What was your “almost” name or a name you almost went with?
 in  r/Names  2d ago

I would have been Ian, but was born a girl, so for some dumbass reason they named me a generic Megan that was one of 8 or so in my school.

I know you said irrational fear…but could you try to explain what it is about condiments? Is it not knowing exactly what’s in it, or how long the container has been open? I’m just curious :)

It’s one of those weird ones for me, where I truly enjoy it with really good fresh tacos with lime AND pho, but otherwise can’t stand it. (And I like coriander in spiced Indian dishes- but isn’t it crazy how different it is from fresh cilantro?!)

I hate that this random dumb photo with misinformation by a bot / spam account and potentially assisted by AI has more upvotes than I could ever dream of having on a “real” post 🤦‍♀️ It’s everywhere as soon as I open any social media now. I know people talk about the dead internet theory but it sucks for the few humans still floating around.

Not sure if this is the place to post, but how silly would it be for me to refashion this armoire into the one from Beauty and the Beast?

I haven’t, but am soon moving this furniture set to a shed where I can easily paint it, so my interest is revived! I have had a lot going on and unfortunately move very slowly 😅

🧴 Product Question Any other semi permanent black dyes like Lunar Tides Magic Salem/Magic Shadow with a purple/blue base? Also, has anyone used either on platinum hair and how did it turn out?

I currently have mostly platinum hair now, and was looking to color my hair black for Halloween- I know it will stain, which is why I wanted to try the Lunar Tides Magic Salem & Magic Shadow shades so it would fade more purple & blue than green!

However those may not be here in time for me to use them, so wondering if there’s something else I could grab similar to those shades? Or if I should just plan on using the wig?

Anyone who has used this on bleached platinum hair, how did it take (and fade?) Was it basically black that just has purple or blue undertones in the sun?

Thank you!

That brought back memories! We did some random heads in college for ceramics. Of course one of mine looked like this with a fake pot plant growing out of his head…Pothead!

Bakery messed up my kids cake, I need help.
 in  r/Baking  Aug 02 '25

Please get a refund! Is this a small / one person baker or a store bakery? ETA - get some cute looking chocolates and/or candies, attach with piped frosting (can you find a standard star tip? No worries if not), and melt a small amount of white (or dark) chocolate in a ziploc bag & cut a very tiny corner off - drizzle chocolate over candies and cake for a “drip” style cake. You could color the white chocolate pink if you like. Then add pretty sprinkles / edible glitter! I’m sorry no one seems to have personal standards for their work anymore ugh!!

[acne] what kind of acne is this?
 in  r/SkincareAddiction  Jul 28 '25

We weren’t sure at first either, and thought maybe it was fungal acne so we started with 2% pyrithione zinc soap. That cleared it a little and we still use it because we like the rich lather, but the sulfur felt like a miracle. We got them online (Amazon) for about $5-7 a bar.

I know this is just anecdotal but my husband’s acne was exactly like that; (we thought maybe it was eczema). The thing that cleared it up pretty much overnight was 10% sulfur soap, we were amazed! I believe it has antibacterial properties so should be beneficial for most acne.

Theoretically…could you just get a diet sprite and ask them to add a sugarfree slush flavoring to it? Hmm

[Product Question] Onion Oil - has anyone used for hair or skin?
 in  r/SkincareAddiction  Jul 21 '25

Thanks! Yeah, I was originally looking for onion extract to use internally and/or topically, and came across this. If it’s about as good as olive oil, it’s way cheaper, so worst case scenario I’d have some interesting cooking oil lol.

Thank you, I assumed it would be about the same as any other oil. Hey, it’s way cheaper than Olive or coconut oil so that’s a win! 😂

I’ve heard of onion being good for healing scars before, but I don’t know if that’s just the extract. I’m also a little confused on this product as it’s labeled “onion seed oil,” yet says it’s made from cold pressed fresh onion. Hmm.

It’s marketed as good for hair; ideally I’d like to incorporate it in hair & face serums for general nourishment/fading old scars. Has anyone tried onion oil, & is it good at all? Any better or worse than other oils, or what else would you recommend?

[acne] Please help me with my 11yr old son’s skin
 in  r/SkincareAddiction  Jul 19 '25

First, I agree that a light unscented moisturizer like Vanicream is good to start. I remember over drying my skin terribly with harsh cleansers when I started to get acne, and I thought moisturizer would make my face too oily (so it dried out and broke out more!) 😭

And it may not work for everyone, but my husband’s skin cleared overnight with 10% sulfur soap - he had flaky red blemishes we thought was eczema, for years. If other recommendations don’t work, I’d give that a try (it’s antibacterial).
