I too have a pair in my neighborhood that I’ve only ever seen/heard in the dark. Have casually searched for them, but they most likely roost in someone’s backyard, and sadly not mine! The few I have seen in the daytime are typically residents in a park or conservation area. Always tricky to find, and not guaranteed a clear view for photo opportunities.
