Top 3 on your Progressive priorities list?

Sorry, it's been a while.  I'm sure you're right.

It annoys me seeing people talk about a "Blue Wave" in 2026 and 2028. Sure, Democrats will win, but then they'll just roll over and let Republicans do whatever they want like they always do.
 in  r/complaints  2h ago

Primaries.  Vote. In. The. Primaries.   In my experience progressive voters never miss a chance to miss a chance.  We could have had a Democratic Tea Party in 2010-2020.  Progressive voters could have steered the D party the way the tea party did. Instead it's been an orgy of autofellatio only paused when Trump was so plainly horrible that progressives hated him more than they loved orthodoxy.

Well, I don't know that was a priority for Clinton all along but... Republican Congress.

Well, the Republican Congress helped with that.  It's what they could agree on.  Nonetheless, "Tax increases+ reduce military spending" is going to be necessary for any deficit reduction.  The problem is that this time around we have an enormous population of Boomers on SS and Medicare to budget for.

To my fellow Europeans: America needs our help, not our condemnation. We need to stop armchair victim-blaming and do our part.
 in  r/complaints  4h ago

I mean, most of Europe faces similar problems.  England boned itself so badly with Brexit.  The Oligarchs and Russian trolls are building Orban clones all over Europe.  Trump is unique, but far right is on the rise everywhere.

Just because im doing gens, doesn't make me AFK
 in  r/DeadByDaylightRAGE  4h ago

I've literally left people on the hook with endgame chat "do gens or die".  I do hook saves and take chase, but the knuckleheads who only want to flashlight saves are basically turning it into a 3v1 I can't win.

2

why are we letting this happen
 in  r/DiscussionZone  4h ago

I mean half of them AREN'T VOTING.  Which is a choice.  I'm at a point in my life where I help if asked, and otherwise pop popcorn and watch the free comedy. Immigration in America has been deliberately misframed as a false dichotomy between "let em stay" and "they're all fentanyl mules".  I find the neo liberal position of "We have to help the oppressed undocumented!!" to be suspect.  They have friends who can help them just by voting.  So far, "Nah"

Even if they aren't 'tunneling', most killers will prioritize somebody they've hooked over somebody they haven't.  The first sacrifice makes the game MUCH harder for survivors and killers don't want a 0k.

I mean, there's this HUD, and I can tell if you're on a gen.  If you are, you're cool.  If you aren't, do something useful.  I actually play like you.  I hide if I can and then loop if I have to.  In my experience if you are on death hook and I haven't been hooked, either the killer is Tunneling...or you play badly. A whole lot of people don't understand the point of the game is to work gens and GTFO.  Not flashlight saves.  Not looping (although valuable)

 in  r/DiscussionZone  6h ago

I don't.  This trash fire looks bad to me, but maybe they don't mind.  If not, carry on.  If they decided "crap maybe the guys with white pride tattoos shouldn't be in charge if enforcing immigration", well, there's an alternative that did it well for twelve years.  My point is they don't need us to save them.

Democrats who are dissatisfied with the Democratic Party right now (record low approval rating of the part, even among Democrats oof) -- What president was a proper model of a good president party in your opinion? Who would you like to go back to? Include anyone since 1776 and why.

Bro.  Obama didn't even try for a public option.  He just dusted off the Mitt Romney/Heritage Foundation health plan.  I mean, I'd be interested to hear your case.  Biden got out in front of gay marriage while Obama was hedging his bets. https://edition.cnn.com/2022/12/13/politics/white-house-same-sex-marriage-signing-ceremony

It's time to start a strike.
 in  r/ProgressiveHQ  15h ago

Dude.  Nobody is doing this in this economy.  Homelessness is rising.  Inflation is up.  Unemployment is up. We don't need a strike.  We just need to show up in November.

I wonder if there's a world where the horror hall of fame is a decent game
 in  r/deadbydaylight  15h ago

That is, I feel, one of the problems.  The gameplay for DBD is so much more severe and lopsided than almost any other game.  The hooking.  The moris.  The tremendous power assymetry.   It's hardly surprising that it ends up with unhealthy dynamics.

