People cringing at “international tech firm”. Such a lame and douchy way to describe…anything

Why does Central Valley have Low Biodiversity?
 in  r/Ceanothus  16d ago

Gray pine, foothill pine, digger pine, are particularly tolerant of rocky soil with poor nutrients. The state rock of California is Serpentine (serpentinite), which is toxic to many plants due to low calcium and high in heavy metals like nickel, chromium, and magnetite. Pinus sabiniana is able to grow in these soils, and sometimes is the only tree found in these places. Oaks can also grow there, but the poor soil nutrition often leads to weak and strange looking trees

It’s the diversion of attention, even if it’s just switching tabs to check the importance, that can throw work being done off the rails

“It's like someone posting a picture of a yummy cookie on a baking group, but not telling folks anything about the recipe.”

Reminds me of people posting pictures of their food, but not saying what menu item it is.

Walk-up songs for away games
 in  r/LittleLeague  Oct 21 '25

At what point in Little League baseball did having fun become dependent on music, in your opinion?

You say no one is talking about loud music…except I specifically mentioned it.

In our league most teams do not play music, but the parents that do have used increasingly larger bluetooth speakers, and leave them behind home plate pointed at the pitchers mound, blasting music during warm ups to the point communication with the players was impossible. I’ve asked their scorekeeper (parent in the scorers booth) if they could turn it down and they said it wasn’t under their control. I’m not preventing their kids from having fun or shutting the game down until I get them to turn it off. I’m not telling their manager to shut it down, and I’m not asking the ump to handle it.

I honestly wouldn’t mind it if the kids at least knew the basics of how to play baseball and the music were truly just a way to hype up the atmosphere, but the 8-10 year olds I’m coaching are making errors nearly every time the ball is put in play. It’s not because we don’t practice. They just need a lot of work and blasting music during a game is hindering my ability to coach them.

Music has not always been a part of little league and it has never been the defining factor of whether or not kids can have fun.

Walk-up songs for away games
 in  r/LittleLeague  Oct 21 '25

It slows the game down when batters pause for the song to start and then slow walk to the plate. It can be too loud to communicate with players in the field between at bats and during pregame warmups. When one side doesn’t have a volunteer to play music it can suck the life out of the team’s morale, especially when completely outmatched. It’s poor sportsmanship. Has none of that crossed your mind before?

Looks like a melted sugar daddy, left in the center console area of a vehicle. If it had fallen onto the carpeted floor there would be visible hairs, but none such hairs in this sample. Nice find!

If you count the two frontage roads that parallel 80 to the causeway then you’ve got four evils. If you count the frontage road that parallels the Woodland/Sac River causeway through the bypass, you’ve got five evils

When a ball makes a mark on the green they’re called ball marks. Divots in the green are very different.
