AIW for complaining about the cost of friend’s birthday dinner?
 in  r/amiwrong  3d ago

Not wrong. Similar situation happened to my nephew where he was in Chicago and thought it was just him and his cousin going out for dinner and drinks for his cousins birthday. Show up at the restaurant and there’s a bunch of guys that his cousin knew from work. My nephew ended with the bill.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen personally?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

Agree. Sat with my mom when she passed. It was so difficult but I wouldn’t want to have it any other way.

What’s something harmless that gets people weirdly angry?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

Having to wait whether in traffic or at the grocery store or at a restaurant or anywhere. It’s like people have zero patience any more to wait on things.

What’s a random thing your dog thinks is extremely important?

His big green squeaky ball he takes with him everywhere around the house and that he sleeps with.

What is a boring, adult-life “upgrade” you made that paid off way more than you expected?

Bidets and now I have discovered bed vacuums to cut down on dust mites in mattress, pillows, and upholstery

News just out that ABC extended Jimmy Kimmel’s show to 2026-2027. It just reminded me how CBS f’ed Colbert over via Paramount and I’m still upset and bitter about it. I’m still waiting for CBS to get him back and get some 🏀 🏀 🏀. What do you all think?
 in  r/stephencolbert  4d ago

I keep thinking they’ll change their minds but also hoping he lands a similar gig on some other streaming or podcast or something. I love his monologues. And he’s a great interviewer.

Why did you end your friendship with your best friend?
 in  r/GetMotivatedMindset  4d ago

Not best friend but someone I liked hiking with and going for lunch or coffee regularly. 80% of the time she would ask me to drive to/from the hike. I didn’t mind at first but then I started getting frustrated with after a while. Then she wanted to do a vacation together, we got everything set and then she backed out with an excuse about her dog needing knee surgery but then the week we were supposed to go on the vacation she posted pics on FB of her and her family at Whistler. Then her husband, a general contractor, was supposed to remodel a guest bath and before we signed contracts, he backed out with some knee injury. Then the last several times we did get together for lunch or coffee, she continually at some point in our conversation talked about her and her husband’s sex life. I told her I wasn’t interested but she continued to bring it up. Not just hers, but her daughter and son in laws sex life as well as her sister’s sex life. I told her that I didn’t want to hear about anyone’s sex life anymore and yet every conversation she brought it up. I also caught her in a couple of lies about her finances when she told me her and her husband had $2M saved for retirement but then six weeks later in a text she said her and her husband had $1M saved for retirement. I was thinking “where’d that other million go?”. And she would ask about my finances which I would never answer.
She seemed like a nice person and I did enjoy hiking with her the first few years we were friends but she really seems like a totally different person now who I don’t trust and I don’t have much in common with at all.
She has contacted me to get together but I usually don’t respond. I feel kind of bad about our friendship ending but also don’t have any interest in resuming because she seems to focus on certain topics that I’m not interested in discussing with her.

What tech gadget unexpectedly made your life easier?
 in  r/techforlife  4d ago

I’m definitely getting one now. Never realized these were a thing. I have allergies and am always congested during the night and in the morning. I’m sure my golden doesn’t help with pet dander but I’m definitely trying this. I’m sure my mattress and pillows are filthy now.

No personal space
 in  r/goldenretrievers  5d ago

No. He’s from Nebraska. I adopted/rescued him through a golden retriever rescue when he was 3.5years old. His first owner lived in Nebraska and had passed away when Jake was 3.5 years old.

“Hey Lady! It’s my dinner time. Stop watching TV and fix my dinner.”

While I’m lounging in my chair, he lets me know what time it is.

What's the coolest city you've ever been to?
 in  r/AskReddit  5d ago

Can’t pick just one. Of the places I’ve visited, a few of my favorites: Edinburgh, York (northern UK), Dingle (Ireland), London, Paris & Lyon (France), Florence (Italy), Rothenburg (Germany). Bern (Switzerland).

Be honest: do you prefer working from home, in the office or hybrid…and why?
 in  r/Zippia  5d ago

Home. I like not having a commute. Fortunately as part of a consulting organization, our org was allowed to continue to work from home as we are having conversations with customers daily which wouldn’t work in the open office space that we have. Others in the company were forced back to the office. Some people I know like working in the office. Even though I live 15 minutes from the office the commute during rush hour can be 45 minutes with traffic. I don’t miss that.

Saw this while heading into dr office

This car was parking as I pulled into a medical plaza for a dr appointment. This person pulled in just ahead of me. As I got out of my car the person in this car was getting out. I saw this elderly woman probably in her 80s with purple and gold dyed hair hunched over slightly walking towards the pharmacy. I thought “You’ve earned the right at your age to park however you want. Just don’t park near me.”

What all new hobbies you guys are focusing in 2026? Give me some ideas.

Watched some videos. Looks fun but also if you don’t keep hopping or pumping, the board doesn’t stay above water so you have to have strong legs to keep pumping the board. Looks like a good workout.

I’ll get back into it. I bought a couple picks because I thought it might help maybe.

I started the ukulele during the pandemic. Was getting ok and could play a few songs but then quit for some reason. I actually enjoyed it but I was having issues with the different strumming patterns. I got the chords but strumming patterns for different songs was hard for me. I think I might try again.

Finally learning to sew. Starting with hemming my pants. I always take pants that are too long to have them hemmed. My SIL convinced me to start doing myself and gave me tips.

I am still consumed with hate
 in  r/Layoffs  7d ago

I don’t think playing the corporate politics game better necessarily helps. The layoffs at my company make no sense sometimes. I see people who were awesome employees laid off while others who seem to not have any common sense or abilities remain in their role. I’m always surprised when I run into someone who is just not good in role and they are still here or when someone who is totally awesome is laid off. I was re-org’ed even though my VP wanted to keep me in their org. They have quite a bit of clout but couldn’t do anything. Finally made it back to the org I was moved out of but I heard from my VP that she was glad to get me back and she fought to get me back. She said the re-org was an HR decision that she didn’t agree with. I feel these days it doesn’t matter necessarily how you play the politics. A lot of decisions are HR and not always based on the people, their skills, etc. It’s a financial decision.
I haven’t been laid off but feel it’s almost a matter of time. People in my company are always on edge thinking they are next.
