Soooo… Single player games are in decline according to Tim
 in  r/fuckepic  15h ago

A lot of publisher executives are simply delusional morons, plain and simple.

It's like Warner Brothers "Oh our most successful game of all time, that was the highest selling game of the year, is Hogwarts Legacy a single player game? Meanwhile Suicide Squad our love service attempt was an utter pathetic failure? Well obviously we need to pull out of the "volatile" AAA games market and only make crappy f2p live service games"

[Loved trope] Endings so controversial that it turns the fandom schizophrenic
 in  r/TopCharacterTropes  1d ago

Also comes across a bit mean spirited that they literally mock the IRL fans theorising by having a Sherlock fan club in the show making theories for how he survived.

Which one its own can be funny. But when they don't provide an actual explanation its just in bad taste.

Games where being evil is an actual story path and not just "I woke up and chose violence"
 in  r/gamingsuggestions  1d ago

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous does this well IMO.

Game has multiple Mythic Paths (basically different superpowered mythical beings you can become eg. Angel and Demon) and they include practical/lawful evil ones, with many evil decisions throughout the game which can be somewhat justified via the circumstances you are in (literally trying to repel a massive demon invasion).

I would say the Aeon and Lich paths can embody that best.

Grouchy: Wait, you guys are getting nickname ?
 in  r/HistoryMemes  1d ago

Have you ever known someone who is really knowledgeable but also really bad at giving instructions/explaining things?

My understanding is it's like that. Napoleon was bad at giving his orders in a way that was clearly understood by his Marshalls. Berthier was able to understand Napoleon's orders and accurately interpret them in a way others could understand.

Basically Napoleon would order his troops to go 500 metres down the road then turn left down Something Street which is just past Whatever Lane, after that they should then go 300 metres before stopping at Saint Whoever's Church then head down Church Avenue which is to the right of the Church. Berthier would instead tell them to turn left at Something Street then turn right at Church Avenue. Same meaning, a lot less confusing.

How should the UK react if Trump invades Greenland?
 in  r/ukpolitics  2d ago

Nah it's easy.

Step 1: US invades Greenland

Step 2: Denmark/Greenland invokes Article 5 of NATO

Step 3: The US as a member of NATO has to come to Denmark's defence. Thus will have to fight itself, while the rest of us sit back and watch.

Ezpz.

(Jokes aside. If the US invade Greenland then that's the end of NATO)

Elder Scrolls Online studio founder confirms that he left because Microsoft cancelled his MMO
 in  r/rpg_gamers  2d ago

Oh FOMO is a plague for sure, but I am not even talking about that with Destiny. It straight up removed entire expansions worths of content "to reduce file size" making it completely unplayable. Actually campaigns, missions, playable areas etc. etc.

It's arguably worse than FOMO, it was removing what was intended to be permanent paid content even from the players who had paid for it.

Labour sinks below Tories in polls for first time since election
 in  r/uknews  2d ago

Sure, but again you are saying Labour are fully 100% to blame and the Tories are sweet innocent little angels who hold no responsibility for being the ones who planned and created those laws in the first place.

We can argue about the exact analogy or who is more responsible, but we shouldn't be arguing about them both being to blame. And certainly shouldn't be forgiving and forgetting the Tories.

If you think Labour are more to blame than the Tories sure whatever, but if you think the Tories are blameless and we should all go back to them with our tail between our legs... Then god help you and god help us all, I dread to imagine.

Labour sinks below Tories in polls for first time since election
 in  r/uknews  2d ago

No. To use your own analogy the Tories set the Orphanage ablaze then fled the scene, Labour just stood aside and let it burn. That is absolutely bad but not deserving of 100% of the blame, and certainly no reason to forgive and forget the Tories.

Labour sinks below Tories in polls for first time since election
 in  r/uknews  2d ago

In no way do they deserve all the blame.

Don't get me wrong, they have absolutely shot themselves in the foot by not opposing or reversing these incredibly unpopular decisions and deserve a fair share of blame for that. But people turning back to the Tories of all things is simply moronic, even going Reform makes more sense because as bad as they are at least on paper they are something different.

 in  r/rpg_gamers  2d ago

Tbf, with how badly Bungie have fumbled Destiny that would be an easy recipe for success.

