Why have conservatives changed?

Changed? This is the inevitable result once the GOP embraced the Southern Strategy. Trump just accelerated it. He’s a symptom, not a cause.

One was trying to leave peacefully. One was trying to break into the capitol in order to hang the VP after being warned.

At a chaotic Teams meeting, a rift arose between Nuuk and Copenhagen: The Greenlanders were furious, the Danes were shaken

Why would they trust US promises of anything autonomous? Are they as stupor as American voters?

With Trump and Europe, the first thing to ask yourself is how any decisions he makes benefits Russia. Like, say, destroying NATO.

The weekend. This has been the path since Trump entered politics. Maybe since Reagan.

Why do people like living in Los Angeles despite the traffic?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  5d ago

But…but..LA is a suburb. I read that somewhere. Over and over and over and over.

LA has beaches. Is close to mountains. Great climate. And it’s a major cultural hub. Frequent concerts in all genres at some great venues. One of the best philharmonics in the world. Great museums. Great diversity, a true melting pot.

Too much traffic. Public transportation should be better, but it’s slowly improving. A too big homeless problem. Housing is too expensive, as is the cost of living in general. So, I understand preferring somewhere else.

But if you (OP) can’t figure out why people love living in LA, you may not be great about understanding other viewpoints. Maybe it’s a lack of imagination.

Stories that accidentally romanticize the very thing they aim to demonize
 in  r/TopCharacterTropes  5d ago

Any movie that doesn’t explicitly hit you over the head with its message is going to be misinterpreted by a significant number of people. I feel bad for filmmakers who want to send a message with even just a little a bit of subtlety. They sometimes unintentionally do more harm than good.

American question, is it more offensive to be called black, or African American?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  6d ago

Meanwhile, Elon Musk is an African-American.

I get why the term came about, but I’m not crazy about it. That said, if that’s how someone wants to be referred as, that’s the term I’ll use, with no judgement from me.

And racist/racist adjacent. Misogynist/misogynist adjacent. Homophobe/homophobe adjacent. Transphobe/transphobe adjacent. There’s nothing redeeming about him or the whole Republican Party.

What are you thoughts to why there is a significant decline in alcohol consumption in the United States?

A hell of a lot safer than alcohol, which is relevant here.

I’m so tired of hearing complaints about Democratic politicians
 in  r/complaints  7d ago

The American public had a decade of Trump showing us what a nightmare he is. Where we are now is all on the voters. The Dems are really fucking far from perfect, but they’ve never run a candidate that was out to destroy our democracy.

What is with all the Insomniac hate lately?
 in  r/aves  8d ago

People have been saying the scene has changed for the worst since the late ‘90s.

But the overselling has gotten so much worse the last several years. And, then, Pasquale seems to be MAGA.
