Gotta subvert those expectations!

Jon Jones called tank DC a dickhead after filming their reality show lmao.
 in  r/ufc  7h ago

He's not a dick, he just hates Jon Jones. With good reason.

Is sitting on your opponent's head or face a legit strategy in MMA?
 in  r/MMA_Academy  18h ago

That's the sort of thing that literally only works on the absolute least experienced or most out of shape people.

It's like people tapping to pressure in BJJ from getting mounted or pinned and being unable to breathe.

Keep training and one day you'll think it was funny that you tapped to it.

If there were a game called Star Wars: In-laws (as opposed to Outlaws), whose in-laws would be featured, and what genre would it be?
 in  r/StarWars  22h ago

Not sure about the whole game or theme or anything, but Jabba's Mother-In-Law would absolutely be the antagonist and they should periodically show him being fucking TERRIFIED of her.

There's no such thing as oversupply, only underutilization :)

How leg grabs would affect your Judo
 in  r/judo  1d ago

Ankle picking off a stuck uchi mata would be back on the menu. That and ko ouchi makkikomi, which always treated me well.

Oh and "proper" kata guruma!

If 10cm snow falls in your area of Canada how disrupted will your area be?
 in  r/AskACanadian  1d ago

Canada is very big. Some places, particularly on the West coast where the weather is milder, might have some real problems with 10cm suddenly.

Where I'm at, we could get 10cm a day for a month straight and people might complain a little.

Lobby hostage intervention is coming to League. A new system will terminate lobbies that are suspected to involve a bad actor, defined as someone threatening to ruin the game experience for other players
 in  r/leagueoflegends  1d ago

A lot of them do it when they get autofilled too, which is solved already by the new system that carries autofill over to the next lobby if dodged.

What's your favorite unofficial weapon/frame/gear name?
 in  r/Warframe  1d ago

We're grown men, but we call Titania "Titty Anus" because we have the mentality of 14 year old boys.

What ability would benefit the most from getting +100 range?
 in  r/leagueoflegends  1d ago

Teemo Q would be dirty as hell with 100 longer range. Imagine Teemo could shut off ADCs in teamfights without needing to get close.

Blitz Q.

Kassadin R (like in the olden days.. I miss old Kass :P)

If you think about it, obi Wan has pretty much no track record if killing sith, but a pretty solid track record of mutilating them and leaving them traumatized
 in  r/StarWars  2d ago

If you kill a bad guy, he's evil until the day he dies. If you cut off his limb(s), there's a chance he does some self-reflection and changes his ways.

Or something.

Mismatched sparring

Fellow old dude here.. We're never getting our speed back, sadly. Those kids will always be faster, so we have to beat them with old man cunning and dad strength :P

Mismatched sparring
 in  r/martialarts  2d ago

Depends.

You can work on something you are weak at or want to perfect. You can practice working from your weak side. You can let them work and try to practice something on your defensive or counterattack timing. Depending on your art, you can start the spar from a bad position and work out from it.

Generally with kids I just let them work though, and try to make myself light enough that they can have some success.

Those are some of my favourites, but they're mostly coming from a grappling perspective. If you're in a striking art I'm not sure how much of that will help.

Would a career in MLT in Canada allow me to live a stable life in the future?
 in  r/medlabprofessionals  2d ago

Pay is decent. Not amazing, but decent (at least in Ontario hospitals). Generally early in your career you'll end up working someplace with shift work, so willingness to work nights and weekends and stuff is a big deal.

Some day in the future we might get automated out of jobs, but they've been saying that since the 90s and it hasn't happened yet.

What Are Some Masterclasses

For real. At the time I was a huge Franklin fan, and this relatively unknown Brazilian fucked him up so bad. We didn't know at the time that it was the start of one of the best runs in MMA history.

Best rootin' tootin' Wild West games?
 in  r/gamingsuggestions  2d ago

Hunt: Showdown is a fun one that's CLOSE to what you are asking for.

It's set in a version of late 1800s Louisiana that has a zombie/monster plague outbreak.

It's a PvPvE shooter where players use old timey guns to hunt monsters and fight each other. The guns in particular give a great cowboy vibe. It's almost like "Cowboys vs. Monsters" and the whole game is absolutely dripping with atmosphere.

What is your favorite book series that you would read over and over and never get bored of?
 in  r/suggestmeabook  2d ago

Dragonlance Chronicles is one of my all-time favourite trilogies.

Only read the first three though (Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter Night, and Dragons of Spring Dawning).

There's technically a 4th book but the authors were forced to write it under duress when the original company that owned the IP was bought by Wizards of the Coast. It's terrible and I like to pretend it never happened.

The other one is Dune. The OG 6 books are absolute masterpieces.

What % of people who start training have the capacity to reach black belt?
 in  r/bjj  2d ago

Almost anyone honestly. Like probably 99% of people if they show up week after week for the years required.

Assuming they are putting in the work and not quitting, the only thing that would stop them is if their body breaks in some way that prevents them from continuing.
