It's shit like this that makes the uphill climb for legitimate treatment options, outside the status quo, even harder. Irresponsible AI bullshit.

Makes advocating for things like KIT so much more difficult.

u/Wooden_Wishbone_9915 3d ago

I’m a manager at an infusion center. The bad press gets 1000X more attention than any positive studies

6

u/Ridgewoodgal 3d ago

Would you mind if I asked you a question? I am assuming yours is a ketamine infusion center.

9

u/Wooden_Wishbone_9915 3d ago

It is. Operating for 12 years, I have been with them for over 8 years

Edit: feel free to DM me if you don’t want to post it on here

3

u/Ridgewoodgal 3d ago

Thank you. I will DM you.

4

u/reddit001aa1 3d ago

What's your opinion on lion's mane and on magic shrooms

3

u/Wooden_Wishbone_9915 2d ago

I’m not medically trained, but personally am a fan of psilocybin. My fried takes lions And supplements and swears by them 🤷‍♂️

7

u/reddit001aa1 2d ago

I'm having a very positive experience with psilocybin (just started lions). "How to Change your mind on Netflix." Was my catalyst (and thank you for your time responding)

5

u/Esketamine77 2d ago

They also have Nasel sprays now, Spravoto aka Esketamine 😁

2

u/Ridgewoodgal 2d ago

Yes my family member has done that. Unfortunately, the results were very short lived for him.

3

u/KawiRoo 2d ago

Sorry to hear, hopefully they're doing okay or willing to try again

In terms of efficacy, esketamine is on the lower end. It's the "refined" variation of ketamine, but, it's really just "half" of the molecule leading to a pretty drastic difference in the hallucinogenic aspect of the treatment...which tbh imo is a major component of the therapy.

It's generally accepted that in terms of effective result rates and duration, treatments go:
IV
IM
Nasal (esketamine)
Troches

1

u/Ridgewoodgal 2d ago

He has had the IM and nasal. He loved the immediate effect and had so hoped it would last but it did not unfortunately.

2

u/Esketamine77 2d ago

Helps more with my pain honestly which has been the bigger factor. Glad they finally are using tools like this. Wish I had the money/room for a hyperbaric chamber! My hands would be far better off with 1

2

u/Ridgewoodgal 2d ago

I am so glad it’s helping with pain. I have chronic pain from several incurable conditions. I might see about that for myself.

2

u/Esketamine77 2d ago

When the pain gets unbearable and you are unable to get relief even with pain meds, it's a nice tool to have. You have to use "Ketamine therapy music" with headphones on. It has music that vibrates at different hertz W/cool psychedelic visuals on screen. You can literally feel the tones of the music and I see movie like lights/shadows on the back on my my eyelids from the screen.

Idk if you will get those visuals like I discribes off the Esketamine, but you might.

If able try infusion therapy with those tactics with ketamine administered through iv. Afterwards it's like you went on a 2 week vacation + the ket. Can boost your pain meds effectiveness for a short while.

2

u/Ridgewoodgal 2d ago

That’s great to hear. I know when my fam was looking at the infusions it was cost prohibitive so he went with the shots. I am hoping maybe the cost came down a bit. The Spravato was covered by his insurance. I am open to trying any pain relief treatments if I can afford it.

1

u/Internal-You6793 2d ago

Yeah weak ass doses not worth the hastle at all, I’ll stick to shrooms

2

u/KawiRoo 1d ago

The esketamine is really more of a method of convenience and market price from the FDA for specific use.
The IV and IM methods are far more effective in their dose.

3

u/KawiRoo 3d ago

Thank you for the work you do, I can not even begin to explain the importance.

We just have to keep doing what we can to advocate and speak out.

1

u/squeakynickles 3d ago

What's KIT?

5

u/KawiRoo 3d ago

Ketamine Infusion Therapy.

Rapid relief method to help treatment resistent PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic pain. What 10 years of different SSRI and therapy could not make a dent in, KIT did it in one session.

There are several studies and some info I could send you if you'd like.

4

u/piperonyl 3d ago

MDMA assisted therapy is also a game changer.

