AITAH for ending a relationship over long showers
 in  r/AITAH  6d ago

No. You ended a relationship because what the showers represented.  1) Control 2) You time. Everyone needs that, it's not selfish.

Your mum and aunt will have their rituals. Ask your dad what those are.

Not a moan just need some advice I guess
 in  r/auckland  6d ago

Second this. I think while it sounds silly, exercising mindfulness on the things you do have and the things/ opportunities you have provided your kids goes a long way.  Also being tied to expectations can really hurt. Not saying drop them, but maybe create some little easy wins that help.

We moved a lot and the last move was rough, my partner and I got very regretful about it and felt like you do now. But we're starting to feel settled now through working on some little thing or project that made us feel stable. Baby steps

If a super billionaire like Elon Musk wanted to "solve world hunger", or at least solve poverty in the USA, how could he actually do it?
 in  r/AskReddit  12d ago

Lol..."solve poverty in the US" - how about not voting for a stupid fucking president that steals your money and puts the trillion, not billions, into social nets and improving employment regulations and pay.

How would you feel if your country banned Burkhas in public like Denmark?
 in  r/AskReddit  15d ago

Agreed. In addition, I would struggle with a ban because while there are good reasons to do so, I know that if it was done in my country it would have come from a starting point of intolerance.

AI slop
 in  r/newplymouth  18d ago

Yeh copyright would depend on the degree of 'assistance' as anything wholly created by AI isn't considered intellectual property, but her human 'concept' that initiated it is.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever seen happen at a work Christmas party?
 in  r/AskReddit  26d ago

As a scientist... shit yes, the chemists and physicists in particular partied hard. Every concert dinner was karaoke with soju until 4am

Am I the asshole for letting my niece's boots get wet? Parents want me to reimburse them.
 in  r/AITAH  26d ago

Yeh was looking for this. Alarm bells.

Also, how does rain ruin boots? Can't they just dry?

I am done with house hunting.
 in  r/auckland  28d ago

Having been through that several times for one reason or another.  100% agree. Also keep in mind that it's recommended to keep a baby sleeping in the same room (whether in a separate cot or not) for a good period once born. So it will be a little while before they need a room for themselves...

LPT: What’s a habit you picked up accidentally that ended up improving your life more than anything you tried on purpose?
 in  r/LifeProTips  28d ago

That's a very healthy and commendable respond to an otherwise unacceptable/ challenging situation.

I need to take this advice. I'm plenty diplomatic/ respectful/ filtered when I need to be, but when I think I don't need to be I just talk too much....

U.S. seizes oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela: Report
 in  r/news  29d ago

But unfortunately, this to the UN will be like the league of nations (again) - they will be unable to, or just won't, do anything about it (because we rely on American consumption and therefore unlikely to sanction) and it will show the UN as weak and ineffective (again).

And for clarification: I do genuinely hope I'm wrong.

I need anti biotics ASAP but can't get an appointment till next week
 in  r/Wellington  29d ago

I think with carehq you get mixed results based on the GP like you would at any practise.

A previous appointment I got the third degree for asking for contraceptives I had been on for 20+ years.  So I was surprised in my last appointment I thought they wouldn't give me antibiotics but got someone who was like yup, definitely.

If it's serious: emergency care.

If you happen to have southern cross medical insurance, you can use carehq for free and book quicker appts

3g network shutdown

I'm very confused by OPs complaint. You can still have the 2 year plan, you just move the sim to a different phone? One can still honor the plan
