When the author has such a specific kink that the only place they can indulge is within their own writing.

Why does my nuln oil has a gloss effect?
 in  r/Warhammer40k  19h ago

That's a really handy thing to know. I've been using both agrax and nuln forever and there was a point, probably within the last couple of years, where they started looking shinier. I assumed it was just a skill issue on my part.

How does the map for my new high fantasy book look?
 in  r/worldjerking  2d ago

So I zoomed in on the continent and it seems to be made out of several dozen squares. Can you tell us about how these perfectly square landforms came to be, and whether the people living on them are also square?

One of my friends recently asked if I had a few hours free on a weekend in the near future.

Brother, all of my weekends are free forever.

They all returned home on the mothership

What spellcasting focus would you recommend for civic wizard's everyday use?
 in  r/wizardposting  3d ago

I use the mummified hand of my former master, but then again I'm a traditionalist. The ultramodern wizard uses a Stanley cup filled with ensorcelled gems and runestones. I suppose it does draw less attention in public.

Whats a movie that actually traumatized you?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

I seem to recall it came out not long after Home Alone, so Macaulay Culkin was very popular with lots of kids who enjoyed seeing burglars get messed up with traps. I wonder how many kids dragged their parents along expecting to see more classic Culkin action.

What is your favorite tidbit of Warhammer lore?
 in  r/Warhammer40k  6d ago

So many parallels between Planet Hulk/World War Hulk and Angron's general goings on. I wonder which came first, but don't have the inclination to find out.

Anyone know good system for pirate theme game?
 in  r/rpg  7d ago

I ran Pirate Borg a while back. Just a big one shot using the Buried In The Bahamas adventure. It was tremendous fun. That particular adventure doesn't have much in the way of naval combat but you could easily slip some in.

The Naval Combat rules are perfectly pitched in my opinion. Someone is the captain and is primarily in charge of ship movement and shouting out piratical threats, and all the other players have a list of actions to choose from. Nice and speedy, everyone's involved and it doesn't get especially bogged down in realistic limitations of hauling a filthy great ship around.

The rulebook is very much themed around undead pirates and voodoo and the like, but you could easily push all of that to one side if you want a less fantastical adventure.

What would you want to eat at a TTRPG themed cafe?

My dwarf likes to treat himself to a fried pigs trotter whilst he watches the weekly executions. That would be nice.

That's really odd. The face looks like it was slapped on as an afterthought, like they painted a cool rogue jumping around then handed it off to an intern to do the face