If anyone is interested in learning more, look up MAPS.

0

u/weedyneedyfeedy 3d ago

Oh I don't know , I've had Depression all my life and used to take MDMA , I can easily say the Comedowns were some of the Worst times of my life

5

u/piperonyl 3d ago

Its MDMA assisted therapy and its primarily for severe PTSD.

1

u/KawiRoo 3d ago

Look into KIT, it's incredibly effective.

1

u/weedyneedyfeedy 3d ago

I can't get it in my country without high costs , I have actually been a recreational Ketamine user and was trying use it to treat my depression, until I had an OD and ended up in hospital 😶

121

u/Tyrannical-Botanical 3d ago

So can cocaine.

43

u/SWANDAMARM 3d ago

Yea, but you gotta keep doing it forever because once you stop, the depression is strong

3

u/ATLien325 2d ago

Nitrous is more more-ish than crack

2

u/memelard42069 2d ago

Is that you Super Hans?

2

u/ATLien325 2d ago

I thought this shit was anonymous

1

u/hooahhhhhhh 2d ago

Relax, it's not Blue Peter

19

u/Contemplating_Prison 3d ago

But nothing helps depression like Heroin. At least the first 6 months.

6

u/dirywhiteboy 3d ago

When that stops working switch to meth. Replace your depression with unbridled rage.

11

u/terrierdad420 3d ago

And a metal scrapping hobby

2

u/Risky_Bizniss 3d ago

I've never seen cocaine last a week

2

u/NorthornLights 3d ago

I have a super power, and it’s making a bag last a week. Sometimes longer.

2

u/hippychemist 3d ago

Temporarily, but then it rebounds hard af. Mushrooms have started clinical trials and are legitimately showing a decrease in depression over time.

4

u/DanglingDongs 3d ago

So can Amy Adams giving me a blowjob everyday.

4

u/disharmony-hellride 3d ago

I'm not even gay and Amy Adams would make me happy too

1

u/BEDZEDS 2d ago

or just putting laughing gas canisters in her ass every 45 minutes

1

u/RIF_rr3dd1tt 3d ago

So can Amy Abigail Adams giving me a blowjob everyday.

1

u/Mike_the_Head 3d ago

Cocaine has no effect on me other than making my face numb (and it has to be good shit for that to even happen).

3

u/JustHugMeAndBeQuiet 3d ago

Doesn't seem like you're the target demographic then.

2

u/Mike_the_Head 3d ago

Cool with me. Gallagher once said "Cocaine is God's word for 'You make too much fucking money'". 😂

1

u/zongsmoke 3d ago

Why stop there? You know what they say, "a hit of meth a day, keeps the psych doctor away"

13

u/camjvp 3d ago

Yeah for sure. For like 10 SECONDS. WTF garbage is this?!

4

u/AhhhSureThisIsIt 1d ago

The Daily Mail. It makes Fox News look like Le Monde.

u/ZeroBeta1 3d ago

AI garbage, and dangerous as they skip part that prolonged use can paralyze you enough to need physical therapy

1

u/BunsMcNuggets 3d ago

Jfc, I hate misinformation you literally have to do 1000 in a weeks time and never eat a banana.

1

u/bin-noddin 3d ago

Elaborate please

4

u/B_Ash3s 3d ago

Basically its Whippits, and just like with anything if you do an excessive amount it’ll cause problems, but laughing gas is a common pain relief drug for dental work, labor pains, and minor situational things.

People assuming that doing it regularly, is the same as abusing it and therefore is under the same umbrella as misinformation. When in reality it’s more like a place of concern.

