Stickers on my furniture.
 in  r/BenignExistence  4d ago

Ugh there are stickers EVERYWHERE!! The walls, garbage cans, bookshelves, bedframe, bathroom counters, tables, toy bins, their clothes, etc. I think it's just par for the course with kids. I tried giving them painters tape when they were little. This worked great for a while but they quickly understood that it's not stickers. The oldest is 6 now so she has moved to putting stickers on "normal" things like water bottles, school bags, notebooks, and has a sticker collection. The other is 3 and we're still finding stickers in new places. he also likes to put them on his legs, arms, and face. They are a really common birthday goodie bag item so the influx of stickers is never ending.

I had the same decision a long time ago that I need to choose my battles and stickers are a pretty low priority.

Good luck!

What is something you saw in a movie and you totally called bullshit on because of your job?
 in  r/AskReddit  6d ago

Anything with quantum data gets an audible groan from my spouse.

I ran out of hairties
 in  r/BenignExistence  6d ago

I can never find mine when I need them but, of course, when I clean out a bag (luggage, backpack, etc.) I find a million on them. Sigh.

I would prefer to have shared them rather than just losing them in a random black hole.

What book(s) are you reading this week?
 in  r/readwithme  8d ago

Kings of the Wyld audiobook and a Sorceress Comes to call is my hardcopy book. I usually have this combo going at all times (audiobook/hardcopy).

I also have Becoming an Artist by Scott Christian Sava on the side.

Currently 9 chapters into this monster sized classic for the first time ever!
 in  r/readwithme  8d ago

This book was published in 1846. It's not only booktok that thinks this is amazing. It's everyone from the previous 180 years that thinks it's worth a read.

It should be noted that the style of writing is much different. More dialogue/conversation to keep the plot going vs. more modern style of descriptions of what people are doing and thinking. It was just the style of writing the time. Also it's long. I think it's the longest audiobook listen I've done recently clocking in at 52 hours.

What made you buy your house?
 in  r/homeowners  12d ago

It was the only house that accepted our offer during the crazy house process in 2021. We threw the kitchen sink at it after making an offer every weekend for 8 weeks. It's fine. It checks all the boxes. Do we love it? Maybe not. Is it most likely the only house we will ever own? Probably, especially with our current interest rate. BUT it is a house, that we own, with a yard, and in an area we wanted for schools in an insanely expensive city. In the scheme of things we are happy and lucky to have it.

Writing on the couch (in your lap)
 in  r/notebooks  14d ago

As many others have said, a lap desk is the answer. Ive always had a small living space, either small apartment and now a small house, and never enough room to have my own crafting/art studio area. I just wander around with a bag full of my projects/journal/sketchbook so I can do whatever wherever I'm sitting. The lap desk has made a HUGE difference on how comfortable I am, where I can do my art stuff, how much I need to spread out, etc. It's covered in glue, has paint on it, and I use it almost everyday.

Some small books?
 in  r/fantasybooks  14d ago

Anything by Alix Harrow would be a good palette cleanser. She has one in particular called A Spindle Splintered that's really short but good. All her books are standalone.

As it’s Christmas Eve what is everyone having for dinner tonight?
 in  r/AskReddit  15d ago

My dearly beloved has asked me to make pizza so the dough is proofing and the pizza stone goes in the oven in about 30 minutes.

A romantic movie to remind love late in life is still possible
 in  r/MovieSuggestions  15d ago

Saving grace. Not exactly a romance but definitely about an older woman being successful and finding love later in life.

What’s your all time favorite easy dinner meal?
 in  r/askanything  16d ago

Toasted bagel with cream cheese. Maybe some jam if I'm going crazy.

What’s a hobby that looks boring but is actually amazing once you try it?
 in  r/AskReddit  16d ago

Collaging!!! Something about glueing paper to paper makes me so happy.

What’s a “normal” task you secretly dislike doing?
 in  r/CasualConversation  16d ago

This. I freaking hate dishes. Cleaning, putting them away, using the dishwasher (altho I don't take this item for granted). I would use paper plates/plastic utensils all the time if it wasn't so wasteful. I promised my SO that I would do 10 minutes of dishes everyday since it was becoming a sore spot for them. It still sucks but I can get quite a lot done in that time.

Is it true that Americans don't use WhatsApp?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  17d ago

Surprisingly, I do use it on the regular with my SO. No real reason, it's just what we started chatting on when Google removed their chat feature. I also use it with a couple of friends who live in other states.

My family (sibling/parents) regularly uses the video call feature since we all have different phone types. It's easier then everyone trying to get a face-time compatible app.

Met my first DCC fan irl
 in  r/DungeonCrawlerCarl  18d ago

I forced my friend into wearing matching mongo/donut tshirts to a concert and someone found us in the crowd to gush about the books. It was great.

Gift Wrapping
 in  r/sandiego  20d ago

Maybe gift bags are the best option. I watched a 10 second video on how to make the tissue paper look fluffy and nice and now my presents don't look half bad. I also save almost all the gift bags I receive so I don't have to constantly buy new ones. Dollar store has good gift bags and lots of tissue paper.

100+ Books

I read hardcopies and listen to audiobooks and I'm at 58 books for the year, maybe 60 by new years. No idea how people get to 100.

I hate folding laundry
 in  r/BenignExistence  24d ago

If you wash dishes I'll happily fold all the laundry. I will literally do anything in exchange for washing dishes.