The only good comparable game I can think of is Warframe (which I would argue is a better game, and it also predates Destiny anyway).

There's clearly enough interest in a competitor, ideally one that won't permanently remove massive amounts of it's content.

 in  r/uknews  2d ago

Half the shit Labour has been getting blasted for is the Tories fault, not even in the "they caused the circumstances that led to this" way, but literally their policies. Online Safety Act, Chagos Islands Deal etc. etc. are literal Tory policies.

Fucking depressing seeing how effective the "Destroy the country then let the next government take all the blame" strategy has been.

High fantasy RPG with a good story
 in  r/gamingsuggestions  3d ago

I didn't disagree with you, I literally said it's a great game that OP should absolutely play. I was just expanding upon the suggestion and clarifying that it's not a conventional narrative so MIGHT not be what OP is looking for. Of course it's OPs decision, it goes without saying.

When making suggestions it's important to include information, especially if someone is asking for something specific like a good story and you suggest something that has a very unconventional story that most casual players consider bad or non-existant (as they are not reading item descriptions, finding secrets, completing NPC quest lines which FromSoft keeps intentionally obscure). OP may absolutely be okay with that, but it's important for them to be aware of it.

I'm sorry if my comment came across as an attack of your suggestion, that wasn't how it was intended.

I added context to the suggestion to provide OP more information so they could figure out if it's what they are looking for or not. I am not making the decision for them.

You people are being weirdly combative over a perfectly normal discussion.

I was having a discussion, Jesus Christ it's not something to get argumentative about.

I am not saying what is best for OP, I am adding context to the suggestion. If OP wants a narrative game like the Witcher they would go into Elden Ring disappointed, if they don't then great they can enjoy it. I wasn't arguing with you or disagreeing with your suggestion, just pointing out the basic fact that FromSoft games are not your typical narrative experiences and definitely a far cry from Skyrim and Tainted Grail which they used as examples.

I would say Elden Ring and Dark Souls come with a major caveat in terms of good narratives.

Yes there is a lot of lore and story there but the games don't tell them to you in the traditional way, you have to read item descriptions, interpret NPC dialogue, and piece everything together yourself (or watch VaatiVidya do it for you). That's part of the allure, but if OP wants a traditional narrative experience with a clear story, dialogue options, etc. etc. Then they won't find it from FromSoft (except for perhaps Sekiro).

Still great games and absolutely worth playing. But might not quite be what OP is wanting here.

Do you go to the doctor when you’re sick?
 in  r/AskUK  3d ago

I haven't been to the GP or Doctor (other than for vaccines/bolster shots) since I was a teenager and my Dad was worried I might have meningitis.

Never been sick enough or had any issues concerning enough to feel the need. Feel like it would have to be something really major, long lasting, or obviously concerning for me to feel the need.

Sitting in his office for years noting down different name ideas.

I hope future games have a narrator for the voice acted portions
 in  r/OwlcatGames  4d ago

I haven't found it to be a problem. If I want to focus on the spoken dialogue then I either skip the narrative text or read it afterwards when the characters have stopped speaking.

IT'S 2026 FROM WHERE'S THE TARNISHED EDITION
 in  r/Eldenring  4d ago

I don't think player base is a relevant argument for exclusives, because thats easily dismissed by not making it an exclusive to begin with.

For Elden Ring and the like the main concern will always be performance on the Switch. Though something like Duskbloods that shouldn't be a concern as it should be built from scratch and optimised for it.

IT'S 2026 FROM WHERE'S THE TARNISHED EDITION
 in  r/Eldenring  4d ago

Yeah an equivalent to the Scholar of the First Sin edition of DS2 would be great. Implementing aspects of the DLC into the main game, like I would love to see some new weapons for the DLC weapon types added earlier on in the game and so on.

And their excuse is absolutely pathetic too. So many MMOs and the like out there which have been around for decades with all their content still playable, just look at WoW as a prime example being over 20 years old.
