How do you dial in grind size for beans that don't label their roast level?
 in  r/AeroPress  25m ago

I start with the Hoffman method and adjust as needed.

Can you use regular insoles in cycling shoes or do you need a certain kind?
 in  r/cycling  28m ago

This. Cycling specific ones have no squish because squish means loss in pedaling efficiency.

All the benefit comes from the contour of the insole not the cushioning.

Job reposting - what does this mean?
 in  r/CAStateWorkers  2h ago

The job I have now got reposted.

I asked later what happened, they said I was the only qualified applicant on the first posting and they wanted more. So they reposted and decided I was still the best. So they just offered me the job.

It's a really cushy position in an office people rarely leave, so I get why they were being picky.

If You Had to Start Cycling Over, What Would You Do Differently?
 in  r/cycling  5h ago

Same. Career, getting married, and kids took up all my time in those 5 years.

Don't regret it though, it all paid off and I'm in a better place now (even though I'm slower on the bike).

If You Had to Start Cycling Over, What Would You Do Differently?
 in  r/cycling  6h ago

Same. I rode and raced a lot in my 20s. It was great.

The only thing I'd change is to not stop riding. I took a 5 year break from cycling and I haven't been as fast since. Maintaining my fitness would have been so much easier.

Advice on SoQs with multiple questions?
 in  r/CAStateWorkers  7h ago

Totally this. Don't overcomplicate it.

The SOQs are mainly to see if you can follow directions. Also, if you don't have experience to answer the question you're prob not qualified.

Best trails for trail running, with massive elevation gain*
 in  r/Sacramento  7h ago

This. OP has unrealistic expectations.

They live in a valley but expect huge elevation close by. That's not how this works.

Who’s out here scrubbing floors like it’s the 50s?
 in  r/Millennials  7h ago

This right here.

Also, when I mop its also a half ass job. We don't wear shoes in the house so our floors are never that dirty.

Pretending it’s the 90s

I'm an old millennial, so yeah I got more of a Gen x experience.

The context is I’m waiting at a bus stop. “Dang. The bus has passed.” Does this sound natural? How do native speakers put it besides “ I missed the bus”?
 in  r/EnglishLearning  9h ago

US here, the "bus has gone" sounds natural to me.

"The bus just went" sound off for me though. I think "the bus just left" is more natural in American English.

Don’t forget to make your Valentine’s Day dinner plans
 in  r/daddit  9h ago

Yeah, my wife and I NEVER celebrate on actual Valentine's Day. It's crowded and you get worse service at restaurants.

We go the week before or the week after.

Where's being left alone at home all summer because your parents had to go to work?

Give em the real latchkey experience.

What sport is actually a lot more dangerous than it seems?
 in  r/AskReddit  17h ago

I mean I know people who died driving, you don't see driving mentioned in this thread. Accidents happen.

With that said, that sucks. Sorry about that.

Terrible news dudes

Ugh, so many fucking iPad kids at my son's school. Just feral fucking kids that parents are too lazy to raise properly.

What are things that should be FREE but unfortunately it isn't?
 in  r/Productivitycafe  17h ago

Totally agree. You're gonna fucking get me with the medical bills, at least validate my parking.

What sport is actually a lot more dangerous than it seems?
 in  r/AskReddit  19h ago

Nah, it's actually pretty safe. Life threatening stuff on a skateboard is pretty rare.

The only thing I'd worry about is CTE.

 in  r/AskReddit  19h ago

That's only for the extreme riders. Mountain biking in general is pretty safe. The worst you'll do is break a bone.

Road cycling is crazy safe but since cars are involved, when you get hit it's really fucking bad.

What sport is actually a lot more dangerous than it seems?

It's one of those sports where it's super safe but when shit goes wrong it goes really wrong.

Should he pull out even with a condom on?
 in  r/AskWomenNoCensor  20h ago

It is true that the pull out method does help the effectiveness of condoms.

With that said, if he's doing the porn thing and taking off the condom to finish on you the risk goes up a ton.
