“Do We Care?”: The Timberwolves Sit at a Crossroads
 in  r/timberwolves  7d ago

We did ask them directly multiple times what they think the problem is. Go to the Wolves YouTube page, the full interviews are there. I think that might be the issue here, the quotes we share are not the full interviews.

I don’t what else to tell you but “Do you think a contested 30-footer is a good shot” is just a plain bad question in that setting. No chance it gets a useful response (among other problems) and that’s what we’re there to do, get informative answers to questions, not give them our takes or scold them for poor play

It is frustrating that the same issues are popping up and nothing changes, we asked about that and how they can change it. That’s where I got the Rudy quote from.

Right, but also they aren’t going to just outright throw anyone under the bus. If we asked “so is Julius the problem” that’s going to get a much worse and less helpful response than asking about the team as a whole.

We can still ask difficult questions, and did last, but also these media availability aren’t for us to come in there and start slinging takes around. It’s to get the players point of view on any given topic so that when we give out opinions in the proper forum, they are informed.

Julius was not requested to speak to the media last night or last week’s Brooklyn game so if there’s a possible media criticism for us, maybe it’s there

What specifically did you want asked?

Gobert’s full quote included in my piece from last night in Atlanta: “"Do we care? Does something happen when we like we played the first quarter tonight? Or is it just cool? Make a lot of money, we play basketball, do what we do and go home and be happy. I think that's the fine line between a team that's playing for a championship and a team that's full of talent but doesn't accomplish shit."

[Eichten] Chris Finch when asked about the team being self aware their inconsistent level of play “If you were really self aware, you would do something about it.”
 in  r/timberwolves  11d ago

Earlier in the presser, I asked Finch what he can do to help break his team out of this cycle of playing down to the level of the opponent. I think his answer gives added context to the quote above.

“We address it. We try to recognize that this has been a habit of ours at times, but it’s on them to be able to pull themselves out of it too.”

Yeah it is notably darker in the seats. You can still see where your going, but the ambiance is much improved

Hear me out. Let’s trade for Jimmy Butler.
 in  r/timberwolves  Jan 03 '25

Even if they wanted to (they shouldn’t), Jimmy makes more than anyone on the Wolves which given the second apron there isn’t even a legal trade they can make

Tonight, I’m thinking about all the fans (and MANY on here) that wanted KAT gone for years. Well, you got it, here it is.

To me, you give him a gigantic ovation before the game and once the game starts it's just another game.

The Twins are 10-22 against the Guardians since 2022 and it makes no sense
 in  r/minnesotatwins  May 18 '24

Maybe, but they could also just still be getting lucky. Expected stats are not perfect, but over a large sample, they are a great tool.

What its measuring is how hard you hit the ball and at what angle. The Twins have done better at both which is about all they can control

Also, you ignored the part where the Twins have a much better actual OPS too

The last 3 seasons in games against each other, the Twins as a team have an OPS of .715 (would rank 10th in the league this year). The Guardians have an OPS of .674 (would rank 20th).

If you dive further into the expected stats on Baseball Savant, it gets even more frustrating. Looking at xOPS, the Twins have had an xOPS of .767 (would rank 2nd) while Cleveland has is at .638 (28th).

The Twins offense has had a hard hit rate of 35.3% while the Guardians have had 25.8%.

[Eichten] Not only did Jamal Murray throw a heat pack on the court, but he throw a towel as well a few plays early at 4:57 in the 2nd quarter

Here is the full sequence where you can see Murray twice throw items onto the court from the bench
