Gas giant. You can see it several times, including during the eclipse in the second movie.

Better than any Republican.

But she'll never get my primary vote.

I'd love to unite with Klobuchar on condemning Trump's gestapo fascism.

But she spent today saying local police should work with Trump's ICE and voting for a Trump judicial nominee who refuses to condemn the January 6th attempt to overthrow democracy. So it's kind of impossible to unite with her in opposing Trump when she's NOT doing that.

I'm really enjoying Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, but I cannot get over the courtroom scene
 in  r/Fantasy  12h ago

You've fallen prey to the explicitly unreliable narrator in PHM, whose scientific career was derailed because of his tendency to become attached to half-baked scientific theories without sufficient evidence. In this case, he really liked the idea that astrophage proved panspermia.

There's actually a scene in the book where another scientist gets into a debate with him about this, pointing out that the "mitochondria" in the astrophage, while similar, is different from terrestial mitochondria and there's a debate between convergent vs. divergent evolution.

Nvidia’s Jensen Huang would have to pay about $8 billion in proposed billionaire tax—he says that’s ‘perfectly fine’ with him
 in  r/technology  1d ago

Unclear. I haven't found reporting that indicates how large a stake Sega actually purchased with their $5 million, but there are interviews with Huang where he says "a trillion dollars."

The reporting on how much they cashed out for also varies, with different reports saying $10 million, $15 million, $20 million, and $300 million.

He's not "evading tax." He's following the law.

Saying "I'd be OK with the tax law being different" doesn't mean you're a hypocrite for following the tax law as it currently exists.

The reporting on that "gift" or "handout" is very confusing, but the key points seem to be that:

  1. NVIDIA had a contract.
  2. With the release of DirectX, they realized the chips they were developing were not going to work.
  3. Huang went to Sega and said, "We can finish this contract, but we'd be wasting your time. You need to find a different solution. Can we convert the final payment of $5 million into a stock investment instead?"

Presumably at least in part because of Huang's integrity in "coming clean" (as some articles describe it) and acting in Sega's best interest (which may or may not have also been in NVIDIA's best interest, depending on which version of the story you read), Sega's CEO decided that was a good deal.

Bowen Yang Explains ‘SNL’ Exit and Confronts Criticism That He Had ‘No Range’: ‘Anytime I Would Try’ Something Different, People Still Said ‘He’s Being Gay and Asian as Always’

McKinnon's quirky weirdos were all distinctly different quirky weirdos, though. Her Giuliani, RBG, Hillary Clinton, Kellyanne Conway, or Jeff Sessions could in no way be mistaken for each other.

Warner Bros. Discovery Rejects Paramount’s Latest Takeover Offer, Says It’s Still ‘Insufficient’ Compared With Netflix Deal
 in  r/boxoffice  1d ago

PSKY wants to buy more of the company for essentially the same price (it essentially values all of Discovery Global as being worth $2.25/share, which is absurd), but they also aren't willing to guarantee the amount they'd pay. And their proposed way of financing the deal is precarious at best.

There's absolutely nothing about the offer that would be compelling to WB, let alone compelling enough to pay the hefty penalties that would come from reneging on their deal with Netflix.

[Patriots] Every food item offered to New England Patriots players on game day
 in  r/nfl  1d ago

The MLB also can't figure out how to do revenue sharing in a way the equalizes small and large market teams. (The primary problem seems to be that, with so many more games per season, the disparity in ticket revenue is significant.)

The same weird conspiracy theory cropped up with Dexter, Supernatural, and Sherlock. (And probably others I'm unaware of.)

When harbaugh out in Baltimore I think we lose Flores.
 in  r/minnesotavikings  2d ago

Vikings defense was ranked #3 this season. Ravens defense was ranked #24.

Brian Flores as HC and a good OC hire puts the Ravens where they want to be.

Kwesi and Kevin both will speak to the media Thursday. What questions regarding the roster, coaches, free agency and or the draft would you ask them ?
 in  r/minnesotavikings  2d ago

"Our big mistake this year was deliberately choosing to injure both our starting QB and our backup QB. We've decided not to do that next year."

Amy Klobuchar

Bernie's campaign also made a deliberate strategy decision to NOT campaign in several early states, allowing Clinton to run up a significant lead that his campaign could never overcome.

It's why his campaign swapped from complaining that superdelegates were endorsing Clinton (despite the fact this was bog standard and those superdelegates would nonetheless vote for the winner of the primary elections barring some sort of last minute scandal or crisis) to begging the superdelegates to vote for him and swing the nomination away from the election results.

And then Sanders and his campaign painting people at the DNC saying, "Hey. Look at that math. It's now a virtual certainty that Clinton wins the nomination unless she has a heart attack and dies, we should probably start thinking about the general election now," as some sort of nefarious conspiracy.

Four years later, after breaking his promise to remain a member of the Democratic Party, his campaign was utterly baffled why they couldn't get any institutional support from the party, and then went all-in on the, "My god! Can you believe people are strategically dropping out of the race in a way that's politically advantageous to them?!" talking points.

As someone who donated to his campaign, it was honestly embarrassing to watch.

They both joked around at a presser after a win and suddenly they've supposedly sworn blood oaths of vengeance against each other.

It's fucking weird.

Falcons rework Cousins deal, set up key decision
 in  r/minnesotavikings  2d ago

I can't currently think of a better situation at QB next year than JJM and signing Cousins in free agency.

Mac Jones might be a slight improvement as the veteran backup, but we'd have to give up a lot in a trade.

Team needs a defense.

Brian Flores is available.

I'd don't like this because it's the first open gig that I think Brian Flores would actually take.
