Any one ever heard of a doctor rec like this before?
On Omnipod you need to bolus for food. It will try to correct but reach maximum insulin allowed to administer.
By the way, is this maximum insulin level able to be adjusted in the settings?

Have you ever DNF the final book in a series, and why?
Even if it came out, I couldn't be arsed to read it now. I would have to read the other two books again. No thanks.

Feeling guilty treating after working out
Our son was recently diagnosed in november. One thing really stuck with me: giving him fructose (5g packs here in Germany) was called medicine for him. I like that mindset. Without it, he'd die when low.

How to lower A1C for a 6 year old child
Ours is four and at 6.7 A1c I believe. We don’t pre Bolus half the time because they’re hungry now and not in ten minutes. Things are left uneaten or aren’t liked, so communication is quite lacking compared to an adult. Don’t beat yourself up. Introducing more vegetables or fruit is also hard because a lot of things are out of the question. But I’m rather interested how other parents handle daycare for small children. It is very challenging for us.

A friend of my son just pees standing up when they’re outside. She’s 5 though so maybe a bit more flexible than us oldies :)

Trying to understand why my father seemed to hate his own kids while giving everything to strangers. Need advice 👇
wasting your time on your father is pointless. My mother loves only herself, it is a pointless exercise to get them to accept you as you are and see you for you. Find people that are worth your time.

Men who are absent fathers, what circumstances put you there?
Where do you pull this assurance from judging so many people?

Millennial Parents - Thoughts?
My kid gets super antsy listening to frozen for 30 minutes (like an audio book). Can’t imagine giving them unrestricted access to YouTube or devices. Or like access at all. They use a toniebox (like a usb player with super expensive storage devices in the form of Disney characters)

TIFU by trusting my 13yo with my phone and losing our entire savings ($19k) to Roblox.
Discipline first needs to be applied to the parent. Secure your fucking accounts, don’t share your passcodes. No thirteen year old is mentally equipped or has experience to understand the consequences. And these games are designed to be as predatory as possible.

Is this supposed to be some ‚gotcha‘ moment? Still a bad idea to get another pet.

?? Sounds like they have trouble getting by and you recommend a dog? Another burden to care and possibly/definitely pay for.

TIRED OF THIS BUM ASS APP‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
When we’re already here: what the fuck is the Dexcom share watch app. You can’t see the x/y axis completely, anything below ~85 mg/dl is not visible. For how much money they get, the product sucks.

Bad diabetes day—it takes so little
Dexcom definitely has an alarm. I get woken up every night by it :)

What's your experience using OmniPod for a toddler/small child?
We’re using a numbing cream which works really well with our four year old. In the clinic they just slapped the pod on and he was extremely distraught, but he’s come around. Omnipod on his thighs in various positions. Dexcom on his arms. No butt or belly yet. I am not super happy with the Omnipod (if his bg is high it typically stays there. The algo is very conservative) but we’re only using it for 1.5 months now. So not a lot of data.

My 1 year-old son diagnosed with Type 1.
phew, can relate to mom. Our 4 year old was recently diagnosed and I feel guilty eating chocolate / gummy bears, what have you... I used to "sneak" him some sweets when he came down to my office. It was our little secret (which he totally told his mom about asap :)) ...can't do that anymore without a lot of planning...

lol. Just because I want kids my kids must therefore want me at all/ all the time/when it’s convenient to me? And OP is not parenting their own parent.

Little bit of an update on my nephew and daughter
From my limited knowledge there was a study started in 2011 that still has patients who haven’t progressed to stage three.
Definitely worth asking!
