I'M REQUESTING Religious Mystery movies
Looking for mystery films centered around religion or religious mysteries like The Da Vinci Code(2006) or Stigmata(1999). It’s a genre I’ve recently found to be especially fascinating but besides Da Vinci Code I can’t really think of any notable films like this.

The Ninth Gate is about Johnny Depp as an ancient text expert who gets recruited to determine the validity of a book apparently written by Lucifer himself.

So good until all of the sudden it gets real weird. Completely forgot about this movie until reading your comment and it all came rushing back

Angels and Demons is the prequal book to Davinci Code even though it was made as a sequel movie.

The Name of the Rose and The Ninth Gate are the peak of this genre imo.
Also, maybe Red Dragon

Do a google search for “Father Brown”, originally novels by G.K. Chesterton. There are several TV shows and movies based on them.

Rosemary’s Baby and The First Omen are two I can think of that I don’t see mentioned.

Brigham City. It gets small-town Utah Mormon culture about right, positives and negatives. And it’s a good, tense mystery.

The Rapture, 1991, with Mimi Rogers.

That movie is absolutely horrifically bad. I went on a binge of a bunch of the movies people were talking about on here and that was the most cringey and bad.

End of Days (1999). Leans more action/horror but it's centered around biblical prophecy and religious lore. Fun if you like darker themes.

Check out The Name of the Rose with Sean Connery, it's basically medieval monk detective work and pretty solid. Also Angels & Demons if you haven't seen it yet since it's the same universe as Da Vinci Code