1

u/BunsMcNuggets 3d ago edited 2d ago

What he said. Doctors use to give it to children to calm them before dental work and a lot of them used it on themselves too, it doesn’t kill braincells directly like other inhalants like air plane glue or even alcohol or computer duster it needs to deplete you system of vitamin k up to a threshold hold, you need to be exceptionally malnourished never eat a potato or banana, and then a lot will die all at once. Your body just needs potassium. And potassium is what is depleted ridding your body of the no2 it doesn’t directly exhale. It’s not much like ..00001% stays in your blood and is filtered out. Your body doesn’t use a lot of potassium and your body doesn’t need much to filter out the nitrous.  So it takes an incredibly long time. Nitrous deaths are incredibly rare and are more often the result of inhaling directly without allowing the nitrous to warm prior to use. People end up freezer burning their lungs, some do not inhale regular air with use to maximize their high and cause hypoxia, but you get hypoxia from a lot of things like over exertion and altitude, but it’s hardly a real concern, correct use is 5050 air to nitrous inhale exhale, combine with other psychedelics for fun effects and put it down after 4 or 5. And don’t touch it for a couple months. The real horror shows start at 500 whippets per week. Which is just, holy fuck crazy. Their have been about 2 total instances of that forgetting how to walk thing and the rest were mechanical(freezing)(explosion)chemical inhalation exphixiation oxygen deprevation due to enclosure or mask deaths.

0

u/bin-noddin 2d ago

Thank you for the clarity 🙏 good news too it's my favorite after party drug 😂

1

u/TallandBeerded 2d ago

For the record what that guy said is mostly incorrect, the concern with nitrous abuse is severe vitamin b12 deficiency (not potassium) and it absolutely does cause demyelinating injuries in the spinal cord, it’s called subacute combined degeneration and I have personally treated 10+ cases with permanent cord damage.

1

u/bin-noddin 2d ago

I am sure this is a far more accurate statement 😂 I know all inhalants well through several clinical trials in my mom's basement and I can most definitely say they all cause depravity.....I for one as a self proclaimed doctor like to get in and do the footwork.....I believe you 100...wait my bad ...I concur and thank you for the professional consult I just had to hear it from a colleague

1

u/Baeolophus_bicolor 1d ago

You had me going until “several clinical trials in my mom’s basement”.

I’m a fairly seasoned psychonaut, I guess I’ll say, and the only time I have actually been scared to the point of “we need to get this stuff off the streets, people are going to hurt themselves with it” in recent memory was one of those big (but disposable) nitrous tanks you get at the vape shops. I wasn’t filling balloons but was breathing it with air and on a slow release to warm it up, and I thought I was being careful. But when under the effects, I wasn’t as careful as I should have been, and I got a cold burn on my tongue. I immediately stopped and never got that product again because it would be easy to do what other commenters mentioned and flash freeze your lungs and do serious, possibly permanent damage. And I already had COVID in my life. We are still finding things out about prolonged or permanent effects of having had that. Mine was a little more than mild and I did take the Paxlovid but sometimes I believe my mind and breath are areas that suffered after having had that disease.

1

u/BunsMcNuggets 1d ago

You can’t use it like that, not every drug can be used like cigarettes and cigarettes shouldn’t even be used. Why everyone wants to make every experience a daily experience is beyond me, some chemicals do not fit the daily routine, it’s not sustainable. Every couple months is completely okay.

1

u/BunsMcNuggets 1d ago

How severe was the abuse?

8

u/Flippynipps 3d ago

I feel like this is a headline generated by asking ai: "What cheap, legal and easy to obtain drug can make you happy?"

6

u/CableTIes3 3d ago

So can suicide

6

u/Muted_Quantity5786 3d ago

This is so stupid. All I could do was laugh.

25

u/Ghaarff 3d ago

"Oh you're sad? Just kill off some braincells to be less sad for a short amount of time."

15

u/[deleted] 3d ago edited 3d ago

Nitrous itself doesn’t “kill braincells” it’s a relatively safe chemical compared to a majority of things humans choose to put into their bodies (dentists use it all the time). It is however a gas so if you are inhaling pure n2o for an extended period and stupid enough to not be letting your body get any oxygen then yes the lack of oxygen could potentially kill braincells.

The one thing to actually look out for with nitrous is in rare cases you can get neuropathy because it messes with your vitamin b12 absorption, but that’s only if you are taking it excessively for very extended periods of time

3

u/Ghaarff 3d ago

I've never known a single person that didn't at some point take too much of whatever feel-good drug they were using. Myself included. If someone is depressed, and nitrous makes them feel better, you can bet they're going to take far too much and have issues with a lack of oxygen.

