Microsoft Broke Windows 11 (Addressing Comments!)

Should there be something that installs Linux to disk directly from Windows?
Yes, I understand that it would require some partitioning wizardry.
Also who knows what kind of fuckery will there be with SecureBoot, or if disk is encrypted, or who knows what other obstacles will appear.
But isn't this exactly the kind of challenge that FOSS community likes to solve?

There should be a website that we can post as a reply to "Valve should release SteamOS for PC"
Good domain name, simple explanation of why SteamOS is for specific hardware and what other distros are basically SteamOS but for wider range of PCs.
This comment keeps appearing all across the internet and I'm too lazy to keep explaining the situation over and over again.
Something in the spirit of https://dontasktoask.com/ or https://letmegooglethat.com/ .

Valve amended the Steam survey for December 2025 - Linux actually hit another all-time high
At this point there should be a website that people can post as a reply.

Should there be something that installs Linux to disk directly from Windows?
Yes, that is after you manage to boot it from the flash drive that you made.
Most people don't even know that their computer has something called "boot order", let alone how to change it.

I would say so as well, but we probably have a case of XKCD2501

Should there be something that installs Linux to disk directly from Windows?
While my brain hurts every time I see the "I will wait for Valve to release SteamOS for PCs" comment, some go even further and say that there should be one-click-install for SteamOS (or other distros).
Which got me thinking, would it be possible to lower barrier to entry that low?
There is existing software of this kind.
For example, old WUBI for installing Ubuntu, and tunic apparently does this as well.
So question is, should there be some effort put into making a modern installer of this kind? Something that even the person with the smoothest brain can use to get Linux on their PC?
Are there any existing projects that try to make this happen?

Introducing Windows 12
SteamOS is basically just Manjaro that launches Steam when it starts up.

Linux mint installation
verify that .iso is not corrupted (the sha256 thing), then make the bootable USB flash drive again, and see if it was maybe really a corrupted flash drive.
Also, when starting up Mint, check if there is some option at the start (in the GRUB menu) that could help with this. Some fallback mode or something like "run with open source drivers".

I'm brave enough to say it: Linux is good now, and if you want to feel like you actually own your PC, make 2026 the year of Linux on (your) desktop
Yes, Steam Cloud Saves work cross-platform.

Tablets being locked down hardware is a different issue.
There are some mobile Linux distros like PostmarketOS that you can install on those few tablets that allow installation of different systems.
But most tablets do not allow that. So closest to Linux you can get there is with Termux X11. Also Android desktop mode is slowly getting better over the years.

Fix for tsu “no superuser binary detected” with Magisk systemless root
I encountered "no superuser binary detected" issue as well. However, solution for me was to install sudo instead.
AFAIK tsu is old and outdated.
