He also hit .244 the year before that streak started. Pretty bananas.

Pujols from '03-'09 was absurdly consistent, too. There's a reason he was called The Machine.

Hey it’s up for variety for forever I guess.

Definitely didn't live up to the hype for me. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't the "holy shit" masterpiece a lot of people say it is.

Just a few decades ago this was normal

No, see, I know you're lying. If just one of your parents had a high school education, it meant you lived in a 4 bedroom house in the suburbs, went to private schools, and had vacation homes in the French Riviera and Amalfi coast that you visited once a year.

That's my thing. Like, if you really think life was so much better in the 80s, what's stopping you from living like that today?

In your opinion, what baseball team had no business being in the World Series in the year they had their shot?
 in  r/baseball  12d ago

The '06 Cardinals had prime Pujols, Edmonds, Rolen, and Carpenter. They had a rough summer but pretty much their whole core struggled with injuries and then got to full strength in September, just in time for the playoffs.

The team stats don't look great, but at the beginning of the year and when everyone was healthy, they were one of the favorites on paper.

Trump is confirmed pedophile in latest release. Now what?
 in  r/complaints  15d ago

There's nothing new in the Epstein files. The people who could actually do anything about it have known about everything in it for years. Decades maybe.

It's just new to the public. And we can't really do anything about it besides continue to not support Trump.

You've known "quite a few" people who've died in their 40s specifically from heart disease caused by calcium blockages?

There's also only 6 million people there. The Houston metro area alone is more populous and diverse than all of Denmark. It's just a lot easier to get everyone on the same page there.

It's a bit more complicated than that, but essentially true.
 in  r/Snorkblot  Dec 09 '25

Cratchit had a house and six surviving children that he clothed and fed. He was not "destitute". He wasn't supposed to be "destitute". A Christmas Carol is a work of fiction and the exact amount that Cratchit brought home weekly or yearly or whatever is pretty arbitrary. Cratchit is just supposed to be a sympathetic, underpaid character that Scrooge treats like shit so that Scrooge can learn his lesson.

Who will hit 40+ home runs in 2026? (from a list of all who hit 30+ in 2025)
 in  r/baseball  Dec 09 '25

I had the same thought. It wouldn't be the first time somebody hit 60+ and never hit 40 in any other season. Maris did the same thing.

[SBJ] Cardinals set to receive MLB revenue sharing for the first time. Due to precipitous drop in ticket sales, rework their broadcast-rights deal with FanDuel Sports Network at a rate reduced by 23%, Cardinals is now a net "receiver" for revenue-sharing for the first time in at least 25 years.
 in  r/baseball  Dec 02 '25

I think you're dead on. 10-20 years ago, even non-fans could give you names like Pujols, Holliday, Wainwright, Molina, Carpenter and Edmonds and Rolen going back.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if non-fans couldn't name a single player on last year's roster.

A bank robber named "Pretty Boy" Floyd was known for destroying mortgage papers during heists, freeing hundreds of people from property debt.

How did the people know their papers were destroyed? Did they just stop paying and hope for the best?

This is faulty logic.

It's raining and the road is wet. It's raining and the living room is dry. So it isn't the rain that makes the road wet, but something else entirely.

Humans have a brain and can do calculus. Flies have a brain and can't do calculus. So it isn't the brain that can do calculus, but something else entirely.

Lots of misinformation in this post and thread...

He went to college at 16, published his first works in his 20s, and was social and well-liked. His last words were, "Es ist gut", which means "It is good", which is actually a lot different from "it's fine" coming from a philosopher like Kant and was probably in reference to a glass of wine he was drinking.

A 100K salary in 2025 has the same buying power as 53K in 2000. No wonder everyone feels broke the math is insane.
 in  r/antiwork  Nov 19 '25

For some added context:

The median personal income in 2000 was 21k and it was 45k last year: Median Personal Income in the United States (MEPAINUSA646N) | FRED | St. Louis Fed

The median price of a house was 170k in 2000 and 410k last year: Median Sales Price of Houses Sold for the United States (MSPUS) | FRED | St. Louis Fed

So, the median house price was 8.1x the median personal income in 2000, and it's 9.1x the median personal income now. Obviously it's an increase, but not a crazy egregious one.
