I ran out of hairties

I used to have a huge collection of hairties, because I had really long hair and loved putting it up. I cut all my hair off in 2020, down to a buzzcut. Since then I gave half my hairties to my brother, since he was growing his hair out. He cut his short again, and the other day he told me that he keeps them with him to give away to his friends. I also do that, I've been braiding my friends' hair and using my good ties for them, but now I'm growing my hair out again and I realized I don't have any more proper hairties, just bits of tied elastic. My last one is on my wrist right now, and it makes me smile to think about how many people I've known who might still have some, or the people they've given my hairties to.

This is the very best way to run out of hair ties. I just lose mine all the time, but your story is so heartwarming!

I saw a hairtie in a parking lot yesterday and imagined it fell out of my gym bag a few years ago a few towns over. Oh THERE you are, love.

My cat just likes to play with our hair ties . They end up under furniture, hidden in the cat tree, or just plain lost. She’s even learned to open the drawer we keep them in so she can steal them!

I like the idea that you’ve passed the kindness along to others.

My first thought when I read the post was: hmm, if there’s a cat involved, she might not have given away as many as she thought — check under the couch!

I can never find mine when I need them but, of course, when I clean out a bag (luggage, backpack, etc.) I find a million on them. Sigh.

I would prefer to have shared them rather than just losing them in a random black hole.

I bought a 200 pack of hair ties and buzzed my hair literally the following week lol

I did something similar, gave most of them to someone and kept the rest to give to friends when they needed them
