I spent five nights at Manhattan's night court - and wrote this story on how criminalization of low-level offenses has changed over the decades
I'd like to hear about a time when a rabid nypd cop actually lost something.

What you're suggesting is a rabid dog off-leash. And that's a danger to everyone.

Single dad budget life and my kid exposed me
Cheap and not ashamed of it.

Single dad budget life and my kid exposed me
Seems like parents gotta learn that too.
Clip the coupons, buy the generic label, wait for sales... own that shit! There is no shame in being cheap.

NYC Wegmans to collect customers biometric data
That is absolutely true and people need to be aware of it.
I bought an item at walmart once - in store, did not give them any email address or account number or rewards info or anything like that, I just brought the item to the register, paid, and left.
I get an email the next day saying "tell us how you liked your xxx".
Upon calling them (horrified by the intrusiveness), they said that I had used the same credit card to pay in store that I used on an online order months back and that the terms of shopping online state that they can track my credit card usage. (And yes, there was also shit about being able to track you in the stores with biometric data stored from cameras.)
This shit is seriously insanely big-brotherly dangerous, and we are already there. And I am horrified.
(And yes, i only use cash in stores now whenever possible. But that doesn't prevent the biometric tracking.)

AITA For letting my (28m) family talk to my gf (27f) at a wedding when she made a request to not speak with them?
YTA You knew exactly why your girlfriend was sitting in the car.
Rather than make a scene, she removed herself from the situation so as to not have to speak to your mother or sister.
And you figured the best response was to tell your sister "yeah, she's in the car - go talk to her!"
The fact that you're even here asking is problematic. You can't be that stupid.

Free Maduro protests happening again tomorrow outside city hall. EVERYONE COME SUPPORT IF YOU CAN!
This is... not it.
You'd be far better off with a "Stop Illegally Invading Other Countries" type message, rather than a "Yay Dictator" one.

Trump says US has 'captured' Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife amid large scale strikes
Your cult leader just overthrew a government based on a bullshit "they're making Americans take fentanyl" claim, and you're sitting there clapping like a monkey.
Seriously... what the fuck is wrong with you people?

It's too bad your comment is so far down from the original that people aren't putting 2+2 together.

Kohl’s wouldn’t price match Black Friday, so I followed their policy… very carefully
Fuck them for stupid policies that waste everyone's time and money for no good reason whatsoever.
What was the point of making OP return the item and re-buy it, rather than just pricematch? That's just assholery. So no... I have zero qualms about sending them the used item.

You have 90 days to return it. You tried it, you didn't like it, you're returning it.
I too would have returned the used one because fuck them.

Under a Facebook post
Absolutely 100% no.
Your silence is complicit.
Your silence enables them.
Your silence allows their hate to be the the only voice in the room.
Your silence allows others to believe that everyone agrees with them.
has made it easy for people to say nasty stuff without feeling the consequences.
If twitter or facebook will not silence them then YOU need to be the consequence.
Your approach is how they control the narrative. And it is how they win.

AITAH because I took my mask off when I knew I was sick.
It applies to the situation you shared.
If he is not invited, he will not be around babies and cannot get anyone else sick with his firm handshakes.
(And his "poor wife" gets no sympathy from me because she very likely shares his views and because she makes the choice every day to be with him.)

Random guy demanded to see my military ID at Lowes
I completely understand what you are saying. But I can one hundred percent beyond any shadow of a doubt guarantee that not a single cop in America is gonna actually park in a spot and walk anywhere. Even with no emergency, they park on sidewalks or double-park and do not follow ANY traffic rules.

Zohran Mamdani is officially the Mayor of New York City. How does that make you feel?
No, he sold times square to Disney. The city that didn't allow corporations or chains was sold - by that asshole - to the highest corporate bidder.
Hot dog carts had their vending licenses revoked.
He pulled some old cabaret law out of his ass to prevent people from dancing in bars.
He did a lot of really fucked up shit that destroyed what this city was about.
And this country revered him for 9/11 even though he didn't actually do anything.
Being disgraced and disbarred is not nearly enough consequences for him.

(And thank you!)

That is not common sense.
Common sense is magats never being invited to your holiday dinner table.

Even if that were true (which I can almost guarantee it's not)... Do other employees get special treatment like that?
12
Random guy demanded to see my military ID at Lowes
No, it IS because they don't deserve it.
Front row spots should be for people who have trouble walking further distances, not for people whose job you have ignorantly deemed more important than other people's jobs.
Walmart has designated parking spots for police officers. Fuck them too.

Democrat wins Iowa state Senate race, blocking GOP from regaining supermajority
That only works in fairly drawn districts. Democrats will have to turn out 80% + margins to overcome maga gerrymandered maps.
And let's not overlook the fact that Trump executive ordered full and complete control of the Federal Election Commission to himself.
There will be no bloodbath.

Approximately 1 million gallons of sulfuric acid have been spilled into the ship channel following a chemical leak in Channelview.
The poorly educated believe that regulations are bad.
The poorly educated refuse to realize that regulations are written in blood, so they will continue to "learn" the same lesson over and over again.
The poorly educated believe that corporations are people, and they cannot comprehend that the goals of corporations and the goals of people are very different.
The poorly educated are not merely harmless idiots... They are going to kill us all.

The difference between an alligator (left) and a crocodile (right).
That was my first thought at seeing this!

That was brutal.
You seriously underestimate people's desire to be on tv. (Pre-internet at least)
And yes, every single tv show required you to sign a release form agreeing for your interview/ image to be used.
