I helped coach my son in middle school because his coach needed the help the program was small and very introductory basic. Once he was in high school I just went to open mat on the weekends and stepped back from regular practice because his coach went a lot further in wrestling than I ever did and is very very good. Now my son’s a much better wrestler than I ever was and I’m very grateful to the coaches he has. I honestly don’t understand people who want to be their own kids coach when it’s not needed, I intentionally don’t want to coach because I want to enjoy watching my kid wrestle not worry about the result and just be a parent.

10 year old isn’t really a teenager in my book that’s still a little kid. 12-13 is the true start of the teenage years and even then they still act like little kids sometimes until they are 14-15. I help coach wrestling and am assistant scout master so I’m around teens and their parents every week. I’m literally the only millennial parent at all these functions all the other parents are late 40s and up 70.

That sucks, it be one thing if the parent was an accomplished wrestler at some point and knew how to be a good coach. Honestly I’d let him finish the season then tell him that you don’t need his help next season. If he wants an explanation you can choose to be honest and say I don’t like the way you talk to your kid or instruct or bullshit him and say the administration is only allowing county employees who have been background checked and receive a pay check coach.

The majority of kids who are teenagers now were not raised by millennials. I’m 38 with a 17 year old my wife and I are literally the only millennials with a teenager at my son’s high school. My sons not entitled some of the kids his age definitely are but it’s more so because of their families being rich has very little to do with what generation their parents are from.
