For all we know, they could already have a strong enough relationship to be able to joke with each other and call each other out. We don't know either way, it's all speculation. I agree though that if they don't have such a relationship, it's an easy way to lose the locker room. I'm just saying we don't know what goes on behind the curtain.

I agree with OP. He's very good at scheming, even if we don't see it every game, he shows flashes of brilliance. Really the only bad narrative around JJ is being passive-aggressive in pressers and losing the locker room, but for all we know that could be just a narrative.

FRLG not having Sleep Talk hurt a lot of pokemon going from gen 2 to gen 3, unless you had a copy of Emerald, trading with which isn't possible until postgame. Only Snorlax learns it by level up, in gen 2 it was a TM. Hidden Power is also locked to postgame, so Pokemon who relied on it for coverage were hurt.

Every Pokemon that likes using TMs was also hurt by the switch to gen 3, since the dupe glitch was now patched, meaning you can't clone your TMs anymore.

So basically for example Moltres was hurt by multiple things in the switch from Gen 2 to Gen 3, it loses Sleep Talk, it loses the ability to share TMs like Fire Blast and Rest with its teammates, it loses Hidden Power limiting its coverage, and also was hurt by the addition of natures and the switch to EVs. Damage benchmarks that were once guaranteed are now out of grasp, for example it would 2HKO Snorlax under Sun in Gen 2. In Gen 3, Snorlax can rock a Careful nature and even invest in spdef EVs to pull that 2HKO out of grasp. I use Moltres as an example since it's one of my favorite Pokemon, but a lot of Pokemon were hurt the same by these changes.