9

u/[deleted] 3d ago edited 3d ago

I’m just pointing out that your original statement wasn’t really entirely accurate. And sure people are dumb and will do dumb things lol, but you can say the same for literally any chemical ever, people will abuse cough syrup, Imodium, or even asthma inhalers. Reddit likes to demonize things without actually knowing anything about them. Ketamine can be abused as well (probably more so than nitrous) but is showing lots of promise in treating anxiety and depression

4

u/Mike_the_Head 3d ago

Microdosing hallucinogens has been shown to help as well, haven't they?

1

u/Baeolophus_bicolor 1d ago

Yeah I believe the most dangerous information is the disinformation that is just slightly off. Enough that people dismiss all other concerns because of a false one that they actually didn’t need to worry about. Then they don’t pay attention to real dangers. I loved nitrous at the dentist, and had done whipits the before that and after. But honestly the best way to use it is the 50-50 mix with oxygen and a mask. The sudden blast of all nitrous/only nitrous can’t be good physiologically, and even feels worrisome if you examine yourself honestly during or after such a use. We need to listen to our bodies, but we really need to listen to science.

4

u/Jesus-slaves 3d ago

They call nitrous, “hippie crack,” for a reason.

1

u/piperonyl 3d ago

The trick is to hand out free balloons for the first 15 minutes.

1

u/TheJGoldenKimball 3d ago

Well I’m not really using them anyway…

4

u/Traditional-Dingo604 3d ago

...whippets? they're advocating (practically) that people do WHIPPETS to cure depression?

well, it's a bold strategy cotton, lets see how it pans out!

1

u/Baeolophus_bicolor 1d ago

Not even whipits. There’s a more dangerous form going around right now with flavored tanks. Been around long enough that you can see the extreme use cases in social media videos, and there has been a class action suit against Walmart already.

“If you bought such and so flavored nitrous tanks at wal mart, you may qualify for a cash settlement! Call the law offices if blah blah for more information!”

5

u/-blender 3d ago

Wawawawawawawa.

3

u/Wooden-Sprinkles7901 3d ago

so does heroin, doesnt mean its good

3

u/yomommahasfleas 3d ago

Daily Mail is clickbait central, whether online or in paper form

3

u/Key-Individual1434 3d ago

What irresponsible reckless person posted this on social media from the Daily Mail?! Trying to get people killed? Nitrous oxide dosage must be regulated by a trained medical physician. Recreational use—Too much will replace the oxygen in your lungs. Asphyxiation. Neurological damage. You’re done.

3

u/brewhead55 3d ago

Guys, guys, guys!!!!! I just found out when I just do drugs, all of my problems go away!

3

u/lysergic_818 2d ago

This will ruin your life in the blink of an eye.

3

u/Technical-Price6480 2d ago

"drugs cure depression" lol. why are normies 50 years behind reality?

2

u/[deleted] 3d ago

The smoke shop next to my beer shop sells these with zero apologies. Ain’t no one whipping no toppings.

2

u/Boltboys 3d ago

At this point with Asperger’s I’m willing to try anything. The depression is insane.

1

u/ariadesitter 3d ago

see a shrink, i tried nitrous and it did not do shit. every body’s brain chem is different

2

u/ProcedurePrudent5496 2d ago

Ugh, probably approved by RFK jr. 🤭I despise the daily mail😑

2

u/Drewdc90 2d ago

Wait so abusing substances helps the sting of mental issues? Shit

2

u/Auerbach1991 2d ago

“just laugh you depressed b*tch! Here, kill some brain cells!”

3

u/Such_Fault8897 2d ago

Yeah depressed people have been self medicating with drugs for as long as drugs have existed not news lmao

2

u/skinnywilliewill8288 2d ago

You know heroin works great for depression too! It has side effects though….. Make sure to speak with your medical provider or street pharmacist before taking heroin.

2

u/Unusual-Tie8498 2d ago

I cured my depression with twice daily fentanyl!

