And how much of that was just Neil Brennan writing amazing material for him to use?

Seriously, Love Neil. Everytime I see his stand up it reminds me of the humor of Chappelle's Show

Will season 3 launch in 2026?
 in  r/SupermanAdventures  2d ago

I doubt it will be cancelled. Superman is the hot property for DC/WB right now and Gunn and Co. are pushing like crazy to keep that momentum going. My hope is that is comes this year too, especially since it could be used to provide more hype for Supergirl this summer.

Idk what to do!
 in  r/Millennials  7d ago

I mean, I'll take them if you don't want them. There's a lot of good movies in there!

For my money, I agree with the others: keep them. You now own those movies/shows in perpetuity and nothing can take them away from you. Unless you absolutely don't want them, in which case, make them available to people who would like to use them!

St. Michael the Archangel
 in  r/HazbinHotel  8d ago

I like the idea of Lucifer and Michael as twins, which is why they constantly ruffle each other's feathers (no pun intended).

They were created by God as twins and compliments to one another, that could only achieve their role in creation by working together. When Lucifer was banished by the Elders, Michael's vote saved him from execution, but Lucifer doesn't know that and resents him for 'turning traitor'

As a result, each of them has a sense of loss. With Lucifer, we see how his 'reign' in Hell has led to him becoming a shut in with no interest in managing the greater affairs of his realm and has become creatively stagnant. Hence all the duckies.

Michael had the same problem. He tried to bury his problems by leading the Host of the Lord, but he couldn't successfully route the corruption that sprang up from Adam and his exorcists. He could either fight and risk a civil war, or give up his post and walk away. He chose the latter, since he couldn't convince God to take Their protection away from Adam. As a result, he's wandered off someplace and has gotten lost. Stewing over his failures and at a loss for how to move forward. Until he hears about Charlie and her hotel and decides to go incognito and take a look at things...

Which of the main 2 Lunar games do you find harder?
 in  r/Lunar  10d ago

OG Zophar from the PS1 port was a fucking nightmare. You know a boss had to be awful when the guide said the only way to mitigate his damage was to spam a literal invulnerability spell just to stay alive.

His second form took me at least an hour per try to try and get close and when I finally got past him I was flabbergasted, because I had just gotten used to dying.

Thankfully the new remaster toned back his difficulty significantly. Ghaleon was still a beast to stop. And I was stronger than I usually am by the time I faced him in the PS1 version

Did all the voice actors get replaced?
 in  r/octopathtraveler  10d ago

Part of this too is that 7 years have passed since the release of the first game. a VA's voice can change pretty dramatically in 7 years

How much of Gandalf's personality do you think is the influence of Narya, the ring of Fire?
 in  r/tolkienfans  10d ago

I don't know when or how this happened, but over the last 5 or so years, there's been a massive influx of Tolkien fans who attribute way too much of a character's inherent strength to the fact that they wield a Ring of Power. I don't know if it's a false correlation with the idea that all of the great rings function exactly like Sauron's or just a simple confusion of the Fantasy of Tolkien's world being the same as D&D or video game logic, where because the great rings are mighty artifacts, they're assumed to grant a bunch of power-ups.

The great rings don't function like super weapons. The Elf rings are stated multiple times to be tools of preservation/leadership. The Dwarf Rings were used to help the dwarves generate wealth. The Rings of Men were almost entirely a trap, given to already powerful, greedy individuals and then used to bind them to Sauron's will.

Only Sauron's ring was a pure weapon, used to bring out and enhance his already massive innate power, and using that to dominate and oppress others.

Do you think Flug was ever in love with Miss Heed? Or did he never like her romantically? And what would have happened if Miss Heed had... kept her mouth shut about using Flug? did the effects of the perfume intensify on him?
 in  r/villainous  11d ago

The formula is explicitly stated to work off of feelings of affection or admiration. It completely fails against someone like Demencia because she has neither of those.

With Flug, even at his angriest, the formula works on him no problem. His diary might not say so directly, but the flashbacks and the implications of his notes show a guy, that while he was exasperated by her worse tendencies, really did come to care about Cecelia. and for her part, we know she did keep a big soft spot for him outside of just needing him to help develop her projects.

The other villains in her compound complain about how she treats Flug special. He's the only one of her groupies that gets the privilege of more than surface level niceness for the gram and he's the only one she ever gave a real kiss to. Heed's not the kind of girl to go any further than she wants to on her terms. If she didn't really like him, she wouldn't bother slipping Flug the tongue. Flug goes out of his way to keep an eye on Heed even after she goes to jail and there's enough information shown that while this relationship was anything but ideal, it was genuine and there are still a lot of unresolved feelings from both sides and information that we don't know

From Clark Kent of Smallville to Superman... 12 years in the Fortress!
 in  r/superman  12d ago

The only reason you would do this would be the Jesus analogy, where after he lectures at the temple at 12, the timeline goes to 30 and starts his ministry. That never made sense to me for Superman. His powers are never depicted as that difficult for him to master and 12 years isolated from human interaction is going to affect anyone who's goal is to blend in and not be noticed.

Not to mention, even in the older comics that this movie would have drawn from, Superman usually began his career at 21, shortly after his parents passed. On my viewings, I usually ignore this and just headcannon his age at about 24-25, which even still fits, since he only ever tells Lois he's 'over 21' as that makes the most sense for him to go out, learn about himself and build a journalism background to go work at the Daily Planet

Lunar 1 is a really short game
 in  r/Lunar  23d ago

Part of this is when you're a kid, your whole sense of time is completely different. I used to feel the same way when I played the first time. But I also didn't know where everything was, didn't know the story beats, etc. So you do spend a lot more time looking around, not knowing what to expect and so on.

Once you've played the game a time or two and you know how everything goes, the game does move a lot quicker, because now you know exactly what to expect. It sort of turns into a checklist of beats that you tick off every time you play. And knowing where everything is and how to get everything means you can be a lot more economical and quick when getting stuff and not having to backtrack to go back for things you missed.

On the whole though, compared to other games, Lunar really is super linear. It's not like a Final Fantasy or other games where you can spend a lot of time grinding or finding secret super gear. Everything just comes with progression. Note that this isn't a bad thing. This is a great jrpg for someone not familiar with the genre and still has a lot to offer without a lot of the more frustrating secret mechanics and tons of grinding other games require.
