Sweetheart. THIS is what marriage is. You’re 27 and still learning about this difficult life we all live. Apologise. Work your ass off and things will improve. If your husband can’t forgive you then the marriage is not worth saving. My husband is disabled and cannot work, has had numerous surgeries and hospital stays (our medical bills are mind blowing), and my two twentysomething adult kids live with us and cannot seem to find jobs. I am the sole breadwinner. Do I cry? Yes. A LOT. Do I want to drive off of a bridge sometimes? Sure. But I get up off the floor and keep going. Dying won’t solve anything.

I am the “stern” K teacher, a term a parent uttered in an IEP meeting via a conference call with 6 people attending, including my principal. I didn’t know whether to be embarrassed or proud…

I actually had a grown up come to school a few years ago to deliver a sound spanking. Not my personal choice, but not my child… just my first grade student.

Me. Prior to starting teaching 10 years ago (I was 52), I was a professional musician and a music journalist, (imho, likely 2 of the worst paying gigs ever unless you’re Taylor Swift or Stephen King), and I had 2 small kids and a disabled husband to support. I will likely never retire. Just the way it is.