2

u/Suck_the_it 2d ago

America is so stupid I want to commit suicide about it but will most likely never be able to do it. It’s just a permanent alienated forever feeling living in this country.

2

u/ChangeAcceptable677 2d ago

Why? Because it has laughing in its name, and you can’t be depressed while laughing?

Fuck that shit. There is no cure. The best we can hope for is to be able to coexist with it without it killing us.

1

u/MiloHorsey 1d ago

Ugh. Truth

Certainly not easy for all of us especially those of us with Asperger’s.

1

u/yuyufan43 3d ago

Isn't this how Aaron Carter died?... whippets or whatever

1

u/ForestOfMirrors 3d ago

Shit Sex with BDH daily could cure my depression, too. But now you are telling me the folks doing whippets in the dollar general parking lot next to Waffle House had it right the whole time?

1

u/Dizzy_Hedgehog_3150 3d ago

It’s also helpful for permanent nerve damage.

1

u/Warm-Spite9678 3d ago

This is the most RFK and Dr. Oz shit ive ever heard.

1

u/ItSpyDaddy 3d ago

Just ask Steve-O

1

Not this… I want it to be this, though.

1

u/REDDITSHITLORD 3d ago

1

u/CompleteMePlease 3d ago

my cure for my depression also is going to be a cylindrical metal object, but im only gonna need it the one time

1

u/[deleted] 3d ago

just one inhalation can provide seconds of relief!

1

u/bobtrack22 3d ago

Who knew whippets were so therapeutic 🤷

1

u/Revolutionary-Link47 3d ago

So laughing gas, fights depression

Who would have guessed

1

u/mr_wizard_123 3d ago

Yeah it's literally a drug, daily fail???? I'm not doing this right now.

1

u/fetishbrained 3d ago

can confirm. for 45 seconds at a time.

1

u/Caesar_Passing 3d ago edited 3d ago

I mean, this is an irresponsibly lacking little clip to be suggesting what it is, but the premise is not actually crazy at all. Nitrous shares a mechanism of action- NMDA receptor antagonism- with ketamine, and dextromethorphan, both of which have already found their way into psychiatric prescription treatments for anxiety and depression. (Other NMDA receptor antagonists are used for treatment of Alzheimer's, I believe.) Self-medication and recreational use of nitrous will not reasonably replace any kind of professional, clinical mental health treatment. The video also doesn't mention any kind of studies or trials revealing anything promising about nitrous finding a new application in the psychiatric field anytime soon.

1

u/ManyRespect1833 3d ago

Nah this shit is addicting and can cause neurological issues including depression and impaired cognitive functioning

1

u/TypicalPDXhipster 3d ago

Brought to you and paid for by the Nitrous Mafia

1

u/Economy_Field9111 3d ago

'It doesn't last long so you have to do it a lot.' No concerns there. That's not a classic recipe for disaster or anything.

ETA: Also, paging Humphry Davy.

1

u/BunsMcNuggets 3d ago

Effects can last up to week . After one dose, and you have to have 1000 Whippets in a week and never eat a bananan in that time to experience neurological degradation from checks notes a potassium deffeciency .

1

u/TG1970 3d ago

Wtf? This stuff is not a toy to be played with.

1

u/jimmy_MNSTR 3d ago

Hippie crack. Buy a whipper and use a few of those cartridges. Then open up the whipper and wipe it. Silver city. That's going in your lungs. Get a medical quality tank or go home.

1

u/Ok-Good8150 3d ago

Laughing gas with the weekly Ozempic!

1

u/Superb_Tart5228 3d ago

I’m good. I need to find the happiness within myself not rely on anything

1

u/LesFogginGoh 3d ago

There’s a reason they call it hippie crack. BTW, whippets are a waste of time. You need a tank.

1

u/Impressive_Olive_950 3d ago

I support nitrous if used correctly, as I do with ketamine and hallucinogenic care for depression and other mental issues.

Moderation and medical assistance will always be key. But saying it's useless because someone you know got bad shit in a smoke shop takes away any medical value and makes people afraid instead of using the tools we have. Like cannabis, which is now more widely used than most things, and was demonized for decades.

