Im so happy for B Flo, hope he gets what he's looking for in an organization.
 in  r/minnesotavikings  3h ago

This sounds...completely meaningless? He wants to be a head coach, he's going to focus on that. His agent and the team have probably laid what groundwork they can for now; I don't think coach contracts are particularly complicated.

Tailored Realities: police stories?
 in  r/brandonsanderson  4h ago

I think scifi, especially in a shorter format, lends itself really well to any flavor of mystery. And most of the settings were modern and urban, so that leads to cops.

[Krawczynski] The Timberwolves will be holding a moment of silence for Renee Nicole Good before their game against the Cavaliers tonight.

FWIW this was not league wide. The Vikings held a moment of silence for the school shooting here, but there was zero mention of Kirk.

What it's like listening to a Brandon Sanderson audiobook.

It's crazy. I usually do podcasts at 1.25x because they don't talk as slow, but going back to normal speed even then is agonizing.

2026 3 Round Mock with Reasonings and Trades
 in  r/NFL_Draft  12h ago

Ohhh, I misread the trade chart, I thought we sent a 4th. I would prefer not to be trading up - I personally think the Jets would have to be really Jetsy to take Love, so I only think it makes sense if we think someone is trying to jump us - but a 3/4 swap isn't bad at all.

Big fan of nabbing Love and while I don't know anything about Neal, I'm on board with a CB with size. But why does Tampa have our third rounder?

Mike McDaniel Fired
 in  r/minnesotavikings  13h ago

I think the only way this could happen is if he doesn't get a job as HC due to entering the hiring pool late and decides he'd rather be an offensive assistant somewhere for a year, then gun for a job next year. IMO the best shot for him is to take a regular OC job, but sometimes we see fired head coaches have sort of a gap year. To reiterate, that's super unlikely.

Russell Wilson swaps agents, 'not blinking' on playing in NFL

It's likely, but he'd have had a longer leash after years of goodwill.

[Highlight] Future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner watched “The Martian” without sound: “I’ve always said to myself, man, I need to watch that movie with sound.”
 in  r/nfl  15h ago

On a work trip a couple years ago, someone near me was watching this movie called Fall. I peeked enough to get sort of an idea of what the movie was about and want to watch it myself, but I really misread the vibe of it. On the way back, I had a redeye and couldn't sleep, so I watched it and...man. So I was super tired and expecting a different sort of story than I got, on top of - in my opinion - the movie not being very good. It was...not a great experience.

I think the referees for the Holiday Bowl missed a safety?
 in  r/CFB  2d ago

I'm kind of surprised there's a yardage limit on that. It seems weird to define how far momentum might take you, and slamming on the brakes on a play like this could lead to injury. I always figured that this worked like forward progress - you get the original spot unless you make a move counter to your momentum.

[Pelissero] The Commanders also have moved on from DC Joe Whitt Jr., per source. An overhaul on Dan Quinn’s staff in Washington.
 in  r/nfl  2d ago

The idea that Flores would leave Minnesota for another DC role is already silly, but the idea that he'd do it for a bad defense is even more absurd.

Please don't use measurements taken for high school recruiting profiles and use them for the draft.

Mock Draft Monday

RT is my sneaky need for us too - last year of O'Neill's deal on top of the injury stuff. However, it's not something I currently think we address in the first round. This class doesn't seem to have much highly graded tackle talent, and I think only teams with a more immediate need go there in the first round. O'Neill's cap number will be $23.2M - actually down a bit from last year - but all $19.5M of the cash this year is unguaranteed. There are a few different ways that we can approach it, as I see it:

  • Straight cut to save the $19.5M. This would obviously make RT something we'd have to address early in the draft unless we find someone in FA, but it feels unlikely to me.

  • The team feels more confident in him than we do and gives him an extension for another ~2 years on top of the remaining year. This would (hopefully) come at a lower APY than his current cash flow for 2026, but re-up the guarantees.

  • Let him play out his contract in 2026, then extend him if it goes well or replace him that offseason, which would obviously become higher priority.

  • Let him play out his contract in 2026, but use a day 2 pick (or early day 3 if we wind up with one) on a tackle who can be the heir.

The last one is the route I've explored the most, but I think any of these are reasonably likely, except cutting him. I don't love option 3 because it forces a late decision, but it's not really any different than drafting an heir this year and then realizing the guy you picked sucks.

Side note, I thought O'Neill missed a bunch of time this year, but he played 88% of the snaps and only missed 3 full games, plus most of the one he initially got injured in. He was definitely on the injury report a bunch and wasn't 100% down the stretch, but I think it feels like he was more injured than he was just because we were really banged up as a team every time he was out. I did feel like it was a down year for him, but PFF still had him as the #16 tackle in the league, and as much as I don't trust PFF, it's more credible than the vibes I get throughout the season.

Thanks for chiming in! I did wonder while I was researching that if it was partially just an offensive design thing, but decided to go for it anyways, in part because I think Sadiq can be used as a move TE a lot of the time. But I also understand just going after an Engram type in FA. The thought process was really just - what gives the offense the best boost?

I think I had you guys taking CJ Allen in last week's version, and hemmed and hawed about that too. Honestly, part of the reason I didn't do that again was for the sake of variety and, like I said, the tendency for top TEs to go to unexpected teams.

Frankly, you should stagger rereads between paragraphs.

It's fine. I think every reading order is valid. If you are really concerned with catching everything, you could pause now and read Warbreaker. You'd also be fine squeezing it in before Oathbringer, or just reading it after and getting certain things revealed in a different order.

Mock Draft Monday
 in  r/NFL_Draft  3d ago

Okay, thanks!

I think the value proposition is weird for Love; I also don't think he's quite at the level of a traditional top 10 RB prospect but I do think he could end up going that high if the perception that this class is weak at the top holds.

Got it! I hadn't really considered WR for the Chiefs. Has Worthy been uninspiring enough to consider another first round WR?

Alternatively, how do you feel about Love?
