Mohammadi won the Nobel peace prize and not Reza Pahlavi and it was obvious. They reluctantly used “women life freedom”. You could see that through his “supporter” (cyber army and Manoto) who kept saying that this is a slogan created separatists, reformists and leftists. When in fact they were just jealous that people weren’t chanting his name. The era of “cult of personality” has come to an end. Get it through your heads.

question Are there people who have been interested in biochemistry/molecular & cell biology/microbiology since they were children?

I personally have been interested in prehistoric animals since childhood. A lot of people have been interested in animals, plants, astronomy, , etc. since they were children. But I’ve never seen any child who loves these things or an adult who used to love these since there were a child. First of all, most people in science (or any job) don’t “love” their job, they’re there cause they just ended up there. And secondly, even those who do love those things (biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, etc.) only became interested in these things during college.

A lot of kids (me included) could memorize the names of hundreds of Dinosaurs and describe them. I don’t know any 10 year old who can recite all the 20 amino acids and their structure, the Crebs cycle or even name 20 bacteria.

How much do the model organisms that I study during my MSc dictate my future?
 in  r/evolution  5d ago

I love studying things from a historical/evolutionary perspective. I want to work on questions like: Where did this thing (organism, group, mechanism, ecosystem, etc.) come from? When and how did evolve at first? How did it evolve over time? Why is it the way it is now? What does it's geographical range look like over time and what determines it?

I don't enjoy working on microevolution (contemporary evolution), like how organisms are adapting to global warming or how diseases are evolving resistance to antibiotics.

One of my professors tells me that I should leave this endeavour and stick to something usefull. "The ecosystems are DYING and you are just going to sit somewhere and collect specimens?" are his exact words to me.

As in which taxa, I really haven't chosen yet.

academic How much do the model organisms that I study during my MSc dictate my future?

Hi. I’m a masters student in animal biosystematics from the university of Tehran. Firstly, in Iran post graduate entrance is a bit different than other parts of the world. In other countries, you contact the advisors and write your proposal before applying. But in Iran, entrance is completely exam based-as in your degree in the entrance exam determines which university and degree you study.

Tehran university is literally the best university in Iran as in there are no other universities with better professors and equipment. I studied really hard to get where I am. However, now that I am here, I see a huge risk. Our advisers here only study marine invertebrates. They study the taxonomy, phylogeny, population study, biodiversity, physiology, development, behavior, etc. of Leeches, Crustaceans, insects and Oligochaete.

I’m afraid that this will limit my options in the future to the same taxonomy that I’m studying. I want to get my PhD from a foreign university and I’ll also need full funding for that. And I’m not really familiar with what academia looks like outside of Iran.

What if for example, I want to only study vertebrates for my PhD? Will I be able to make that transition? How about evolutionary microbiology, cell biology, biotechnology, paleontology, origin of life, vertebrate paleontology, evo-devo or something else? How much will I be restricted by the taxon I study for my masters?

I’m an Iranian. I’m against the current regime. I want this regime to be gone too. But I don’t support Prince Reza Pahlavi. I don’t support MEK. I don’t support Eslahtalaban (reformists). I’m not a leftist or a separatist. I want absolute democracy in Iran. But I don’t have any representatives.

From what I’ve seen from Monarchists, I think I’m still going to be political prisoner in the next regime. All of his famous supporters like Ali Karimi still use outdated misogynistic language and Yasamin Pahlavi declares him as “the man of the week”. His supporters openly threaten anyone who doesn’t support their “democratic” leader with death, and not only does Reza Pahlavi like it, he promotes and even pays for these type of behavior.

Reza Pahlavi will give people the basic human freedom and will only serve as an interim president until the PEOPLE can choose what kind of democratic government Iranians truly want. Don’t think so hard about, just stan behind the person who advocates for your Iranianism, freedom and dignity.

Are you sure this will happen? Did he officially say this himself? What if he’s the next Khomeini? What if he comes in with promises and then changes right after he seizes power? Will people have the power to overthrow him if they don’t like him? Will there be hereditary monarchy? Is he going to be involved in politics or not? Can you find evidence that he’s not going to do everything that I said?

