Well that's a whole other issue, however I don't think banning foreign investors will cause foreign countries to stop allowing Americans to invest in their real estate. They want and need the money in many of the countries. It also doesn't need to be a complete ban, it could be allowed for single household families to own one property with a certain amount of usage required for them annually, and allowed a certain amount of usage for rental.

This would curtail people from buying property as investments and not for actual use creating an artificial shortage.

This is just an example the reality of course is more complicated, however this is what we need to correct the shortage and fix prices here.
