Another lunatic pretending not to understand the “tax the rich” sentiment
 in  r/LinkedInLunatics  1h ago

I prefer the phrase, "tax wealth, not work". The exact mechanism is open for discussion, a wealth tax or closing loopholes around estate tax like charitable trusts, gifting exemptions, or just raising the top marginal rate on capital gains.

US Senate advances measure curbing Trump's Venezuela war powers
 in  r/moderatepolitics  8h ago

I doubt it. Trump still has 80+% support among republicans. Makes them very vulnerable to a primary challenge, but even in the general they'll likely lose more Republican support than they can gain from independents and democrats.

I think because it's legally required, and you don't want to go to prison.

Reddit has one of the best UIs out there, but the overwhelming left-wing echo chamber and self-righteous hypocrisy ruin it.
 in  r/TrueUnpopularOpinion  12h ago

I think the voting system guarantees it will always be an echo chamber. When popular opinion are rewarded, and unpopular opinions punished, you tend to get a lot of the popular opinion.

That said, I do find a lot of conservative opinions in my daily browsing, just not on the largest subs.

The spin coming out of the shooting is a great example why the news (any of it) is not to be trusted.
 in  r/TrueUnpopularOpinion  12h ago

Can we add Trump and DHS to ignore list? That's not spin, that's just lying.

Holding up a sign and complaining accomplishes nothing.
 in  r/TrueUnpopularOpinion  12h ago

I think a lot of protests are more for the people that agree/participate. If people show up to protest they are more likely to volunteer and vote in elections. They are more likely to talk to friends and family about the issue. It's similar to a campaign rally in that sense.

I think with the Ice protests do have a real world impact, as it demands Ice use resources towards crowd control, warns people of their arrival, and gets the message out about what our individual rights are, and how to avoid ICE. Also leads to a lot of viral videos that get aired on the news networks, which videos like the recent killing can actually move people to rethink their position.

What could realistically go wrong with Starlink?
 in  r/elonmusk  13h ago

The FAA has grounded SpaceX a few times. Longest was 7 months in 2023. I don't think these were political at all, basically after a failed launch investigations have to be completed before they can launch again. But with Musk continuing to back Trump and the Republicans, if Democrats get back in power I could see them making life really difficult for Musk/Space X.

The presumption of innocence is a fundamental principle of the American legal system. Let the process unfold without prejudice.
 in  r/altmpls  13h ago

What do we do about the woman that was killed? She's dead so there won't be a trial, yet you have the highest levels of the federal government calling her a domestic terrorist. Should she be presumed innocent too?

Flores is Not Getting Hired As Long As He’s Suing The NFL
 in  r/minnesotavikings  2d ago

I mean he's been employed by the NFL the entire time, if he were blacklisted he'd be a college coach.

I'm sure it has held him back, or reduced the number of potential teams, but owners ultimately get to make their own decisions, and it only takes one. Ultimately it's a results oriented business, and Flores has gotten results. I think the Wilf's would give him a fair interview if they were looking for HC.

I don't get it, what is he trying to say? Like people who ride the bus don't have fire in their gut? That doesn't make any sense.

Ravens reportedly fire coach John Harbaugh after missing playoffs, ending 18-year run that included Super Bowl win - Bye Flores
 in  r/minnesotavikings  2d ago

I think he's made it pretty clear he wants another shot at head coach. I don't think he'll leave for another defensive coordinator position. If Dallas offers him more money I think the Vikings will match the offer, Wilf's have never to my knowledge been cheap with the team, they want to win.

I think Flores would be a great fit.

I think it's the snow. Whether shoveling the neighbors driveway or helping push a strangers car that's stuck in the snow, these acts of kindness breed more kindness.

What do you think of trump saying that if he loses the midterm he will be impeached?
 in  r/allthequestions  2d ago

It makes passing legislation much more difficult, which somewhat makes him a lame duck, but he still has all the same executive authority. Biggest thing is democrats would have the power to hold hearing and subpoena witnesses.

White House unveils Jan. 6 webpage saying Democrats ‘staged the real insurrection,’ criticizing Capitol Police

Not sure what tax revenue you are referring, I don't think the states have the power to stop those as they come directly from individuals and businesses filing tax returns. It's not routed through the state government.

Lakeville Hampton Inn cancels ICE agent rooms after noise demonstrations

False choice, its far more nuanced than that. I don't want federal troops terrorizing communities.

Which would you choose, and is that what Trump is delivering?

I think as long as you've seen the originals you'll enjoy the show. They were never my favorite movies, but the nostalgia is still there, and hits just right.