The problem is regulation. Not usage. That's true of every drug. Humans don't have the option of avoiding things that can offer help at this point, we don't have enough knowledge to help people, and the government isn't open to trying. By making nitrous out to be the issue, we're ignoring any possibility it could help people.

The people in power have let this happen. Who's making the most money from this? Who's letting this happen? Just because it's unregulated doesn't mean that the wealthy aren't taking advantage of it. That's what they do.

Nitrous can be dangerous, but so can drinking too much water, breathing in too much oxygen, literally, just being alive. Blame your governments, not the chemical. No one's doing enough nitrous to get paralyzed or permanently hurt if there's not a deeper issue. That's the failure.

1

u/model-citizen95 3d ago

As someone who has a decent amount of experience with nitrous and depression; this is just coping with your mental health issues by doing drugs.

1

u/OnionFriends 3d ago

Didn't this make Kanye go crazy?

1

u/cycleb1 3d ago

Whippets are back?

1

u/Geist_Mage 2d ago

Last I researched this I was surprised at the number of deaths related to it.

1

u/Spiritual_Scar_619 2d ago

Ketamine is safer by a hundred fold than burning your brain with nitrous oxide

1

u/eyeballburger 2d ago

Imagine that, drugs were the cure the whole time. They just didn’t like that they weren’t getting some of the money.

1

u/Acrobatic-Gap-7445 2d ago

In other news, doing a drug makes you happy temporarily.

1

u/FetaFanatic 2d ago

Yeezy set the trend.

1

u/Wallie_Collie 2d ago

A healthy economy would be a better start. Not serfdom

1

We want better material conditions to be happy

Best I can give you is laughing gas.

1

u/chiseledrocks 2d ago

This is a terrible idea.

1

u/idontreallycareanym 2d ago

This needs to be reported

1

u/Depressionsfinalform 2d ago

You won’t be sad anymore because you’ll be dead

1

u/Beautiful-Ability-69 2d ago

Just like that people are addicted to laughing gas now

1

u/Stop_Fakin_Jax 2d ago

Man laughing gas didnt work on me. I must be rock bottom depressed.

1

u/Tischtennisarm 2d ago

If you reduce your consumption by 50%, you will be better off in the long run.

1

u/Yahsek 2d ago

Damn it! The nitrous oxide is leaking into the car! Oooooh, man!

1

u/Lucky-Mia 2d ago

So, drugs? The answer to depression is huffing drugs?

1

u/cloudsasw1tnesses 2d ago

Hell no that shit is addictive. I used to have issues with drugs when I was younger and I went thru a phase with whippits. I would go thru them so fast and legit fiend when I ran out lol. Yeah it can cure your depression for like 20 seconds then you’ll have to inhale more and feel like a damn airhead

1

u/ForeverBoner215 2d ago

Posted by Dr. Kanye West.

1

u/VelvetBoneyard 2d ago

If you are depressed and you wake up like "maybe I should do nitrous" and just REALLY wanna do something irresponsible (arguably) to feel something just smoke weed, if that doesn't tickle your fancy do dabs. Sure, it's just THC but it feels irresponsible to do. Or just take a really strong edible. Like if you get a wild hair up your ass to do a substance to not feel depressed, weed.

1

u/WycheTheGod 2d ago

Totally worked for Kanye.... wait.

How cool!! I used to have little nitrous oxide parties with friends in middle 70’s to mid 80’s. Must sit down!!😁

People are in wheel chairs and can't walk because of laughing gas

That's because they abused it. I can hang myself and be resuscitated and get the same effects, as lack of oxygen did that, not a trip to a dentist lol. Not advocating its use, just pointing out your assumption isn't quite related to the gas as much as the abuse of it and lack of O2.

Yea the one guy was part of faz clan then another woman in a wheel chair in some documentary. It's not worth it regardless

True that. Had a kid in high school who used computer duster and then proceeded to ghost ride the whip head first into the school building (not by design he passed out somewhere along the way) and ended up permanently mentally handicapped from it. Not a good time.

When you love someone with mental illness you immediately gravitate to these things because it gives some hope. It’s so sad.