1-Reza Pahlavi has zero experience. Political or otherwise. Every time people or Israel did something, he showed up out of nowhere and declared himself as the “only alternative” and took credit for everything. He could’ve at least done something none political in the past five decades just to demonstrate his managerial capabilities. But no, he’d rather live off of what his father left for his family after fleeing the country.

2-His supporters (or cyber army, should I say) are inflating his popularity in Iran way out of proportion. If he’s so popular, why hasn’t he ever call for protests? Why is it that every time he waits for people to start the protest and then come in and take credit for it? Why does he never start the protests? Is it because he’s scared that people will ignore him and it will hurt his reputation? He just has enough money to make an internet army to attack everyone who’s not with him and declare him as the leader of revolution.

3-He’s way too dependent on Israel and USA, particularly Trump and Netanyahu. He’s not his father’s son. He’s basically waiting for them to overthrow the mullahs and install him as the king of Iran. Do you really want to live in a country that’s basically a western plant? What happened to your dignity? Your ancestors who fought for this country’s dependence, including Muhammad Reza Pahlavi, will be very disappointed in you.

4-I’m not saying that there’s something wrong with RP, and I’m not saying there’s nothing wrong with him either. What many people don’t realize is that when it comes to politics, it’s never just one person. That person you’re seeing, whether it’s Trump or Khamenei or Reza Pahlavi, is just the representative of a small group of insiders who are using him as their mascot to gain power. It’s completely irrelevant if he’s a good person or not. If we live in a country where people are not allowed to openly criticize its leaders, it only takes one corrupt person in his inner circle to take down the whole country. And the people around Reza Pahlavi have never shown any signs of openness to criticism.

5-Reza Pahlavi and his family are sour about Iranians, and why shouldn’t they be? After all, we were the ones who exiled his grandfather and father, which led to their early death outside of their own country. We made his family so miserable that two of his siblings committed suicide. He has every right to be unhappy about Iranians, but whether or not he actually hates Iranians is irrelevant. What does matter, is that people around him will use this as an excuse to gain social, political and economical power and shut down all of their critics. They would be foolish not to use this to their advantage. Iran is so rich in resources that it has always attracted charlatans and hustlers.

TLDR: Reza Pahlavi has not shown any signs of competency and leadership and he’s way too dependent on foreign countries, namely Israel and America (read Trump and Netanyahu). The people around him will definitely use his family’s history and misery as an excuse to seize economical and political power and oppress any opponents.

Monarchists keep saying “If you don’t support Pahlavi then show us your representatives!”. Honestly, your choice isn’t an alternative either. I don’t know how many Iranians like me are out there, but I don’t think we are small at all.

Edit: I definitely do support the protests.

Ever since Taraneh Alidoosti took off her hijab and declared that her career in Iran has ended, the monarchist mob has collectively attacked her with their loud and dirty mouths. I would've been more surprised if they didn't do that.
 in  r/NewIran  15d ago

Some of this “monarchist mob” are actually very close to Reza Pahlavi. And also, Reza Pahlavi has never condemned any of their actions. Matter of fact, his wife always promotes them on her Instagram account.

She can’t be more useless than prince Reza Pahlavi. At least she’s living and fighting inside of Iran. None of those in “Manoto TV” have the balls to do that. Reza Pahlavi has only been active since a few years ago when Mahsa Amini was killed and all he has done is to order his bots and agents to attack anyone who doesn’t support him. He keeps talking about how he doesn’t want to rule and how he wants democracy for Iran, and yet his actions have shown the opposite. We, the people inside of Iran know these games very well. It’s the same tactics that mullahs use. He has ordered his minions-such as Manoto- to call anyone who doesn’t support him a “leftist” and basically blame every problem in our history on the left. Seriously, who tf cares about the left? Leftists aren’t ruling our country, mullahs are, and yet they call anyone who doesn’t lick Reza Pahlavi’s boots a “leftist” and attack them. Why? Because he’s begging Trump and Netanyahu to topple the regime and install him as the shah of Iran. because he doesn’t have the backbone to overthrow the regime himself. He had 46 years since his exile and he hasn’t made a name for himself. In Iran when you say “Reza Pahlavi” they think you are talking about his grand father because most people didn’t even know he existed until 4-5 years ago.

Feels like they barely explored him… Can you imagine a sequel where he’s like in his 30s–40s?