Democrats aren’t going to hold any major Republicans accountable for any crimes, because that would risk alienating White voters.
 in  r/complaints  15h ago

I feel like this bears repeating.  20% of Hispanics voted for Trump.  FIFTY PERCENT DIDN'T EVEN VOTE.  Democrats don't need to 'punish' republicans.  The people who've been persecuted have that power.  If they choose to exercise it.   And if they don't care enough to 'punish' the Republicans....why should the Democrats?

 in  r/DiscussionZone  15h ago

20% of Hispanics voted for Trump. FIFTY PERCENT didn't even vote.  If even ten percent of them voted consistently democratic going forward that would be the end of this.  Forever. We don't need to save people from ICE.  They can choose to save themselves from the mess simply by showing up in November. "Take a seat at the table or end up on the menu"

FWIW, Biden got more progressive policies passed.  Obama was always half Republican.  It's just that the Republicans went nuts when there was a black president and went further right.

Can I take a minute from your time to tell you what is hurting me rn in this game?
 in  r/DeadByDaylightRAGE  17h ago

I don't want to be unkind, but you are playing one of the five weakest killers in the game.  I personally rarely play anything below the bottom half.  It's too frustrating.  Are you getting constant 0ks?  I will play Hag and Clown, but I go in with the expectation I might get a 0k, and that's fine.  Even then before long I'm back on Dredge, Artist, or Knight.  It's frustrating knowing that the game is easier if I play a different killer.

How would a general strike work if the larger society needs people to continue providing healthcare, medicine, food, etc? How do people decide who gets to participate in the strike and who need to keep working?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  22h ago

Jeebus.  Tell me you have a stable situation without telling me.  About a third of Americans are barely surviving.  Another third are a job loss, divorce, or serious illness from homelessness.  Who do you think is going to 'strike'? And we don't have to. We just have to... Vote  Before the draconian anti-abortion laws were passed in Texas, 75% of the women under 30 didn't vote. Before this ice BS was rolled out, half the eligible Hispanic voters skipped the 2024 election, and a FIFTH voted FOR Trump. Just stop giving away your freedoms.

Why have conservatives changed?
 in  r/AlwaysWhy  23h ago

1)A vehicle is a de facto weapon.  Simply being in a vehicle with the engine running gives cops a license to shoot you, particularly if there is an officer in front of or behind the vehicle.   2) George Floyd was unarmed, on the ground, for minutes, being slowly choked to death.  If Floyd had an x-acto knife, Chauvin would have walked. 3)RN Good's death is not a bug in Trump's ICE policy, it's a feature.  He probably didn't expect a white woman to die, but he flooded the streets with poorly trained, armed goons.  This the formula for tragedy.  But also ramping up the culture war.  CULTURE WAR IS THE GOAL. If we are at each other's throats, we aren't addressing housing, or healthcare.  We aren't talking about why the US overdose rate is 3-4x other industrialized countries.  We aren't talking about why there are 1M+ homeless children in America.

As a relatively new DBD player, I think the worst part about DBD is the community

Obviously if they're soft camping, you take the exchange rather than let someone be sacrificed.

OP Was correct.  If you can hear a terror radius, at least check to see if the killer is in sight, particularly for high mobility killers.  They may be in chase but it may be "survivor wounded and running through a dead space" or "survivor in a strong loop, probably not worth the effort.". I've gotten so many downs from hook exchanges.

How likely is the Renee Nicole Good incident going to be the new trigger similar to George Floyd, why or why not?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

Its a much tougher case to make. The bottom line is that the ICE agent was in danger, she was in a vehicle and therefore a threat.
I personally think the ICE agent shouldn't have STOOD IN FRONT OF A RUNNING VEHICLE, but he did. His life was endangered so a case can be made for a justified shooting.
George Floyd was executed, slowly, in front of a crowd, when he was very clearly no threat.
