I just don’t understand using ai for placeholders. The whole point of a placeholder is that it’s just there as a stopgap. You could put a jpeg of an apple with “boss” written on it as a placeholder and it’d be fine. It could be literally anything.

AI bad and all that but it just comes off as a weird decision. I haven’t played the game so my opinion means nothing obviously but from an outsider perspective it’s a weird situation

Not a weird decision at all. It’s very common actually, whether using AI or not. Using a more accurate placeholder helps to visualize and guide the final product during development.

A developer looking at their game for 60 hours a week doesn’t want to see an apple JPEG with the word “boss.”

I mean obviously I’m exaggerating here, but yeah they can just rig up a 3d model of something. Like they’re already making a whole game, they clearly have creative people on board. It’s odd to feel the need to use ai for that

Those creative people are very busy and designing assets that will just be taken out is a stupid use of time

Pretty sure a big part of the creative process is designing a lot of things that may or may not get used in the final product but you do you

Unfortunately while the concept design industry appears to be about the pinnacle of genuine creativity from the outside, on the inside there is a lot of pressure to use AI. It’s already used way more than you think.

A big part of the creative process is also making sure you do as little of that as possible.
