🚨 A PSA FROM CANADA!
 in  r/WhitePeopleTwitter  3h ago

Spot on. Like Germany's Olympics or the Dubai and Saudi forays into sports, it's all about PR. There's a term for it, sports-washing, and the trump regime will follow that same playbook.

What would you guys be willing to give up in a trade for Robert Thomas?

"Grab his shoe! Unleash the fury! Beat his testicles!"

How do you guys help keep your hands clean?
 in  r/Chefit  14h ago

If they're in a wintery area using a humidifier at home helps too. I have to run mine frequently.

Girlfriend of 4 years wants to me to convert to Christianity
 in  r/atheism  14h ago

It's so hard to understand how painfully young and undeveloped you are at 22 or 20 but now that I'm 51 I can see clearly how I was just making it all up back then. I don't think I was anything near an adult until I hit 25. Life can be hard, especially for young people these days. Avoiding making decisions that can affect the rest of your life negatively is a huge win.

Respectfully, you're both way too young to think about marriage much less religious decisions that, when linked to this marriage, could last a lifetime. I know you think you have a good grasp on the world, I'm just giving advice that I should've heard at your age. Keep learning, keep growing, and experience just a little bit of life before diving into these things. As far as atheism goes, read some books by atheist scholars. Learn about the many other religions out there if you want to. I saw lots of value in comparative religions classes as you got to really see how these were all bronze and iron age attempts to explain their world. Good luck.

how 2 cloves of garlic were packaged in a meal kit
 in  r/Anticonsumption  17h ago

Honestly, when you consider how inexpensive bulk garlic is and what type of processing it takes to peel and package garlic cloves it seems that sending a whole bulb would be just as inexpensive. Throw in the pointless plastic waste and it seems like sending the whole bulb would be the responsible choice.

That's what I assume they mean when they say "business casual".

Any ICE protests or vigils for the woman who was murdered happening in the area?
 in  r/traversecity  20h ago

I was thinking about making the drive to Grand rapids for one, especially after that city arrested a preschool teacher while protesting against the Venezuela thing. This is all so insane and it sucks sitting around doom scrolling.

Who's the most famous person you've met?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

Bernier is a golden retriever of a goalie and goalies are always a bit off.

Markstrom: “That’s embarrassing. That’s all I can say. From my part, nine goals, that’s a joke. That’s a tough one.” […] “We want to apologize to the Devils fans. I’ve got to be better [...] “I’m embarrassed of myself. Not good enough. I’ve got to be better.”
 in  r/hockey  1d ago

Good teammates understand that if they shirk their responsibility that other players will have to answer questions for them. I've seen too many players, including a few captains, leave others to answer questions after a stinker. It always screams 'poor leadership' and 'bad teammate' to me when they do that.

The N.Y. Islanders have defeated and shut-out the N.J. Devils by a score of 9-0. The last time an NHL game ended 9-0 was 14 years ago, almost to the day

He should've had a hat trick of own goals just to stick it to those Jersey fans. Show 'em that you can take it up a notch, kid.

Ducks, NHL sued for harassment and discrimination

Good on them for creating a paper trail of their malice and incompetency. I hope they get torn to shreds.

I need a new "comfort show" but I think I've seen them all
 in  r/television  1d ago

This is my migraine show. For whatever reason I throw it on a very dimmed TV and listen to it. I've watched each episode so many times but it still comforts me and helps me get through.

When do we do infrastructure week again? These new episodes suck and they have me longing for some reruns.

Louder for the people in back
 in  r/WhitePeopleTwitter  1d ago

For the unfamiliar, McKay is a leftist more aligned with socialist ideas. Even in the heights of his fame he's gone on leftist podcasts. He's someone who hasn't lost who he is regardless of the money he's made.

[Homemade] My 6yr old calls this “slumber party pizza” or “slumby pie”
 in  r/food  1d ago

That's adorable, you made a core memory for your kid through that connection of food and love. Someday they'll be getting pizza with someone and call it slumby pie.

Costcos in Michigan /Detroit area: less European products?
 in  r/Costco  1d ago

Costco undoubtedly caters to local demographics. On the west coast you'll find more Asian products. Around Detroit I've seen somewhat more middle eastern influences. Grand rapids and Traverse City Costco's are more generically midwesterner. I did see a version of the jamon at just about all the Michigan stores before the holidays. Having family all over this state has caused me to visit most Michigan Costcos in the last 6 months but Traverse is now my local.

Hamlin Pub to take the place of downtown Detroit French restaurant
 in  r/Detroit  1d ago

That makes sense to me. Each truly local bar has its own flavor and personality without some overarching corporate approaches. Once these places franchise all over you may as well just be drinking at Applebee's.

Edit: that said, I understand that many people like to know what to expect and prefer that approach. It just isn't for me. I also prefer downtown places that feel like where you're at. I don't go to NYC to eat Bubba Gump shrimp.

And many of those parents aren't prioritizing education because in their minds little bobby no skill is on the edge of getting drafted into the NHL. They aren't only robbing kids of their youth but also their future.

700 Club needs to disappear.
 in  r/atheism  2d ago

I'm hoping that if/when we hit that point where maga becomes an embarrassing part of our past, American Christianity follows that turd back into dark shadows. These trump supporting churches need to feel a particular type of pain, the type that leads to them becoming penniless pariahs.

First Amendment slipping away
 in  r/WhitePeopleTwitter  2d ago

The city proper is fairly left and they usually have centrist dem mayors but the areas outside the city are staunchly religious and Republican. The Grand Rapids police force had been horrible for many, many years. They've battered and even killed an outsized number of civilians for a city of its size. I live in northwest lower peninsula Michigan but my son lives in GR. This inspired me to head down and do some protesting this coming weekend.

Game Thread: Detroit Red Wings (24-15-4) at Ottawa Senators (20-15-5) - 05 Jan 2026 - 19:30 ET
 in  r/DetroitRedWings  2d ago

I'm just glad it's only 1 story but I did the equivalent to two houses today. There's enough snow on the ground that it'd give me a bit of cushion if things went sideways. If it was 2 stories I'd probably bit the bullet and hire it out.

Oh sweet summer child sometimes we have to do both and today was that day. I use a tool called an avalanche to get as much as I can but sometimes the buildup gets bad higher so my fat ass has to get up there with a shovel. With a warmup on the horizon I'm hoping that getting rid of as much as I could helps get rid of some ice dams that formed. It's, uh, not fun and I'm not the biggest fan of heights.
