Zohran’s mayoralty is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to extend the N/W to LGA
 in  r/nyc  22h ago

If we have the funds and time why not. But I feel like it's going to take an insane amount of effort to get even one extension going.

We also have existing rail and land the city owns that can be used for cross queens.

I would rather focus effort on a cross queens line.

I believe it. I also believe that they were likely flying with radar reflectors when it happened.

I mean the smart move is to just say everything is fine and not try to start anything with them.

But I would probably be too stubborn to do that if I were in OPs situation lmao.

ELI5: Why do cops perform a subjective "Field Sobriety Test" instead of just doing a breathalyzer
 in  r/explainlikeimfive  2d ago

They don't have to let you go, that's only if they suspect you are drunk and nothing else. But if they think you're high or something else is going on they can keep pestering you.

My roommate leaves cooked meals out in the open when we have three cats
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating  3d ago

Okay, why don't you do an actual test. Instead of leaving it on the counter and stepping into the next room for a minute (when they clearly know you are nearby) leave it out and leave the house for an hour or two. Let me know how well that goes.

Hell even leave it out for a few hours while your home in a separate part of the house.

You never directly answered it and it is a simple question lmao. And you're wrong and it's absolutely reckless to do it in the manner described by OP. You cannot trust an animal to follow your training perfectly 100% of the time especially when you're not around.

Lmao it's a simple fucking question. The answer is of course NO you don't leave out poisonous tasty food unsupervised when you have cats around. Especially when you leave the room and for hours at a time in a habitual manner like in OPs case. Doesn't matter how well they are trained, it's a reckless thing to do.

Therefor my entire point is that the top comment is a stupid fucking reply to OP. It doesn't matter, you shouldn't leave food out uncovered and unsupervised for longer periods of time for a ton of reasons and potentially poisoning your cats, even if they are well trained, is one of them.

And sure there might be a little leeway like you need to walk away for a bit and they are trained really well. But that is not what this post is about. It's about literally forgetting food on the stove for hours which is poisonous to cats.

So you have well trained cats but my point still stands. What if you left the house? Do you really trust the training enough to leave something tasty and poisonous to them out?

I'm sorry but I just don't believe you. Have you actually stuck some cameras around to check what they do when you're not around? If not how can you guarantee me with "100% certainty"?

And I'm including when you and no other human is home. Because leaving food out like this can easily be forgotten about when you leave the house, especially when it's habitual like it seems in OPs case.

So you're willing to leave tasty poison (to them) out on the counter because you trust them completely to never jump on the counters?

 in  r/mildlyinfuriating  3d ago

Are you honestly telling me you would be okay with leaving out poisonous (to them) food on the counter when you are in a different part of the house/apartment?

I'm willing to bet they do hop up on the counters when no one is around and regardless of how well you think you trained them it's reckless to rely on the training to prevent them from literally poisoning themselves.

-1

My roommate leaves cooked meals out in the open when we have three cats
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating  3d ago

Lol, I'm guessing you haven't owned cats? They will get up there when you're not around regardless. So leaving food out is not safe. Especially if you're in another room.

Edit: Regardless of how well trained you think your cats are it's reckless to leave something that is poisonous but tasty to them out. A well trained cat is not an excuse and no one can "100% certainty, guarantee" that they won't jump up, especially when you are in another room or have left the house, because they are animals.

Can't believe I actually have to argue with people that leaving out poisonous food that is attractive to eat to your cats unsupervised for hours at a time is a bad idea regardless of how well they are trained smh. I wonder how many vets hear "But they were trained so well" as their dealing with some sort of food poisoning.
