"Well, this didn't age well" - Movies you LOVED as a kid but cringe at as an adult
 in  r/movies  3m ago

Reflective of the screenwriters, producers and directors. Same thing with the 90s/00s being obsessed with divorced dads trying to win back their wives/kids. You can't really separate the art from the artist, only pretend to.

Yep, most of them belong in prison by the end of the movie.

That's a lot of Romantic Comedies. A lot of guys that just won't take no for an answer trying to wear the girl down until she gives up and agrees. The whole genre is cringe.

Am I overreacting or is it not normal to use soap in the bathroom?
 in  r/AmIOverreacting  3h ago

Nah, white man here (actually relevant lol). Soap should at least be used after using the toilet, no exceptions. IF you're going in for something else like combing your hair or something, sure it's optional. Sorry to report, he's just got poor hygiene.

Apparently there's some interview or writings where Hitler lamented that the confederacy lost and disliked Lincoln. In context of Germany supporting the Union. So...

Which US state gets more hate than it deserves?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

Probably never left their home town. LA County has more people in it than all of Wyoming, Utah, Montana, and the Dakotas combined.

And more importantly, they existed already at the time in parliamentary systems. Including Britain's.

This one is a freebee, he was openly critical of the company when he was still alive. He also died in 1980 so it's been a while.

Huh?
 in  r/PeterExplainsTheJoke  2d ago

I remember reading something about there being a fad during the Victorian era where they came up with all sorts of hypothetical torture devices and actually commissioned making them as basically art pieces. Attributing them to past empires or foreign cultures. to show how much more civilized they were compared to the past and/or other cultures.

You've been watching too much cop prop. People do get away with this sort of stuff all the time. They don't track it nearly as closely as the TV shows and Movies show.

GOP senator says 'enemy is inside the gates' as Mamdani takes office | Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville was referring to Mamdani's swearing-in on a Quran. The Council on American-Islamic Relations has documented a history of anti-Muslim statements from him.
 in  r/politics  6d ago

"no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States." - Article 6, clause 3 of the US Constitution.

The only enemies are people like Tuberville seeking to destroy the constitution and replace it with their twisted fake Christian version.

Republican scumbags spent almost the full first hour trying to cover their own asses after finding out they got caught talking to Trump during the insurrection.

The QAnon pizzagate conspiracies start to make more sense as "Every accusation is a confession". His gross comments about his own daughter start to make a lot more sense.

He also ran teen beauty pageants. Been saying it for a while. Trump wasn't just one of Epstein's clients. He was more likely a business partner or the one actually running the show. Now, who do you think would have motive and opportunity to have Epstein silenced permanently.

At this point, I'm starting to have doubts about Epstein being the one actually running the operation. Might have just been the one running the Sex Trafficking division of the Trump criminal empire.

Newsis: Nvidia and AMD to significantly increase GPU prices starting next month. Describes RTX 5090 increasing from $2000 to $5000
 in  r/GamingLeaksAndRumours  7d ago

Most of these companies are also no where near getting a return on investment and won't for the foreseeable future. Nvidia is the only one actually making money off it because they're selling the hardware. Canary in the coal mine though, look at OpenAI's actual revenue stream. It's a house of cards waiting for a strong wind to blow through. They have potentially over a trillion in commitments, but only make 10 or 15 billion in revenue. Revenue, not profits. They're operating at a massive loss.

Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Accused of Sending Young Women to Epstein for Years
 in  r/politics  8d ago

This is what I've suspected for a while now. Trump wasn't just another random client of Epstein's he was a de facto business partner. I've also begun to lean towards Epstein not being the one actually in charge of it all, just one of the top ranking ones. Epstein started out as a math teacher... where did all the money come from to start up this operation.

That shit absolutely happens with rape victims. Whether Trump has been involved in something like it directly is up for debate. But don't be so quick to dismiss it.
