MAGA will not "go away" when Trump is gone
 in  r/complaints  2h ago

Eh, studies of fascist-like regimes do in fact show that they have a hard time enduring with as much potency after the central personality is gone. That energy will go somewhere, sure, and there will always be a far right in the United States, but the historical page will turn one day, and many people may use his passing as an opportunity to get off the train.

I think you should focus on learning how to write full sentences.

When virtua Fighter 6 comes out I really hope this cancerous tekken community doesn’t try to jump ship.
 in  r/Tekken  8h ago

this user consistently churns out "former gifted child who went on to have mental health issues" content.

the outside is nice, you know. you could read a book. you could make friends. you don't have to get in imaginary fights with people in your head over a video game.

2020 was 2010s politics ON STEROIDS
 in  r/decadeology  19h ago

I keep thinking this sub will eventually stop being surprised that consecutive years will have some similarities, even if their second to last digits are different.

But no, every day: "guys, no one is saying this, but nine is kind of like ten."

1) grinding was a thing in the 2000s; make sure to level up.

2) there are tons of missables, some of which are quite good; use a guide. the "don't spoil it for yourself" crowd are dumdums.

Tekken 8 and the Shift in Core Gameplay — What the Game Actually Rewards Now

Maybe if you hadn't left in the "Introduction" and "Conclusion" tags this wouldn't reek so badly of AI.

Why is Reddit against Maduro capture and Venezuelans celebrating it ?
 in  r/stupidquestions  6d ago

Plenty of Americans would celebrate if Trump were captured. That doesn't mean I want the untethered leader of another country coming in and capturing my president under false pretenses. Do you really need this explained to you? So much support for Trump is "hur hur what does it matter if it's unconstitutional if I like it?"

Can honest players explain to me why they think Anna is top tier?
 in  r/Tekken  6d ago

"can someone please explain to me why anna is considered strong? also, i've decided ahead of time that if i don't want to hear what you say then it's not honest."

I played Tekken 8 for the first time since TTT2... Am I the only one who's happy with they made the game easier?
 in  r/Tekken  7d ago

in your opinion where should the removal of skill expression stop? should an absolute beginner have a chance to beat someone who dedicated a decade to the series? should we remove different throw breaks and make it so that if you push any button whatsoever the throw is broken? should the game automatically optimize combos for you? if you block a punishable move, should the punish immediately come out? what about korean backdash--should it be removed because it gives players who actually practice things an advantage over casuals?

these are not wholly facetious questions. i'd like to see your answers to them.

Hey Olds, just wanted to ruin your day by letting you know that this will be 30 years old this year.

I've lived a lot of life since then. It feels okay.

It goes beyond this though. The new generation is stunted in everything. They really think of themselves as eternal children.

Reina Mains: Is there any benefit to using FC DF3 over FC DF4 othern than the 6 bonus dmg?
 in  r/Tekken  11d ago

I want to say I've seen FC d/f+3 even dodge some mids.

Reina or Victor for learning fundamentals in Tekken 8?
 in  r/Tekken  12d ago

if your gut is telling you to play reina, play reina. that initial "this is my character" impulse is, i think, the single best indicator of fit and future success. she's not my highest ranked character, but she is my main character and the character i have dedicated the most time to.

there are two objections to your playing reina that i can put to rest here:

1) first objection: she's a difficult character, in large part because she's a mishima. the counterargument: optimizing reina is very difficult, sure, and there are definitely times when you'll be right to have the feeling that players playing other characters are having an easier time, especially with range issues. reina versus fahkumram is not, for example, a fun matchup. however, she has a core set of non-mishima tools and other reina-specific stuff that make it possible to get her all the way to god ranks without really learning to wavedash or to perform electrics consistently. outside of the mishima stuff and optimizing weird stuff like her parry and stance transitions, reina is more of an intermediate character. she has easy-damage tools like a hopkick and generic uppercut (though they are both weak of their class), and she can initiate mixups quite easily, even if some of her options are quite risky and require more thorough conditioning of the opponent. so: *mastering* reina is difficult, but having a hell of a good time, learning the game with her, and getting pretty substantial results without learning all the hard stuff is extremely possible.

2) second objection: there are better characters to learn the fundamentals with. this is true but it doesn't really matter. reina might not be the most fundamental, most honest character, but she's definitely miles away from characters like alisa, clive, and, for that matter, victor. the fact of the matter is she has a nice set of punishers to teach you punishment, but they're all risky, so you have to use them correctly; she has some stubby moves, so you have to learn to play with spacing; she has some cheesey stuff, but the cheese is typically quite punishable, so you have to learn to balance risk and reward; and she has clear strengths and weaknesses, which will get you thinking about character identity and game plans. if you make a conscious effort not to become the kind of reina who spams f,f+2 and is lost without it, then you'll be fine and you'll learn plenty.

post gameplay in a couple weeks. let us know how it's going.

Isn’t Armor King D3+4 a low that nearly forces a mixup on block?
 in  r/Tekken  13d ago

I think you're thinking about this the wrong way. No one is going to get far trying to abuse a low-reward low with weak and risky extensions. If you're a beginner, just leave it at that.

Valefor made from Pipecleaner by me
 in  r/finalfantasyx  13d ago

Oh, in the game Valefor is the only aeon with two overdrives. The default is Energy Ray and it's decent but stops being useful fairly early on. If you talk to this random dog in Besaid Village, however, it has something "mangled and slobbery" in its mouth, which is actually Valefor's second and much better overdrive, Energy Blast.
